11:53 pm - From Greg: "Austin is flooding, CRAZY weather!  Note: Shake Dog Shake on the setlist but not played. Was intended to be after FTEOTDGS. Amazing show!"

11:12 pm - From Olivier: "One of the best festival shows I've ever seen. Singing One Hundred Years and Give Me It at the top of your lungs under the pouring rain in a crowd of Cure fans is an amazing thing to do! (Still drenched, though.)"

7:20 pm - From Olivier, the stage is being set up.

After 2 fantastic Cure shows, it's back to the festival circuit. Will they go back to the standard set, or will they continue the surprises? Find out tonight! Guessing they mix it up and make a few changes from the 1st ACL show. 'Stop Dead' really should make the set. It's fantastic! Same with 'A Night Like This' and 'Sinking'. (Hah! Got 2 out of 3! I'm going gambling now! :P)

The band are scheduled to play from 8 - 10 pm, and the full set will be livestreamed tonight. Watch here. US start times are 9 pm eastern, 8 pm central, 7 pm mountain, 6 pm pacific. Check the current time in Austin here.

With all of us watching the set online, no need for live setlist reporters tonight, but as always, Olivier will be ready to post updates at It's A Perfect Day if we need him. Hopefully he can take the night off and just enjoy himself. He's certainly earned it. Cheers, Olivier!

  1. The link goes to YouTube..

I'm a noob.. Explain how this works?
Is it similar to the livestream site/app where it counts down then comes up automatically at the correct time?

The other links (YouTube) were working for me, too, but I'm just watching it from ACL's site directly.

Kendrick Lamar is on the stage now, but not for long (thankfully) ;-)

I respect all artists, but Kendrick just isn't my cup o' tea *sigh*

  61. Wow, no encore whatsoever. That's really atypical and surprising.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Boys Don't Cry was the defacto encore. They just didn't bother to leave the stage and return. They were over their allotted time, the rain was pouring down, so no reason to stretch it out any longer.

    2. The plug was pulled during BDC, only found was from stage amps.

  62. Oh, and when are they going to take out 'The End of the World' from the setlist? There are more worthy songs from the self-titled album, such as 'Labyrinth'.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'll take EotW over Labyrinth every time. If they are going to change it for another ST song, make it Before 3.

  64. Agree about The End Of The World, doesn't sound very good live anymore! "Labyrinth" would be great I also think "Before 3" would be a stormer live. The song is so catchy it would appeal to the casual fan even more than end of the world. Before 3 has that classic cure pop/rock sound, it's unmistakably Cure

    1. TEOTW is a good one. But so many songs deserve to appear live : Labyrinth, The Scream, A Strange Day, Lament, Out Of This World, Maybe Someday, The Exploding Boy, Burn, (I Don't Know What's Going) On, All Cats Are Grey, M, Three Imaginary Boys, Harold And Joe, The Big Hand...

      Delete
    2. Yes, skint, put me down for Before 3. Love that song! One of very few decent songs on The Cure.

      Delete
    3. ignoring the "f" bombs, before three would have been a strong single... love that song.

  65. As a Cure fan since 1984, it's my opinion that they should stop playing songs which have intros without drums... as we all know that Jason bashes the cymbals like crazy on those parts. Since the first song (Open), he began hitting the cymbals like there is no tomorrow spoiling the whole song.
The same goes for A night like this, boys don't cry and all of the others.
It was a good show, I enjoyed it very much but Jason is still leaving a lot to be desired..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm not going to start another Boris vs. Jason argument, but Jason, while a competent drummer, needs to lay off of the cymbals just a bit.
