5:14 PM Olivier - About 100 people in line now.

3:25 PM @chrisgotch - the line is only about 30 deep right now!! (Me/Craig: More like 70 now)
3:34 PM @EZC17 - just got a pic with twilight sad before show!! hey Craig, told them I would send this pic to u and they said to say hello to u!! (From Me/Craig: They are the best! Hello! Have another great set and blow Vegas away!)

3:08 PM @jdawgmamajammer - yes there is a line in the Castellano room . About 30 people in line . And it's the entrance for tonight's show
2:48 PM @BartonHobbes - craziness/confusion in LV, i.e. the usual. Hotel let us line up 'as a courtesy.' All fans honoring our unofficial system but 2.
2:24 PM @rocker9135 - just saw roger and Jason walking thru casino. They seem in a hurry haha. Only said hi.
2:13 PM @chrispatr - There are no official numbers issued by Chelsea , the band or anyone ...

1:59 PM Maggie - Line is open now on the 3rd floor in one of the conference rooms
1:24 PM @chrisgotch - FYI just went to 3rd and 4th floor. No one knows anything about numbers, and the line is forming roped off thru ballrooms.
12:32 PM Maggie - every person (weather staying at hotel or not) has been moved from the 3rd floor and not allowed back until 5pm. We have moved to the 4th floor to give out the numbers.
8:48 AM @BartonHobbes - line up can't start til 5 pm. We were told doors at 7, Twilight Sad at 8, Cure 9. Unsure how accurate that is.
8:46 AM @BartonHobbes - security getting up in arms. Kicking ppl out if not guests of hotel.
8:23 AM @BartonHobbes - If you have floor GA for Cure tonight, come find us outside Chelsea. We are organizing line and giving out #s.

If you're going to the show and wouldn't mind sending in the live setlist or anything else, please let me know. Twitter, email, text, Facebook, whatever works best for you. Thanks!
Also, if you're familiar enough with The Twilight Sad, could you please let us know their setlist? Want to help their fans keep track, too.

And Olivier might be posting updates at It's A Perfect Day and on Facebook.

Also, if you're Periscoping tonight, please let me know your channel so I can post it. Thanks!

Shout out to the CoF Clock fan club. :)

Thanks @euge_lee

Thanks @BartonHobbes

Thanks @chrispatr

  3. What will they play tonight? If they stick to the rotation, it's a Wish set (Open/End) with the return of some Pornography songs (seemed to tie to the Wish bookends so far).

I'm predicting a 'poppier' group of encores, it's Vegas, more of a casual fan venue. Plus casinos do not like long shows; they want people back out on the floor gambling.

In 2009, they cut the show short! Kicked Cure off-stage before the last encore.

A shame because if they had played Phoenix instead, they could have sold 12,000 tickets at an arena and played forever (no curfews here) instead of 3,000 in Vegas. Just a ding at the Phoenix promoters who royally suck!

I also think we could see a return of the 'Top' encore - it has to turn up soon, it's been several shows.

My bet... Top / Rock / Pop encore with Forest/BDC...

    1. I was there and I believe that was the show that was cut short during the encores because Robert injured his hand.

    1. "Worst set list of The Tour". You just sound silly. There is always one malcontent in the crowd . Basically you wouldn't be happy unless they played "heroine face" the entire time.

      Delete
    2. Utter nonsense... any set list with 'Give Me It' is a great one, really that's the only song though I regret missing by not being able to go last night...

      Delete
    3. I don't know if I would call 32 songs a short set list. Can't you just be happy to see them live again? I really don't get it..

      Delete
    4. People complaining about a band that changes the set every night, plays rare album tracks, bsides, 30+ songs...

I mean really? There is something for everyone in that set list. No they didn't touch Bloodflowers, Pornography, or Faith...but dude: GIVE ME IT.. I would love to see that one live!!!

Screw, Perfect Girl, 2Late... I mean come on, it was a solid set list.

If you want a band that plays basically the same greatest hits every tour and a few crappy new songs; Depeche Mode will come around again in 2017. Or Duran Duran this year.

  27. This looked like a rowdy crowd and a fun show! I am jealous!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Las Vegas is always a rowdy crowd...LOL.
It seems the band is now starting to play 2 Late as a standalone song. It used to always be (partially) incorporated into some other song... And done only rarely. I could be mistaken but it seems they started playing it standalone at one of the London shows awhile back. I wonder why they have suddenly decided to allow the song to " step into the light" so to speak. Pardon the pun! Maybe due to popular demand? Who knows but hope they continue blindsiding us by rolling out those b-sides!

    1. You are correct about 2Late, back in 1992 RS basically played it as part of 'A Forest'... he sang all the lyrics, I remember it well because I was the only one who knew what he was singing lol...

That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing the real version. But I still list it as a song I've seen live because he sang basically the whole thing.

In my list I call it 2Late (A Forest version) lmao!!

  29. Sorry, by blindside I meant that in a positive way, probably wasn't the best choice of words.

  30. Man, I guess any song, any time can be the case? A Foolish Arrangement? I would love to see Simon play that bass line!!!

  31. I just hope Elektra/Rhino whomever, see how much of a draw The Cure still are and release the deluxe Wish album. We need the lost wishes released!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wow, there are some scummy Cure fans! Some of whom post on this very site and have Twitter accounts they use to post to Craig. People for whom the Cure is less a band they enjoy than an obsession that runs their lives. People who will run others down and 'bite and scratch and scream all night' to get front row. People who think they are the BEST CURE FANS EVER. At the end of the day, no one in the band gives a shit about you and you have to go home to your shitty lives. Enjoy hurting others and being nasty, terrible human beings just to have a front row seat to a band who wouldn't respect you if they knew who you really were.

    1. From nearly getting my neck broken at the Pearl to having elbows thrown at me, people lying to get closer in line, and seeing girl on girl cat fights last night...yes, I've seen the worst of human behavior. Makes me sad.

    2. Thank you Z! Where the Pearl show was chaos this was just disrespect. I was shocked. Could imagine if the tables were turned...

    3. Not cool. It makes me sad this happened.

In my experience it's best not to engage when a grumpy/entitled fan trolls a crowd...although it's hard not to.

Hopefully this is an isolated incident and positive vibes flow tonight and onwards!

  33. Problem is the GA shows. They cheaper (usually) and it's fun to move around...but I think the reserved seating shows lessen the idiot factor.

With Reflections, it was nice to show up at the Pantages about 10 minutes before the Cure hit the stage, go to my 5th row Simon-side seat and enjoy the show...

  35. Review from Marc:

Tonight's show at The Chelsea was amazing!!! I know I'm missing a few songs so please excuse the missing songs.

    PLAINSONG

841pm AND THE LIGHTS DIM AS THE FIRST FEW NOTES ON THE SONG STARTS.

    PICTURES OF YOU

SIMON WAS QUITE ENERGETIC TONIGHT. PEOPLE AROUND ME NOTICED IT AS WELL.

    CLOSEDOWN

HEARING THIS SONG TRANSFORMED ME BACK TO 1989 WHEN I HEARD THIS SONG DURING THEIR PRAYER TOUR. IT AMAZES ME TO THIS DAY WHEN ROBERT SMILES AND THE CROWD REACTS SCREAMING HIS NAME.

    A NIGHT LIKE THIS

SIMON GLEEFULLY STROLLS AROUND HIS HALF OF THE STAGE. I LOOK OVER WT REEVES AS HE'S GROOVING TO THE MUSIC.

    THE CATERPILLAR

AS ROGER MOVES HIS HANDS BACK AND FORTH OVER HIS ENTIRE KEYBOARD, I LOOK UP AT JASON WHO HAD THIS JUNGLE BEAT THEME GOING FOR A FEW SONGS. RS SAID SOMETHING LIKE,

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CANT SING CATA CATA CATA CATA."

    LOVESONG

EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS SONG, I THINK ROBERT IS SINGING THIS TO MARY. HOPING IN SOME WAY WHEREVER SHE AT THE MOMENT, SHE KNOWS HOW MICH HE TRULY LOVES HER.

    TRUST

ROGER DID A MASTERFUL JOB CONSIDERING THEY USUALLY HAVE TWO KEYBOARDS DURING THIS SONG.

    LULLABY

RS MOVING HIS HANDS UP THE MICROPHONE STAND WHILE SINGING "CLOSER AND CLOSER."

    PERFECT GIRL

HEARING THIS REMINDED ME OF SEEING THE CURE 4 TIMES DURING THE KISSING TOUR.

    HOT HOT HOT

I LOVED OT WHEN THE CROWD SANG "HEY HEY HEY" WITH ROBERT

    SCREW

I WAS SURPRISED WHEN I HEARD THIS SONG SINCE IT WAS 1985 WHEN INFIRST HEARD THAT SONG.

    THE WALK

ROBERT WAS DANCING UP A STORM AS THW CROWD AROUND ME ERUPTED.

    PUSH

THE PEOPLE AROUND ME RAISING THEIR HANDS AND SINGING "GO GO GO" WITH ROBERT.

    IN BETWEEN DAYS

SIMON WAS A WHIRLING DERVISH SPINNING AROUND LIKE A TOP.

    2 LATE

I STILL THINK TO THIS DAY, THE CURE'S BSIDES ARE BETTER THAN MOST GROUPS SINGLES. CAN I GET AN AMEN PEOPLE!!!

    Sleep when I'm dead

BEING ON REEVE'S SIDE, I FOCUSED ON HIS PLAHIF THROUGHOUT THE CONCERT. HE DID A FANTASTIC JOB TONIGHT!!!!

    Disintegration

MY FAVORITE WAS WHEN ROBERT EXTENDED HIS ARM AND OPENS HIS HAND WHILE SINGING, "JUST LET GO MY PARTY PIECE."

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. NEVER ENOUGH & BURN

THE ENTIRE GROUP WERE TOTALLY ON POINT DURING THESE TWO SONGS.

      Wrong Number

REEVES SURE MAKES HIS GUITAR LARTS SEEM LIKE A RUDIMENTARY EXERCISE. I KNOW HE'S THE NEW GUY. BUT, HE DIDN'T PLAY LIKE IT TONIGHT. THATS FOR SURE.

      LOVECATS & CLOSE TO ME

PEOPLE WENT CRAZY WHEN THEY HEARD THESE TWO SONGS. ONE OF THE BIGGEST CROWD REACTIONS OF THE NIGHT.

LETS GO TO BED - FREAKSHOW - WHY CANT I BE YOU

DID ROBERT SAY SIX OR SEVEN. RS WRAPPING HIS ARMS AROUND HIMSELF WHILE SINGING " HUG YOU TO DEATH."

      A forest & Boys don't cry

Two classic songs done by a classic Band.

The Cure sure we're fantastic tonight. I wasn't surprised considering the last four times they played here...the shows were all amazing. Simon was all over the place moving around the stage and even up front playing to the adoring crowd. Reeves sure got my respect watching his play the entire night. You must check out his solo work as well as the Tin Machine work as a guitarist with singer David Bowie. Jason's rhythmic almost jungle like beat were spot on perfect. Roger masterful keyboard playing should get more credit. He just doesn't play one note at a time. Check out songs like Trust!!! And finally Robert Smith...I've NEVER ever seen him dance up a storm throughout the entire night. Must be the Vegas air or vibe it gives him. But, he could just smile once or move his body slightly and the crowd would approvingly cheer him on...that's for sure.

A special shout out goes to Joe and his wife Monica. This was their first and only show this tour. They flew in from Cleveland and are flying back the next day. Thank you both for hanging out with me for almost 3 hours waiting in the conference room waiting to walk into the venue. And last but surely not least, I end this review with many thanks to Craig. Without you, most if not ALL of us Cure fans wouldn't have the information or resources to get the seats we wanted to AND more importantly go to the concerts we decided to attend. We ALL thank you for your efforts helping us see our favorite band tour. See you all tomorrow in San Diego. I'll be there with my closest bestest friend Julie in the front row!!! Time to get a few hours of sleep for my flight tomorrow. Good night everyone.

  36. I just returned from Vegas after seeing The Cure for the very first time. Overall, the experience was wonderful; however, the venue certainly could have had a few things in place in order for the day to run smoothly/more efficiently.

Being one of the first people arriving, 8 am, I was hopeful to have a prime viewing spot, which didn;t really occur which in part could be attributed to a lack of security...

I did find myself planted in front of Roger, though and Simon made several appearances, which was fantastic, but ugh, again some sort of security should have been in place to lessen some of the stress\shitty attitudes witnessed that night

Thanks to all the fantastic ladies I had the pleasure of meeting that night, and guess what...I have every intention of heading to see them once more time on this tour, as my hunger/desire for The Cure has grown... ;)
