11:53 pm - From Greg: "Austin is flooding, CRAZY weather! Note: Shake Dog Shake on the setlist but not played. Was intended to be after FTEOTDGS. Amazing show!"
11:12 pm - From Olivier: "One of the best festival shows I've ever seen. Singing One Hundred Years and Give Me It at the top of your lungs under the pouring rain in a crowd of Cure fans is an amazing thing to do! (Still drenched, though.)"
7:20 pm - From Olivier, the stage is being set up.
After 2 fantastic Cure shows, it's back to the festival circuit. Will they go back to the standard set, or will they continue the surprises? Find out tonight! Guessing they mix it up and make a few changes from the 1st ACL show. 'Stop Dead' really should make the set. It's fantastic! Same with 'A Night Like This' and 'Sinking'. (Hah! Got 2 out of 3! I'm going gambling now! :P)
The band are scheduled to play from 8 - 10 pm, and the full set will be livestreamed tonight. Watch here. US start times are 9 pm eastern, 8 pm central, 7 pm mountain, 6 pm pacific. Check the current time in Austin here.
With all of us watching the set online, no need for live setlist reporters tonight, but as always, Olivier will be ready to post updates at It's A Perfect Day if we need him. Hopefully he can take the night off and just enjoy himself. He's certainly earned it. Cheers, Olivier!

ReplyDeleteI'm a noob.. Explain how this works?
Is it similar to the livestream site/app where it counts down then comes up automatically at the correct time?
It's just YouTube. Go there at 8 pm (our time, not sure of your time), click on Channel 2, enjoy the show. :)
DeleteGot it.

It's okay. Happy to help and hope you can see it now :).
DeleteThe other links (YouTube) were working for me, too, but I'm just watching it from ACL's site directly.
Kendrick Lamar is on the stage now, but not for long (thankfully) ;-)
I respect all artists, but Kendrick just isn't my cup o' tea *sigh*

Deletei like the little smirk as he said that
DeleteI actually thought in 1986 when I heard it on Standing on a Beach (cassette version). I remember that to rewind the tape to listen to the unavailable Bsides it was eventually broken ...

ReplyDeleteYou're all kinds of awesome.
Another amazing night. It started pissing down during hungry ghost and hasn't let up. We're soaked but so worth it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Craig.
ReplyDeleteI got the link from your blog.
Couldn't stay awake to watch in the end but just caught Stop Dead. Can't rewind the youtube coverage despite leaving it paused on my computer in the hope of doing that. Hoping someone managed to capture it. I want to see that 100 Years/Give me it performance.
ReplyDeleteOops hit publish too soon, meant to say thanks as ever for the coverage.
ReplyDeleteReally hope someone will upload this to Youtube. I want to see it!!! Give me it give me it give me it
ReplyDeleteThe demonstration that festival setlists can be shaked. Will start thinking Robert reads my posts ;)) Hope they'll have bollocks to play 'The Scream' and '39' at Voodoo !
ReplyDeleteI hope not!
DeleteSome do. But it'd be so cool if they'd play 'Plainsong' for the 5,678th time, right ?
DeleteNow THAT was a festival set!
ReplyDeleteYeah but different
DeleteWow, no encore whatsoever. That's really atypical and surprising.
ReplyDeleteBoys Don't Cry was the defacto encore. They just didn't bother to leave the stage and return. They were over their allotted time, the rain was pouring down, so no reason to stretch it out any longer.
DeleteThe plug was pulled during BDC, only found was from stage amps.
Delete*sound
DeleteOh, and when are they going to take out 'The End of the World' from the setlist? There are more worthy songs from the self-titled album, such as 'Labyrinth'.
ReplyDeleteI'll take EotW over Labyrinth every time. If they are going to change it for another ST song, make it Before 3.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAgree about The End Of The World, doesn't sound very good live anymore! "Labyrinth" would be great I also think "Before 3" would be a stormer live. The song is so catchy it would appeal to the casual fan even more than end of the world. Before 3 has that classic cure pop/rock sound, it's unmistakably Cure
ReplyDeleteTEOTW is a good one. But so many songs deserve to appear live : Labyrinth, The Scream, A Strange Day, Lament, Out Of This World, Maybe Someday, The Exploding Boy, Burn, (I Don't Know What's Going) On, All Cats Are Grey, M, Three Imaginary Boys, Harold And Joe, The Big Hand...
DeleteYes, skint, put me down for Before 3. Love that song! One of very few decent songs on The Cure.
Deleteignoring the "f" bombs, before three would have been a strong single... love that song.
Deleteignoring the "f" bombs, before three would have been a strong single... love that song.
DeleteAs a Cure fan since 1984, it's my opinion that they should stop playing songs which have intros without drums... as we all know that Jason bashes the cymbals like crazy on those parts. Since the first song (Open), he began hitting the cymbals like there is no tomorrow spoiling the whole song.
ReplyDeleteThe same goes for A night like this, boys don't cry and all of the others.
It was a good show, I enjoyed it very much but Jason is still leaving a lot to be desired..
I'm not going to start another Boris vs. Jason argument, but Jason, while a competent drummer, needs to lay off of the cymbals just a bit.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteCraig i must have been typing about "Before 3" the same time you were, I didn't see your post before i started typing, great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me how to download the webcast from the DIME website? I created an account, but when I click on the link to the file, it just downloads a small file in about 1 second. I'm using a Mac, and have tried control-click as well, but it does the same thing.
ReplyDeleteyou have to use a "torrent client". download and install uTorrent.
DeleteI've got some videos from the ACL (2nd weekend) show on my youtube channel if you're interested in them! They're not the best quality but I was directly in front of Robert on the very front row! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5tQ78CslDY
ReplyDeleteI also caved and bought tickets to VooDoo so maybe I'll see you there! :)
