  2. Do you think the encores will be the same tonight/this morning?

    ReplyDelete
  3. im afraid that's too early for me, hope everyone in sydney has the best time ever!

curious as to how robert will incorporate simon's birthday song into the set

    :)

  4. Hi everyone.

    Good night!

i´m doing some college homework just before the beginning of the show.

I asked for a day-off in the job to be able to stay up the whole road until the end.

I can´t get focus on my task.

I´m so excited about the events.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Hello all cure-fans. Anyone who knows which songs they will play today at SOH? I mean, didn´t they play all the three albums yesterday?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Same set as last night. all 3 albums, plus encores. Encores might change a bit, but not sure about that.

    ReplyDelete
  7. You have a magic ball Craig.

Should we expect something special, different, for tonight or just the same setlist?

i know, it´s very early but a little preview don´t hurt anyone. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Thank you Craig:) And the videos on the site is just amazing:)) I look forward to the blu-ray:) /Lasse

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ill in bed & off work, catching up with yesterday's excitement has made me feel a bit better. The videos are phenomenal. Huge thanks to all the fans who shared them. Looking forward to more treats.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'll be here until the end of the show.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hmm. Craig, I hope that you and I aren't going to be the only ones here who are going to follow the show. lol

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hahaha...not really much suspense until they get to the encores. We know the set. Maybe a good idea to get some sleep and wake up in a few hours. : )

    ReplyDelete
  13. sorry, bit late today;-) good morning all of you!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Good morning!

    And here we go!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Do you think that we'll get 'The Weedy Burton' and extra-long versions of 'A Forest' and 'Faith' tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm hoping for an extended Faith at least. Weedy was actually on the setlist last night, but they skipped it.

But we must have a super long and gloomy Faith!

    ReplyDelete
  17. i'm curious if they change their encores this time;-) for trilogy they had the same songs but 2 more on the second night.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @ Shawn: I hope we get Weedy Burton tonight but I kind of prefer that they don't do longer versions of Faith or anything else. It would take up more time and make it less likely that they can squeeze in something else.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ahem, agreed with Craig, that is. :) Xploding_Boy, since this is a special event, how do we know that they don't already have extra time built in? :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'd be willing to lose the entire 3rd encore for an extended Faith.

    ReplyDelete
  21. But that's just me. I like it dark. : )

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hello I just got up and feeling groggy but I still want to catch the latest while it is happening at least as much as I can. Hate that I have to get ready for work soon!!! Wonder what will happen for the encores! Surprise us Robert!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hey CK. Fingers are crossed for new surprises in the encore.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Will do Craig, I'll miss all that while it is happening, driving to work and well you can't be on the internet when driving!

    ReplyDelete
  25. ck, sure you can, but it's not advisable. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. shawn yesterday I was trying to see what the encores were while driving to work and would you believe every traffic light that normally I always get a red light at on most days were all green yesterday. I couldn't even get a sneak peak to what was happening on my cell phone! I'm sure the same will happen today! And I almost got into an accident too, by looking just once while driving.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I just assumed there would be some type of curfew. I prefer to have more songs than to have a fewer because some were
extended. Extended versions would kind of add to the DVD though.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Really Weedy Burton? If so wow 1st surprise of the night! Will there be more? Sure looks like it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, it's good that you didn't get into an accident, because then you'd no longer have a mint car. Har, har, har... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yep. Olivier confirms that it was played tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not too much of a surprise since it was on the printed setlist last night but I'm glad they did it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. LOL! My car is almost 10 years old so it is no Mint Car!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wow the 1st set is over, this is going by too fast! Would be so cool if they planned more shows like this!

    ReplyDelete
  34. TIB was better tonight for me, or maybe I'm less sleepy and so is the band. First pause is soon over, people are coming back from the toilets and the bar, gonna try to record a video for this second part... Hold on!
    Bill

    ReplyDelete
  35. One of the cars that I considered before I bought my '96 Civic was a mint-colored Saturn SL. I'd seriously have gotten a license plate that read either "MNTCAR" or "MINT CAR" if I'd gotten the Saturn.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Bill should interview some fans about the show! : )

    ReplyDelete
  37. That would have been cool to get if you got that Saturn Shawn!

    ReplyDelete
  38. How long was the concert yesterday, not counting the pauses? There must be some kind of limit to how many hours a 52 year old can sing, play guitar and still stand up on stage.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Roughly 3 hours, or a little more, without the breaks.

    ReplyDelete
  40. berlin, 2nd concert trilogy concert lasted from 8.15 pm to approx. 0.30 am. the two pauses between the sets where 20 mins each. and a few minutes between the encores.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rober must be in super shape then. I would only last 50 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  42. happy birthday simon!!!! great! new version?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yeah they sang Happy Birthday to Simon! So cool! Happy Birthday to you!

    ReplyDelete
  44. God I wish I was there - sitting at my desk in Wimbledon and work's just not happening...

    ReplyDelete
  45. i'm at the opera at the moment but definitely not the sydney opera.

    ReplyDelete
  46. so true, never really thought of that.....
people can say all the fat bob jokes they want, but try standing there for 3+ hours with that huge mahogany schecter (just using an example, i never played the ultras, but im assuming theyre heavier than an 8lb jazzy) for 3+ hours under the lights in your 50s...

i was barely able to stand for a 2 hour rehearsal when i was playing in bands in my 20s with a j bass and no lights.

    ReplyDelete
  47. and think of all the lyrics to memorize!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Robert looks great and plays great for his age. He's gets better & better! I wish I had half the energy he has! He is in it for the long haul!

    ReplyDelete
  49. will the play top songs for the last encore today? caterpillar, shake dog shake, piggy?

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think Robert was just making a joke about The Top, but we can hope. We'll know pretty soon.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I sure hope the play something from The Top!!! It would be incredible! Bird Mad Girl please!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Bird Mad Girl would be so good!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Got to get ready for work now. :( It's just too hard to pull myself was from the computer!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yes! Bird Mad Girl would be great! I love Shake Dog Shake but I wouldn't mind hearing BMG instead.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Is it wrong to wish the Faith set was over already? :)

If we're starting A Top wish list, cast my vote for Wailing Wall.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Do I love The Top or what? It's the first real installation of the dreamy side of The Cure (which is my favorite). Birdmad Girl, Dressing Up, Caterpillar, Piggy in the mirror, Bananafishbones. Ah...the glory of it! The perfect concert would of course be The Top/Head on the door/Kiss Me

    ReplyDelete
  57. From Olivier: "Wrong last note on all cats are grey (where are those stickers? :-)). Big smile on Simon's part at that."

    : )

    ReplyDelete
  58. yes! doubt! only for the second time ever;-))))))

    ReplyDelete
  59. ok, we can bet they will use all cats are grey for the dvd from the 1st night!

    ReplyDelete
  60. that will be the definite lol version from now on!

    ReplyDelete
  61. c'mon all you US fans, fallen asleep?;-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. It wouldn't be right if Lol didn't make at least one mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Slightly extended, but no extra lyrics. : (

    ReplyDelete
  64. Still awake here. Anyone know where Andy The Cure Fan is tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Time for the crowd to sing Happy Birthday to Simon. : )

    ReplyDelete
  66. How hard must it be to hit that right last note on All Cats Are Grey? I saw them in ATL in 2000 and Roger played the wrong last note and RS came up behind and absolutely hammered the right last one. Interesting moment.

    ReplyDelete
  67. World War starts the 1st encore.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm back for a while to catch the encores before I get to work! So nice to see quite a few Top Lovers on here! Personally it's one of my favs! Play it all Robert, please!!! If they were going to play The Top in it's entirety at a future show, I will not miss that one for sure. Wishful thinking by hey you never know!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Looks like the 1st encore will be same as last night.

    ReplyDelete
  70. top is fine for me and i even like some wms tunes! both are totally underrated albums.

    ReplyDelete
  71. GCS1: c'mon all you US fans, fallen asleep?;-)

I'm was wondering that myself! But maybe now that the encores are playing more peeps will show up.

    ReplyDelete
  72. so happy birthday simon was a mix up of three and forever today? did i get that right?

    ReplyDelete
  73. I have a feeling the encores just might all be the same as last night but you never know!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Plastic Passion then Boys Don't Cry.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Did the audience sing Happy Birthday to Simon when the band came back on for the encore or did they do that in the 1st set?

    ReplyDelete
  76. might mix up the 3rd encore?
seems like theyre doing the first and second to coordinate with the sets/theme and will not stray..

    my guess anyway....

    ReplyDelete
  77. Yeah, if there's a change, I'm thinking it will be in the 3rd. But won't be surprised if it's all the same.

    ReplyDelete
  78. CK: Crowd Happy Birthday was before first encore.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Jumping Someone Else's Train

    ReplyDelete
  80. Thanks Craig, glad they got to sing Happy Birthday to Simon!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well why wouldn't the encores be the same? First: There is only so many songs you can keep in your head at once. Second: They are shooting a DVD and want two takes for each song. Third: Normal people only go to one of the shows so there is no point, really in changing anything. Fourth: If this was a 100 concerts tour I would be surprised if they didn't change anything after a while. But this is two monumental shows in two days.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'd still say it's likely they mix up the third encore. But yeah, the B-sides and non-album singles encores is what we all want to see, so no surprise that they're playing those again.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I agree with ya ferden but sometimes we like to be surprised. It has happened before. It's mostly wishful thinking for us on the most part. We want The Cure to play something different than the show before but I kind of knew they would not change it up. Still I am loving it!

    ReplyDelete
  84. i'm sure they will add some songs at the end as they did for the 2nd trilogy concert.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Sill can't get over these shows! I've got a major cure high and I'm not even ther!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Well, this is rather anticlimactic.

    ReplyDelete
  87. wait until 5 encore songs or what?

    ReplyDelete
  88. So far looks like it is the same as yesterday but still I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Robert probably sang 'wait until 5' instead of 'wait until 3'.

    ReplyDelete
  90. No, RS changing the "wait until 3" part in LGTB to "wait until 5". : )

    ReplyDelete
  91. Shawn: you do have high demands on life :) Did you find this whole concert series to be disappointing? Would you rather have COF being filled with Curespottings all of 2011 too?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Show ends with Lovecats.

RS: "Thank you very much and good night! Thank you, and see you again...'

    ReplyDelete
  93. Damn, they should have rounded off with Do The Hansa.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Wow it is over! It has been fun but now it is time to get into work! Thanks again to Craig for the updates & to all the fans providing us with the photos & news of the show! I enjoyed it so very much!

    ReplyDelete
  95. great show here from the perspective of my computer. can't wait for the dvd. and if weedy burton is not on it i'm gonna sue robert;-) thanks craig and the rest!

    ReplyDelete
  96. oh man, this was all done to prepare me to see "The Top" performed live! That's going to be amazing and maybe one of the best shows The Cure will ever perform. Can't wait!!!

    ReplyDelete
  97. freden, I don't ask for much, except from myself.

    ReplyDelete
  98. going to regret not going to this for the rest of my life....

    ReplyDelete
  99. Thanks to Olivier for all of the updates so we could all sort of be a part of it, to Bill for the videos tonight, and to everyone who was following along with us.

And most of all, thank you Robert, Simon, Jason, Roger and Lol, for still giving us so much enjoyment. We love all of you!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Me too, JL. But we'll see them the next time.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Oh yes I should say that too! Many Thanks to Robert, Simon, Jason, Lol & Roger for performing these shows! I loved every minute of it! Long Live The Cure! I love you!

    ReplyDelete
  102. And congratulations to Olivier on attending his 100th Cure show tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  103. If you've seen the Cure live, you should have no regrets for missing these shows. Robert has rarely performed a bad show and most of his best are when you least expect it. Thanks to everyone that spent time away from the performance to make videos for us. Can't wait for the DVD parties!

    ReplyDelete
  104. @Craig: They have to do something like this in the USA - don't they? Los Angeles, NY, New Orleans????

    ReplyDelete
  105. Now that the show is over, I'm going back to sleep. Good morning everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Have a feeling a lot more of tonight's show will end up on the DVD, incredible, a lot of smiles from the band, Roger laughing histerically sometimes, at what I don't know
After the hanging garden - Robert - 'now let's go drop some acid...'

    ReplyDelete
  107. Hahaha...sounds like everyone had a blast tonight! Good for them!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Also, dont think crowd got too far into happy birthday, got drowned out.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Aw, that's too bad. But Robert sang it during Three, right?

    ReplyDelete
  110. long live the cure (in which constellation ever), craig, cof and all of you;-)

    ReplyDelete
  111. Joe: That's what I'm telling them! : ) We'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Anyone found any videos of Foxy Lady, Meathook or So What? I'm curious to see what they were like, especially given the (deliberately?) messed up vocals for Meathook on the album. And I'm dying to hear Robert sing "offer closes 31st of December, 1979"!.

    ReplyDelete
  113. And you, too, GCS1! And all of the great Cure fans!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Uh, why were people expecting the set to be different?

It's the same show twice, they take two takes and choose the best of the two nights for the release.

    Pretty standard...

Far as I can tell, the first night, the one I went to was better, audibly. Roberts voice was just that bit better, most likely because of the long set the night before, and Simons party late at night with grog and banter etc.

Besides, the second night is always too safe. They've done it before, it's less electric. It's like the "just in case the first one didn't record properly" version, hence why they weren't so fussed when ACAG was messed up, because they fucking aced it on Tuesday.

Personally, I think anyone who went both nights is not only a moron, but a selfish asshole. Just by being there a second time, just by sitting in that seat, your taking the opportunity of someone who didn't get to go to either. A guy next to me told me he was coming back for the next night and I immediately palmed him off. It's nothing to brag about, and in fact, it's nothing but shameful in my opinion. I'd actually not tell anyone I went twice, to not look like a douche.

Wouldn't seeing something twice ruin the "special" aspect of it anyway?

"Oh mommy I want two pieces of cake!! I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT"

"but honey, the other children need to have some cake too! Your not a selfish cunt are you sweety?"

    Just my 2 cents.

Also, for positives, Simons bass sound was absolutely CRACKING, especially since I was close and at his side of the stage. Also, I give Jason alot of hate, but he really stepped up his game this time. Maybe the recorded version will have less to be jizzing over, but he was definitely much more confident, more tactile with the hits. Was all round the best concert I've been to, and that's stacking up against the likes of Massive Attack and Tool.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Yep, robert stole all the thunder! Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Dane, disagree with you on a number of aspects of your post. I always think the second night will be better, especially at a show like this where songs haven't been played often or in a while. The second night allows for more experimentation and improvisation, things that the cure are fantastic at and a reason I love them for.
I've seen a few bands both nights they've toured my city ( quite happy for you to 'palm me off') and the second night is always better

    ReplyDelete
  117. Haven't found any of those videos yet, Adam, but I'm sure they'll turn up. A lot of fans haven't had the chance to upload their stuff yet. Some will wait until they fly home. So just keep checking YouTube, and I will also post links when they come up.

    ReplyDelete
  118. cant believe a vid of faith is taking sop long to surface.

we have lovecats already but not faith, wtf?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Dane, i agree on some of that. But if you take out a second mortgage, run up a credit card, piss on work, family, and friends, and pay the skyrocketing airfare and hotel accommodations that is "austrailia", you may as well buy tix for both shows. Unless you're an Aussie. My dog is, but only by name. Plus some people in this world having nothing more than something to brag about. It's why facebook was invented, to brag. Look at my son at school, look at my new car, we're going to a festival, blah flipping blah. So you shouldn't be surprised someone might need to look at a complete stranger and smile and say "uh duhh, i'm going to the second, duhhh show too".

    ReplyDelete
  120. ALOT of cure fans follow entire tours, so i dont know what the issue with going to both nights is, hardly unusual from this bands following....

    ReplyDelete
  121. So true! They were once called the Grateful Dead of the goth rock scene. Or something similar. Meaning we follow them everywhere. Daryl called us the Black Swarm, a term borrowed from his Depeche Mode days. : )

    ReplyDelete
  122. @Craig - Ah yes, I'm being impatient... but hey, I like Meathook :p

    ReplyDelete
  123. Hahaha...no problem. I'm impatient, too. : )

    ReplyDelete
  124. @Dane: I kinda see your point, but with The Cure there's always that chance they will play something different from the previous show. They played different encores on the last Trilogy shows and this time they played The Weedy Burton on the second night.
So, don't slam someone for wanting to see The Cure as much as they want to. When they come to Texas, I go see them at every stop. I'll go to as many shows as I can afford to go.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Oh, to be a fly on the wall backstage right now... :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. @Kate - I can see it now:

Lol: We should have finished with Do the Hansa.
    Robert: You're fired. Again.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Sounds like an amazing show! so happy they played Weedy Burton :D also, singing happy birthday to Simon sounded like brilliant fun!

    ReplyDelete
  128. I find issue with going both nights because you all seem to forget this ISN'T a tour. tours, that the rest of the world infact, get far more frequently than Australia, might I add.

"we follow this band on this tour and this thing, that's what we allways do" that's all well and good.

BUT. This isn't a god dam tour.

This is a 2000 head event, for 2 nights only, with the EXACT same performance both nights.

Going both nights, and I'm sorry, but it makes you a regal dickhead. Be satisfied with your one, there is no need for excess and to go a second serving of the exact same thing, when others have missed out at your expense.

After leaving the first night, seeing some of the OTHER cure fans who didn't make it for all sorts of reasons, hanging around the area, there was a genuine look of disgust on their faces, and I could only feel the same after reflecting back on the bullshit I heard muttered over the crowds of idiots.

I was lucky to nab my ticket. I knew about the concert about 3 weeks before the internet did, and even I, with my insider membership, even with being told by a drummer 3 weeks before hand, I still managed to just grab a decent frontish seat.

If I was any less committed, I'd have no ticket at all, and frankly, seeing the gluttonous bloaty smarmy bellies of these "I'm never full enough" types, and hearing the dribble makes me want to choke puppies.

I refer to my previous "child with cake at a party" analogy if you still don't understand.

There is no justification to going both nights, for something like this. Sure, your well and truly within the legal and physical rights to go ahead and buy your second ticket. Money is of no importance for something like this.

But what you failed at, was the moral thing. Your pretty much exempt from the modesty club, have been elected high canceller of fuckwit city.

Just....feel good for going to an amazing show once? Is it that hard?

Also, the second show has been and gone, and from what I've heard, there was no "experimentation" or the like. Quit looking for reasons to justify your second serve. It was the same show, but marginally (very marginally) worse. In terms of atmosphere, band energy, and Roberts singing. I'd rather take an electric atmospheric environment over a slightly perfected performance any day of the week. We were treading new ground with the band when we watched them the first time. The second time is, the repeat.

From the videos that have surfaced, Robert has indeed toned back some of the notes, and was a little more shaky in general. Most of the audience appears to be sitting down more often too, for extra lame points.

Perhaps all those lazy people who already saw it? :smirk:

Oh, and don't even get me started on the mongoloids actually filming the whole thing, watching it through a screen. That goes beyond the call of duty for the royal badge of idiocy.

tl;dr: If you disagree, you can go back to meandering through malls and eating the shelf contents or whatever it is you do.

Just thought I'd turn up to offer some condolences and sympathy for the people who tried to go, and couldn't because of the above reason.

    ReplyDelete
  129. With my sour mouth aside, the show was beyond amazing, and I hope to god they had a good DOP running the shots.

If the film looks anything like the Vivid stills, even those who missed out are in for a treat whenever it releases.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Did anybody hear something? It was like someone opened a door and let out all the warmth in the room...

    ReplyDelete
  131. Xploding_Boy, I just saw your post about Andy. Believe it or not, he was at the second show! I'd hate to see his credit card bill for the trip...

Dane, I mean it in the kindest of manners when I say that you seriously need to chill. COF is generally a peaceful place, so please refrain from taking blanket shots at, well, everyone who isn't you.

    ReplyDelete
  132. @ dane: why do you put so much energy in all that? be happy that you saw a perfect first show and let the others their peace with attending the show twice. i haven't been there at all and i'm not jealous at all, just a bit sad that i couln't make it. some people in life are concert collectors and some are not. i can understand both. and if i would have gone the long way down under i maybe would have also attended both shows and would be honest enough to say if one of the shows wouldn't have been so great althought the trip would have cost me a fortune. to me greatness lies within the eye of the beholder. enjoy life!

    ReplyDelete
  133. & i must disagree. regardless of what the circumstances are, i don't know how it can be morally wrong to attend a concert.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Are you serious Shawn? I had no idea Andy was able to attend one of the shows after all, I'm so glad he was able to make it.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Yup, I'm serious, and I had no idea, either, until Andy commented on his FB, "and a 15 hour flight does not help. But it looks as though I have a Cure for all this," (he had a cold) and after I asked him where he was, he responded, "In a lot of credit card debt. ;)"

    ReplyDelete
  136. I just read his FB after seeing your post here. You're the Shawn that DJ'd the Vegas party right?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Wow. Low-rent iPhone videos and all (mucho appreciated still, very cool + thanks!) but am I the only one who can hear a ridiculously noticeable improvement in Robert's tone going back to the Roland JC and Fenders? The audio quality isn't great obviously, and the Opera House acoustics probably help too but the change is still audible. It'd be great if he kept the sound.

  141. We should start a "Lets Help Andy Pay-off His CC Bill Fund! That is dedication for you. Glad he got to see one show, I just hope he does not run into too much trouble financially in the future. I've been there twice for the very same reasons, going to shows for various bands in the mid 00's. It was worth it but did I go through some hell paying it off.

    NIGHT AND DAY difference!!!!
he needs to go back to this setup for good, or something similar, use the orange amps if you must, but keep the fenders and these pedals...

the guitars sounded so bad 05-09, i hope he notices how much better these two shows sounded than anything in the past 5 years, and takes note and action...

if things go back to guitar driven, no keyboards, 05-09 guitar rigs, i wont be following the band anymore.

seen them all around the world many many times vegas/coachella was the only time i felt like i had wasted my time and money...

out of probably 20 something shows from 05-09, mexico city were the only ones that came anywhere near the emotion of the previous tours.

RAH, Radio city, and Troubador were good shows too, but those were only because the venue played a huge part in making them special..
ALL the others, blah... i had never been so bored and turned off by cure concerts ever, and the guitar sound was a huge reason for this.

these two shows really gave me hope in the band again, because i lost it in the past few years..
they sound like the cure again, and i am fucking overjoyed

  149. Goodness, so much you tube brilliance to catch up on. Thanks to all those people who have posted videos, I certainly don't think you should be called assholes.
Ranty chap, you need to calm down. There are those of us here who have endured poverty, slept rough & put ourselves at great personal risk over the years to see this band, such is the devotion they inspire. I can completely understand the compulsion to attend both nights. Were my personal circumstances different, I would have done the same.

  150. Thank you Craig and everybody for this amazing work. For one like me, who couldn't go to Australia, following these two shows step by step, second after second, through the posts and the comments here was exciting, a real emotional ride. I don't know if the fans of other bands do the same but The Cure deserve, like one review said yesterday, this undying loyalty, they do, they totally do!

Oh and, of course, Happy Birthday, Simon!!!!!

  158. Xploding_Boy, sorry that I didn't respond right away, but I had to get some sleep, badly, and might need to go back to bed after this.

Yes, I'm the Shawn who DJed at the Vegas Cure party. I actually recorded the set as I was playing it, and the only reason it isn't online already is because of problems uploading that will hopefully finally be resolved over the next few days. You're welcome to download it then. :)

  161. To me The Cure is a better band today they were in the 80s. They are more confident on themselves and they play better; robert´s voice is better; schecter is gone.
This is the best cure ever. Not the morose band that we saw during the 90s and the 00´s. They are fearless because they have nothing to prove anymore. So they can mistake, improvise, invent and change and get the best out of it. This concert made me remember why i like the band so much. I guess they are preparing to play the top, head on the door and kiss me at Bestival, with Porl.

  165. I gotta respectfully disagree with you.

LOVED the morose cure of the 90s/00s.

I think the RS/SG/PB/RO/JC was the best live lineup ever.

Prayer was epic yes, and hard to beat the talent that that lineup possesed, probably the most talented cure lineup ever as a whole, BUT it was pretty much the same show every night with very few exceptions, most the multiple night euro dates..

But I still think the 95-04 played some of the best shows the band has ever done..

Some of those swing and dream shows were unreal.. Every night seeing a different show...

This could however be the start of the best cure ever, ill agree with you there.

So far nothing has topped prayer/swing/dream yet for me..

And I do agree that these shows reminded me why i love the band so much..

Things haven't sounded this good in a long time..

  166. Holy crap if they play The Top, Kiss Me and HOTD at Bestival I'll cream myself.

I doubt It'll happen...but that isn't going to uncross my fingers anytime soon.

  168. It's good to see that they are refreshed, even if playing just old material. Batteries are finally recharged, I suppose.
As others have said, the so-called guitar-driven Cure didn't work, not for me, not the way they were doing. There wasn't anything special anymore, everything was plain and boring.

As a guitar player myself (amateur), I know that certain kinds of guitars are more useful so to speak in certain styles and situations, and you can even try to use other instruments to emulate them, but it will never be the same. Has anyone tried to imagine BB King without Lucille, Brian May without the Red Special, Angus without the SG, Page without the Les Paul? It's the same for Cure, it has got to be the old Fenders, IMHO. In the keyboard area: string patches are outdated? OK, but this is how the Cure should sound like.

Maybe he could have still used more "updated" stuff like even the Schecters and some different effects and amps, but for different stuff, like the "accoustic era" which is how I like to call them after 1990. But for old material, why not dust the old stuff and play them (although these Fenders look pretty new...)?

There are some good moments in the new material of course, but overall, this kind of stuff seen here is what made me like and still keep liking and respecting this band. One should not try to reinvent the wheel, but maybe update it a little...

  173. Xboy, I thought I did crazy sh** to see The Cure.

M told me this morning that Andy went, I said he cant be, he was just here in L.A. yesterday!

I guess when he seen the setlist for night one, and the fact tickets just kept popping up, he decided to pull all his resources get a plane ticket for a 15 hour flight straight to Sydney.

Who am I Kidding I would have done the same thing if I was his age, and I knew of such a show taking place(no internet when I was his age).

Next time Xboy we are going. hopefuly it will be Top, Head, Kiss Me with B side!
