  2. I hate posting from my mobile, that auto correct sucks. I meant , maybe a guest second guitarist, like P Bamonte, or W Hussey

  3. W. Hussay will tour with The Mission along with Killing Joke and The Cult. Perry will never be hired again for sure. But an ex-Bowie or someone else, why not. Any idea of tonight's attendance ? Red 60 and 65 k on the internet but....

  15. Meh, that's lame. They broadcasted the first few seconds of Plainsong, then switched to reruns. Looks like that timetable posted earlier on this site was correct, unfortunately. >:(

  16. I think it will be just a temporal live-fill in, kinda what interpol did with their live shows to replace carlos d.

  17. It wouldn't be that surprising if Robert asked another guitarist to join as they'll probably play some 'Wish' songs which was a guitar driven album. I'd bet on Earl Slick, Reeves Gabrels, Steve Severin or Slash. Find the mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This is as good as I've heard the band sound since Wish..!

Reeve's guitar parts are excellent, Roger seems to have a free reign and they've finally taken the awful effects from poor Jason's drums

  65. HOLY ROCK & ROLL!!!!! I HATE THAT I'M NOT THERE!!!!!!!

  66. How about that old dude rocking out to Want?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  68. Never been a huge fan of Wrong Number, but Reeve's is fucking killing it!

    ReplyDelete
  69. As brilliant as they sound, they don't seem to be having a whole lot of fun. At Bestival there was a lot of tomfoolery and playing around. Not tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Go Reeves! That's what I'm talking about!

    ReplyDelete
  71. The only bad thing here is Robert's hair. He looks like he's been to Donald Trumps hairdresser

    ReplyDelete
  72. BEST SOUNDING THE CURE SINCE F*CKING WISH-TOUR!!! Finally some fresh imput.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Oh hey look, they still know how to play material from the 80's. :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. 100 years is so menacing...it almost makes me feel like stone cold killer lol

    ReplyDelete
  75. Disintegration. Okay, that one was predictable, given Plainsong as the opener. Let's see how it sounds with Reeves.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The way Reeve's is playing, Disintegration should be epic

    ReplyDelete
  77. Trust, want, wrong number, 100yrs, disintegration,

    ReplyDelete
  78. Actually with the set being Wish heavy and Reeves involved I REALLY hope they play Cut

    ReplyDelete
  79. Holy smokes! One of the best live versions of Disintegration in awhile! Simon's bass perfection.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I really hope somebody records and makes this audio available for download

    ReplyDelete
  81. I love Simons bass playing, but this distortion effect he has been using since the Trilogy shows is horrible, sounds like a Tin Can

    ReplyDelete
  82. Probably the best live version of 100 Years I've ever heard :O Disintegration sounding fantastic as well, best one I've heard post-Prayer tour probably

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thats how a tin can should be played! Powerful tin-can effect by Simon. What for Encore??

    ReplyDelete
  84. Unless they are doing a one song encore I think they may over-run on time.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. What do you think, Love Cat's to finish?

    ReplyDelete
  86. No way they'll leave without doing boys don't cry.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Apparently the remainder of the show will be aired tomorrow at 13:00 CET.

    ReplyDelete
  94. SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD!!! Reeves must be owning that one

    ReplyDelete
  95. Just like heaven, from THE edge of THE deep green sea, hungry ghost, a play for today, a forest

    ReplyDelete
  96. friday lm in love on youtube!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Goodshow but i think we can pretty much rule out the idea that reeves might work with them in the studio, cause they didnt play any new songs, although heres hoping im wrong

    ReplyDelete
  98. Love that they played surprises and also songs from each album or so, and from 'The Cure', 'Wild Mood Swings' and '4:13 Dream'. I'm almost sure that we'll have lots of other unattended songs all summer long. And what can I say about Reeves but that I'd love they'll do an album with this fantastic line-up. The Cure rule !

    ReplyDelete
  99. anybod have the audio for download

    ReplyDelete
  100. i wasted the last couple of weeks working out surprise songs they might play with the 4 piece line-up - now this beautiful surprise - and bananafishbones!

  107. Eric, he hasn't been with Bowie since 1999, also Bowie is pretty much in retirement, if Bowie were to come out of retirement I don't think Reeves would be his first choice. The funniest thing is Reeves had no interest in playing "the hits" as part of Bowie's band, but tonight the Cure played mostly hits!

    ReplyDelete
  108. sounds good from what's up so far.. i wanna hear one hundred years!

    ReplyDelete
  109. This is the first and last time I will ever comment about Robert's hair and I can't even believe I'm going to say it this time... I just wish it was even it out a bit, like not so "combed over the top" from the back. It looks great from the front, but really odd from the back. It's been like this for a couple years now. <- I really don't care, its always been about the music for me, this is just bugging me for some reason.

With that said... they sounded great. I kicked open a bottle of Duvel, turned it up and then they cut it. :(

    1. I loved the wildly asymmetrical look he had during the Reflections tour. It was totally out of control.

    2. I like how it looks now compared to 2008 an up until now. Perhaps hes covering it up from the back? but i still think it looked good, when he was singing disintegration i felt like i was in a time machine here and there.
I know its just hair, whatever, but hes always had cool hair, so i cant help but notice if it looks off as well sometimes.
      and
      ahhh duvel, good choice.

I can't wait to catch up on all the youtube videos. See you next time for sure, and now I am super excited to see this lineup in August!! I despaired that I would not see FTEOTDGS played live again!! :O Wow!! Cure love to you all!!

    1. The last confirmed time that Bananafishbones was played, it was Oct. 10th, 1984. However, there are some setlists from the end of that tour which have never been posted, so it's possible it was played later. But positive it was late 1984.

This answer brought to you by a total setlist nerd. : )

      Delete
    2. Thank you so much, Craig, I knew you'd have the answer, and I also knew it would have been a LONG time ago! I didn't expect it to have been 1984 though!! Amazing. It sounded just incredible. I'm currently still on vacation with my family or I'd have been hovering over my laptop waiting on the updates from the show with everyone else. I wonder what kind of surprises are yet in store for this summer!!? Thanks again for being here, Craig and all the wonderful people who make CoF a great place to hang out!

      Delete
  111. First time I saw them was October 27, 1984. They played all of The Top minus one or possibly two songs and I was trying to remember recently what was left out and I was sort of thinking Bananafishbones was. This date was also one of the few times Vince Ely played with them.

    ReplyDelete
  112. If they record with this lineup it could potentially kick them out of the post-Wish doldrums. Potentially... And I still liked a lot of post-Wish stuff...

    ReplyDelete
  113. Great set list! Bananafishbones Wow that is EPIC! I would die for a set-lit that included all of the songs from The Top. Thanks for all the videos & photos! Love seeing all this happy Cureness happening again. Too bad I won't be able to make any shows this summer but so glad for the COF for all the news!!! Next best thing to being there! Thanks Craig!

  114. Did anyone get a video of FTEOTDGS??

    ReplyDelete
  115. Ok...so I was with Eric's comment upon my first read of his post. Yep, it's fucking wierd that Porl and Chris are selling their shit. It's like a flag was being waved from important links from the past saying "enough already".

That being said, let's get real....a little house cleaning is what is needed to move forward. Those guys have lived the band for decades...their house has to be cluttered with so much shit. If I had massive amounts of cash, I'd buy it all, but I probably wouldn't be willing to carry all that baggage with me forever.

Back to my point...just got done watching the Pinkpop festival and it all makes sense. I bet that only a handful of the audience at Pinkpop knew that Reeves was a new guitarist, that there wasn't a 2nd guitarist for Bestival and that Porl leaving was years of discussions on fan forums. Rarely has there been a band that endured the test of time like The Cure. Break it down to the essence and it's because of three things... 1) The music is amazing. 2) the fact that Robert and Co continue to evolve and 3) The Fucking Music People!

What I'm saying is the same thigs I've been saying for what feels like forever. If you don't like The Cure, you simply don't like music...and that makes you a dickhead in my book.

Also...I still think they should release Join The Dots on vinyl...

Sorry....I just drank a ton while wathching Pinkpop....felt necessary to type...

    1. haha nice.
yeah its a little weird to see chris and porl selling stuff. Its fine if they are done, Robert, Roger, Simon, and Jason clearly aren't, and now Reeves is getting another taste of the fun, and adding excellence to excellence.
They were incredible good sounding, and it was the first gig!
Incredible! I will be glued to the tube this summer.

  120. I'm looking forward to seeing more. This lineup change has the potential to be very interesting . . . almost enough to make me drop my "everything's better with The Cure when Lol is present even though it's hard to say why" hangup.

Are they going to make 5:14 Nightmare now with Reeves and Roger redoing some of the guitar/keyboard parts? Drives me up the wall that that whole album is sitting there unreleased.
