  1. I'm calling Heroin Face to open and Do the Hansa to close.

    Encores: Dredd Song and JSY.

Short set - 45 minutes tops.

    Have fun, Tampa dorks!

  2. maybe they'll open with 'the kiss'

    ReplyDelete
  3. Feels like an "Open" night to me, too. Not sure why...

    ReplyDelete
  4. What have happend to Freakshow.. When I heard it live in sweden.. I though it was awful.. But the studio version is great . More Cowbell!

    ReplyDelete
  5. "I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell."

    : )

    ReplyDelete
  6. heard freakshow on the raio today! i think it's a great radio song.

    ReplyDelete
  7. freakshow is great, but it's getting trashed in the press.

i hope they don't open with open

  8. I hate the fact I can't be at the FL shows after being at every one since 92. Oh well, I guess I can start a TX streak...

    ReplyDelete
  9. http://www.thecure.com/

    Updated with Freakshow now.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Wyatt: Were you at the Orlando show in 1992? :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Come on CAT!!!!! Open is a great song.... Was my favorite Cure song for years....Still love it to death, but would take UTS over it any day now since it is so damn unbelievable

    ReplyDelete
  12. V and Wyatt - were either of you at Gainesville 96?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I sure was V. Me and my girlfriend at the time decided to go last minute and drove over from Clearwater (we had tickets for Tampa already)....

The thing I remember most (besides the great show) was this burning car on the dise of the highway on the way back....Biggest car fire I have ever seen... Yeah, strange things stick in my mind

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think tonight is going to be a special night.

That's why I predict they will open with "Splintered In Her Head".

    ReplyDelete
  15. Craig: Oooh, that show's a sore spot for me. ;) I left for college out of state a week before that show. I had gone with my best friend to get her tickets for the show - she got front row center, and so would I if I hadn't decided to go to school out of state! I was soooo sad that night, all alone in my dorm room, with no car and no way to see The Cure, who played at my college town on the Wish tour but not the Swing tour!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. open can suck my pubic hairs! it's BORING

now WANT or LOST - THERE are two rockin' openers! or the kiss or holy hour (though hh is more dark and dreamy than rockin')

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yep Craig..Good old O'Connel center at UF....Good times...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wyatt: Awesome - where were your seats? I was with my best friend, my little brother, and my mom, 3rd row, right under Simon!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. craig, i don't know if you have some special future version of thecure.com, but the only one is still there - no mention of freakshow.

i am so sick of the only one - puke!

    ReplyDelete
  20. V-
Since it was last minute I was not as lucky as you. i was side section half way up stage right....Great view....Man, I loved the Wish tour...Porl was great, and I loved hearing songs like Cut, Unstuck, Apart, etc...

And the intro to Never Enough when the whole arena went dark and they focused in on Porl doing that crazy cool guitar intro!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Craig: P.S. Were you at that show? :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wyatt: My mom and I camped out for tickets on the night before they went onsale, so that's how we got 3rd row. :) Wish I remembered the NE guitar intro, tho. :( I remember them playing "Never Enough", but I don't recall that. Then again, I was probably too busy staring at Simon. Surprise, surprise!!! (I had good taste, even at 13!)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Good old Simon...Wonder if he knows how much love he gets on this site?

Check out The Show video...It has the NE opening in it..

My other favorite part of the Wish tour was on POY..When he says "always so lost in the dark:..Everything would stop and the arena was pitch black, except a light on Robert's face....ALways gave me chills

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have been to a number of Tampa shows, so I feel like I should be there, but it's ok. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. V - Yes , I was there. My final Swing Tour show. Who knew that going to that show and not writing a review for it, would have such a huge impact on my life. Life is strange. : )

    ReplyDelete
  26. Cat - hit refresh. the front page has been updated.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Craig: Who knew that going to that show and not writing a review for it, would have such a huge impact on my life.

I guess I missed this story (doh - some COF fangirl I am!!) - how did not writing a review that impact your life? :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Craig, explain that if you can....(BTW, I appreciated all the info you gave after the Houston show regarding the nightmare of 2005 situation)...It helps some of us understand "a bit" better.....I know it's not fun to talk about.

Kate, where did you live in FL?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Craig - "more cowbell" was the very first thing that crossed my mind when I listened to the studio Freakshow!

    Christopher Walken is hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wyatt - Born and raised in Tampa... family's still there. Went to university at USF. You?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow, that makes at least two USF alumni here, doesn't it? (Isn't that where Morris went?) :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. V - Gosh, I don't remember where morris went!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Kate, I lived in Palm Harbor from 87-2000 (with the exception of college)....Even went to USF for a bit post graduate....My little sister just graduated USF and is the only member of my fam still there

    ReplyDelete
  34. Okay, I guess I better get out of the office. I don't know when I'll be back on since I have some things to do, but I will stop by sometime tonight fo' sho'! Enjoy the show, all! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Bye V, we'll miss you. Don't grope Peter too hard. : )

    ReplyDelete
  36. Craig, that comment scares me....

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm seeing them in ATLANTA in about five days. Hope they open with either UTS or OOTW or WANT.

Freakshow is SO NOT a radio single. What are they thinking?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Bye V! I don't know where you're going, but have fun either way :D

    ReplyDelete
  39. Kent, I thought the same thing until I heard the actual studio version...It's great...The live version, not so much

    ReplyDelete
  40. Crap - just noticed that Cure start at 8pm Eastern - if my calculations are correct that means in 35 minutes time!!!!

I'm gonna have to break a few road rules to drop the hubby at work and be back in time for lights down!

I wish he'd hurry up and get organised - I'm ready to go now!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Elise: No worries - that would be nearly impossible for me to do right now. :)

Craig: Lol!!! I think I'm going to leave Peter hanging tonight... maybe next time. ;)

    Byeeeee!

    ReplyDelete
  42. wyatt - that's pretty cool. I moved away from Florida in 1998. But, in high school and college, I had a number of friends who went to Countryside High School, with a few right there in Palm Harbor!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Kent - I never thought I would jump on the freakshow train, but I actually really like the studio version - it makes me wanna dance like RS

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh, how I remember Countryside Kate....I played ball there many times...

and my sister in law graduated from there as well...Again, the world seems small today :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. wyatt - that is so funny! I actually went to a homecoming dance at Countryside, even! I am laughing justing thinking about it. Hahahah!

We went to the beaches at night a lot, too. Heh.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Back very soon - just have to drop hubby at work.

Dear Mr Smith, please don't start without me : )

    ReplyDelete
  47. hey craig? what has teddy been up to lately? do you know for certain?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yeah Kate...Many many nights spent at Clearwater beach...Some very good, some very bad :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. altr2elise & BassVI Wyatt: Ok, ok. I'll buy it from itunes. But THE ONLY ONE was, to me, very very mainstream (a good thing - don't hate me). I just figured that SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD would be a better follow up. FREAKSHOW just seems... well... too freakish!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sofia - I've asked about Teddy alot lately. No one seems to know. Heard he's not into music right now. Last I heard, he was living in Florida.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Craig, i was asked at the show the other night where Nadine is....I remember seeing her name for years, but didn't have an answer....Can I ask?

    ReplyDelete
  52. craig, it just seems to me (and i wrote you about this way back when)
that his whole life- his whole adult life was the cure. so i feel sad sometimes when i think about things. you know?

    ReplyDelete
  53. The interview on Parrybamonte.de with him from late 06 was pretty good and he seemed to be doing very well.....Hope that is the case..I always loved him in The Cure (Porl will always be the ultimate guitar player to me). But Parry just seemed "right" to me as a member

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wyatt - who asked you that? Rather not get into it on here, but we are not together anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sofia - yeah, I always worry about Perry. Such a nice guy.

    ReplyDelete
  56. wyatt, he and daryl really sacrificed so much for this band. i don't want to bring up bad feelings but i do think about them alot and if they read- i wish them well!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. No problem, Craig, and I don't mean to pry into personal life, etc....I never even knew you were "together", just remember seeing her name often..

As to who asked me, it was a girl named Stephanie who started talking to me at the show when she realized I was there solo......However, she was also the girl who rudely said "I know you are excited, but could you not sing the lyrics out of tune"....Yeah, nice way to ask that...Was not a fan of her after that one..

    ReplyDelete
  58. Be back shortly... have to go shower. :P

    ReplyDelete
  59. wyatt, "I know you are excited, but could you not sing the lyrics out of tune"

    *snort* are you serious?!
    fucking whatever...

    ReplyDelete
  60. okay, my dinner is finally ready...
i'll be back to play in a bit!

    xo

    ReplyDelete
  61. "I know you are excited, but could you not sing the lyrics out of tune."

Someone needed to tell Stephanie that, when you sit in the audience, you will be surrounded by people who have a little bit of passion.

    ReplyDelete
  62. oh, I am serious..... I know I sing like crap, and have a great story regarding that and the last band I played with, but it blew me away the way she said that...

I am sure there were a thousand nicer ways to say it, but whatever...I kept right on singing along....

    ReplyDelete
  63. wyatt - yes, the beach at night was always great for drama! But, then again, so is everything in high school. Heehee.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Good Kate. Didn't miss anything. : )

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hey Craig, is Olivier the guy who did the EU reports? And if so, has he flown over here to go to the remaining shows? :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. I was sent a text that they soundchecked Charlotte Sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  67. grins at Craig. I am nice and clean, now. ;P

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh man, Charlotte would be great!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Kate - No, different Olivier. But the "real" Olivier is coming over for NYC.

    ReplyDelete
  70. wyatt, sorry you were offended, but I didn't want to hear you yelling in my ear all night long out of tune... just like you didn't want that girl standing on the chair blocking your view... I came to hear robert's voice, not yours...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Wow, that's great about Olivier, Craig! Maybe I *should* get a NYC gathering together. :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
    *shudder*

    ReplyDelete
  73. What red light? What speed limit?

    ReplyDelete
  74. It's a concert, people are allowed to sing....Now standing on a seat...last time I checked, not allowed

    ReplyDelete
  75. kate, it IS a good idea! ive been dying to meet people at the shows.
    NICE people.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I think we're probably in for a regular show tonight...I don't think we'll see anything like Texas...I hope I'm wrong though!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Yay for Elise! Didn't miss a thing.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Also said Last Day of Summer, but that has to be a mistake because it's not on the master list.

    ReplyDelete
  79. IMHO, I think that singing a bit out of tune is much better than those lousy folks who talk and walk back and forth in front of you for beer during the entire show. Guh!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Someone stood in front of my mother when I took her to a concert. My 4'11", quiet mother snarled at the person.

I agree. Standing is not cool.

    ReplyDelete
  81. That's because they're practicing Charlotte Sometimes for the Charlotte show. :P

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yes Kate. : )
    Maybe Sofia could help?

    ReplyDelete
  83. I was so hoping for Deep Water when they came out with the Disentegration encore, but not to be....I wonder who is going to be the lucky city for that one?

    ReplyDelete
  84. whoa, Stephanie and Wyatt reunited on COF? OK guys, I think this is the perfect time to kiss and make up. It's really not a big deal, eh? :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. wyatt, i don't think you realize how loudly you were "singing" right in my ear. like I said, sorry you were offended, but I couldn't deal with that through the whole show.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Joe - think they're just messin' with you? : )

    ReplyDelete
  87. They played "The Same Deep Water" last night in New Orleans...;)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hey sofia... I have been thinking about getting a group together for the NY shows (we're going to both). But, I am not local, so I don't know good places to meet. Any thoughts?

I can get around NYC pretty well, though. I have visited many times. We just take the train up to Penn.

    ReplyDelete
  89. V - keep that on the down low girl! : )

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah Kent. She decided to stand on her chair in the middle of POY, making her about 8 feet tall. I waited about 3 minutes, asked her to get down. She didn't. I waited another song, than asked her again...She didn't...I than told her that was fine, the security guard could help her down...She got down..

    All good after that :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Ooops! Did I say something? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  92. kate-- Eric (Joachim) asked me about a pre-show meetup as well. He said he wants to get together with some COFers, and I'm not opposed to the idea either.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Jason: "Using the "half house" setup tonight"

    ReplyDelete
  94. Sofia - (Going back to our previous chat) you're forgiven for not liking BF *hugs*

    ReplyDelete
  95. I;m heading back to New Orleans in July, Craig...

Happy to treat you to lunch or dinner if you are around as a thanks for the 12 years you have given all of us fans here...

    ReplyDelete
  96. last night they played Jumping Simon Gallup's Schlong at the secret show in my pants...

    ReplyDelete
  97. Can I chime in about annoying concert goers? There are so many annoying things to choose from, but I'll just share one of the ones from the SD show.

I was in about the 10th row, on the aisle so everybody and their mother kept trying to sneak up there for the show. The bad part of course was that I could barely see when that happened. The most annoying part though is when a very drunk couple made their way next to me, started to make out heavily, all the while slowly falling on me. They were practically on top of me sucking face.

I never understood why someone would get so drunk at a concert, that they don't even remember it the next day?

    ReplyDelete
  98. sometimes I want to choke myself

    ReplyDelete
  99. hey, wyatt, at the Philly show, this girl got on her guy's shoulders. Security rushed in quickly and when they wouldn't cooperate (they were a little drink, I think), they were asked to leave. The girl was all like "no, I am not going to leave" blah blah blah. Anyway, they got kicked out. Ha!

    ReplyDelete
  100. v :( - hopefully not too far away (given that Jenny has hers)

    ReplyDelete
  101. classic, Anah...Not quite sure how to handle that one....

    ReplyDelete
  102. annie - that's cool about eric... are you local to NYC?

    ReplyDelete
  103. "I never understood why someone would get so drunk at a concert, that they don't even remember it the next day?"

At the last CURE concert I saw, I only had 2 Jack & Cokes. I wanted to remember it. On Sunday in Atlanta, I plan on doing the same.

Yep - when I've bought up front tickets and people try to sneak past me I want to grab them and slam their face into the seat in front of me.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I love Philly, Kate...dated a girl from Washington Crossing in Bucks county for awhile....Great area...Love New Hope as well....That where you live?

    ReplyDelete
  105. kate- nope, neither is he. Just hinting that maybe the gathering would be a good idea =)

    ReplyDelete
  106. I hope they play some manly songs tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  107. OK, I'm EST. Where are the set reports?

    ReplyDelete
  108. wyatt - yes, Philly is a great city. Don't live there, though. We travelled for that one. :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. I have 8:22p.m. And that's CNN time!

    ReplyDelete
  110. V - I wonder which Cure songs Simon thinks are manly? : )

    ReplyDelete
  111. annie - ok, that's cool. I am not local, but I know my way around enough to navigate. I am hoping that someone local could offer some suggestions for meeting places.

I'll see what I can figure out, and maybe I'll post something soon. :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. I have 8.20 (but in the morning)

    ReplyDelete
  113. hello everyone!

hmmm still no update yet? they are starting later and later. must be getting tired...

    ReplyDelete
  114. Craig: I will ask him next time I meet him. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  115. hey gang! anyone else here going to atlanta and charlotte... i'll be there with my wife...

    ReplyDelete
  116. Hi GP - they were waiting for you

    ReplyDelete
  117. When I met Simon, he was very sweet. He kept repeating "I ride bikes" Over and over again. It was funny.

I think that's the reason for the PHTs: they're bicycle pants/shorts.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Some of you guys must go to very 'civilized' concerts. I've always seen them as social gatherings as much as musical ones. I mean, they are mass gatherings of thousands of people, and I think even the people who are being annoying and rude really contribute to the overall energy, which is always essential at a good show.

It's just funny to me that even crowd-surfing is a noteworthy thing at a Cure concert. Sure we would all like to hear the music well but a part of the concert experience is also adrenaline and just being in the moment...

    ReplyDelete
  119. Boom...Lucky Tampa...Now I really wish I was back in the old stomping yard

    ReplyDelete
  120. UTS!? Really?!

    Zap: I'll be in Charlotte:)

    ReplyDelete
  121. So the texts say UDS, USS and U T Stairs. : )

    ReplyDelete
  122. hey everyone! so anyone think that we'll here any special tracks tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  123. hehe @ elise!

speaking of tame concerts i had front row at the boston show and everyone was very civilized there. i actually thought the crowd was kinda dead up where i was.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Hey everyone! We're getting ready to leave for FLL tomorrow, I have to go drive my dog over to my sister's house :D which is an hour away! But I'll be watching the setlist roll in on my cell and will check in when we're back. I can see the comments but I can't post back from my phone, so I will definitely be with you all in spirit!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Anah: He inspired me to get back into cycling back in Feb. :) And yes, PHTs are a must for any cyclist!

    ReplyDelete
  126. ahhhh UTS....congrats Craig :)

    ReplyDelete
  127. anyone wanting to do a pre/post show meetup in atlanta/charlotte should be able to drop me a line via the blogger profile :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. heya eric. annie mentioned that you are interested in meeting up in NYC... scroll back for our convo. :)

    ReplyDelete
  129. Craig: I think BRDB is a "manly" song and would bet that Simon agrees. Prolly AKOS too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  130. Wyatt... thats my son's name... sold my fender vi and bought a hellcat vi couldnt be happier

    ReplyDelete
  131. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  132. ZAP: with it being Father's day, and a 'school night', it's hard to gather up my fiancee for a pre or post. Not ruling it out, though. And where the concert is - Gwinnett County [outside the Atlanta city limits] - makes it even harder.

    ReplyDelete
  133. UTS right into Prayers For Rain.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Wow Zap. Did you have an original or a re-issue Fender VI?

Don't meet many kids with my first name...Seems to be a more common last name

    ReplyDelete
  135. Sounds like the setlist might follow Dallas for the most part

    ReplyDelete
  136. V - I would have to agree. : )

    ReplyDelete
  137. yeah, pre-show meetups are awesome! i had a really good time hanging with some cool guys for the bloodflowers shows i went to back in the day. i think meeting some of you COF guys before the garden show would be outstanding.

    ReplyDelete
  138. UTS into PFR - I think that's becoming the norm - not that there is anything wrong with that

    ReplyDelete
  139. wyatt, japanese reissue 97/98
ken... staying at the gwinnett holiday in right across the street... going to be awesome to not have to geal with concert traffic

    ReplyDelete
  140. hi again everyone (ooh hugs! thanks, elise)!

yes, i'd be happy to help with a nyc cure meetup. i'm a local!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Zap, In that case, I think you made the right decision getting the Hellcat.

I have an all original 1962 Bass VI, which I doubt I will ever sell :)

    ReplyDelete
  142. NYC meet up people - get it together and I'll post it on COF.

    ReplyDelete
  143. i hope i don't get caught breaking into the program office and lose my job for this, but i had to at least check in and say 'hi' to you all. you guys rock!

annie - i got your email. i will try to mail the ticket tommorow.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Hi cure_kitty - sorry, about the delay in response

    ReplyDelete
  145. yeah, a NYC meetup would be great. I am going to both shows now!

    ReplyDelete
  146. ZAP: there is a mall right around there - DISCOVER MILLS. Not sure if there will be anything going on around there, though. It's a venue that was built w/in the past five years (or so). It's like a mid-sized arena. I saw DURAN there, and the sound from the floor seats was outstanding!

    ReplyDelete
  147. the hellcat is incredible next to the re-issue... i bought it and an ultracure and still had money leftover after i sold the re-issue... i wouldn't sell an original either... without an incredible reason...

    ReplyDelete
  148. "Well It's opening time down on Fascination St."

    ReplyDelete
  149. sofia! fantastic! will you be our COF kitten/Mother Hen when we are in YOUR city?

    ReplyDelete
  150. I love how Craig just takes charge. :)

    ReplyDelete
  151. Zap, how is the Ultracure...I have thought about getting one many times, but it seems so dark in it's tone? I would probably lean toward Porl's new sig guitar

    ReplyDelete
  152. sofia. let's discuss locations. can you e-mail me?

    cofnycmeet at zygotestar dot com

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  153. Eric - got my e-mails about Olivier?

    ReplyDelete
  154. i'm incredibly pissed off at duran duran... i mean andy rocks... and red carpet massacre doesnt... not sure why... but i am really bitter about it... i also think timberlake/timbaland was a wrong move

    ReplyDelete
  155. After those two songs, there needs to be some NRG. FACINATION STREET was the first song I ever liked by THE CURE. I'll always love it!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Anah - it's a new COF and a new Craig. : )

    ReplyDelete
  157. Kent - And Fasc Street is awesome live! Damn sexy!

    ReplyDelete
  158. I started the day with 0 reporters, now I have 3. Cure fans are awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  159. the ultracure is a mixed bag for me... doesn't really feel right... but the sounds is vintage gibson with a wide tonal array.... with the extra pots etc... it looks nice and its different... i think the workmanship wasn't as great as i'd like either.. the frets seem a little less than perfect somehow... i've heard great thing from people that have had the frets re=worked though...

  160. craig, yes thank you very much. annie and i have emailed each other too. i'm all set now for MSG.

Now what do I do about RCMH. seriously, any advice anyone? the options seem to be (a) buy a single ticket for a not very good ticket for $200, (b) buy a pair of decent tickets for $200 each and try to get someone to split, or (c) show up empty handed and take a big risk that i can get one right in front of the venue. i would really like advice on this, since this is the first time i've ever not had tix to a show i was planning on going to.

    Thanks!

  161. Craig - that is the power of COF. It has brought us all together. And for that we are eternally in your debt.

  163. Anyone else like The Walk better with the guitar instead of the keys?

  164. ZAP: You mean RED MESS OCCURRED? I agree 100%

But please hear me - I saw them about two weeks ago and they new stuff LIVE sounded completely different. It was jamming music. I was floored. Really. I still haven't bought the new CD (and won't), but if you have a chance to check out live versions, do it.

Yes, Andy was the man. I was in a restaurant years ago and saw him standind at the bar. Smoking a cig and drinking a drink. I wanted to go talk to him, but did not. I did not want to ruin him having an 'along moment' and me watching someone I admire being himself. Priceless.

  165. Thanks Zap. That is similar to the review I read on it awhile back....I think it would be cool to have just for what it is....

  168. Hi all! I know it might be controversial for me to say so, but I missed the keyboards when I saw them. You can't help but notice their absence.
