ReplyDeleteSorry guys but Robert looks awful in the getty picture.

http://gettyimages.com/detail/85083959/Getty-Images-Entertainment?axd=DetailPaging.Generic|1&axs=0|85083557%2c85084007%2c85083953%2c85083959|0
ReplyDeletelook better.
The first looked iffy indeed.
Wish I was there! See you all tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteGuess you're right Aaron - that was probably Tim Burton posing with the rest of the band in the webcam shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the 30 minute set going to be then? Anyone know what the schedule is..?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nme.com/awards/video
ReplyDeleteROBERT VIDEO
cheers Aaron,
ReplyDeleteForthcoming solo album...(that's mentioned twice now!)
Greatest hits tonight and a "trip through time tomorrow" that's whet my appetite!
what's a TARDIS?
ReplyDeleteoh, nevermind, Dr. Who reference.
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TARDIS
http://static.nme.com/images/09225_201726_robertsmithnmeawardspaphotos1.jpg
ReplyDeleteI wish I was there, or at least at home. I hate being at work when this stuff is going on everything is BLOCKED!
ReplyDeleteOh thanks Aaron for the video link, I needed that!
ReplyDelete"Godlike Genius Robert Smith sent waiting fans into a frenzy when he showed up tonight. Dozens of women hung off O2 Brixton Academy's balcony screaming and taking pictures. Hang tight for a very special performance from the band later."
ReplyDeleteSorry everything is bit by bit, im just trying to bring the info ASAP!
ReplyDeleteWhere's the TARDIS when you need it!!! I wish I was there!
ReplyDeleteKeep it coming Aaron!!!
ReplyDeleteAhh, the TARDIS. *Sigh*
ReplyDeletea time traveling set would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteif they could play everything in chronological order.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteEverythings quiet on cure front, Blur are palying live for first time in over 10 years though. If any likes them.
ReplyDeleteAndy, start with the present and work backwards, ending with the "old skool encore"
ReplyDeleteHow can they get 30 years into 1 1/2 hours - we'll need the TARDIS
Robert looks like Mr Grumpy Pants in that photo on the NME web site!
ReplyDeleteBut I love it!!! :)
They've done the trip through time twice before. At Inland Invasion in 03 and Paris Bataclan in 96.
ReplyDeleteInland set: 10:15 Saturday Night, A Forest, Primary, 100 Years, Figurehead, A Strange Day, Let's Go To Bed, Shake Dog Shake, Inbetween Days, Just Like Heaven, Pictures of You, Fascination St., Lovesong, From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, Want, Maybe Someday, 39, Bloodflowers
Bataclan set: Subway Song, Grinding Halt, Play for today, M, Primary, Funeral Party, Figurehead, Hanging Garden, Let's Go to Bed, The Walk, Dressing Up, Piggy in the Mirror, Push, Inbetween Days, Catch, Just Like Heaven, Lullaby, Prayers for Rain, High, Edge of the Deep Green Sea, Treasure, Bare
meld those two into one and we're in for a treat!
ReplyDeleteOh that would be sweet!!!
ReplyDeleteWonder what they will play tonight! We will soon know!
i want to hear dressing up and piggy in the mirror :c *whine*
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting and I'm only sitting here in my pyjamas with a mug of hot chocolate. I can't imagine what it's like to be there! XD
ReplyDeleteGo Heron, Jo and COF!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for Jo! It's so good to see her in these pics with the others.
ReplyDeleteThe stage looks amazing =)
ReplyDeleteV: I completely agree. Yay for Jo! Or should I say Rock & Roll Jo? : )
ReplyDeleteNext thing you know, she'll be going to Vegas! : )
Robert is on an NME advert!
ReplyDeleteomg.. he sounds so uninterested :P selling this weeks issue of nme for the cure cd :P
Yey for the COF Pit Peeps, rev & jo and everyone else! Glad you got in there! Looks cool onstage!
ReplyDeleteHave fun!!! Will catch up on the news after dinner! :)
OMG - AMAZING INSIDE!!! HOW EXCITING!!!
ReplyDeleteare they going to perform or just get the award?
ReplyDeleteCarlos: They are closing the show by playing a 30 minute set.
ReplyDeletenot hating on the forest setup, but why is it that it happens again? mtvICON had the same setup. Do people take the "A Forest" song too literal with The Cure?
ReplyDeleteCarlos, probably both. But i think a shorter set tonight than at the Big Gig tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteooh ok great, so who else is playing? and at wha time does the cure ctart?
ReplyDeletestart**
ReplyDeleteI wish I was there!
ReplyDelete:-(
I know what you mean, Andy. It looks Tim Burtonesque. Is he presenting the award to them,by any chance?
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know at what time is the cure supposed to start playing?
ReplyDeletec: 13 minutes to go
ReplyDeleteTHERE IS 5 IN THOSE NME PHOTO's
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE THE 5th one you can't see very we'll
could it be Boris or Lol???
(I thought it looked like Boris and he should be recognized with the bands success)
I am cureious to know who it is!
KelBel - the consensus was that it was Tim Burton.
ReplyDeleteThe fifth person on the picutre is Tim Burton, I guess. It's not Lol cause to person is to thin to be Lol and it's also not Boris cause Boris has no hair anymore but the person does have. ;p
ReplyDeleteKelbel: It was Tim Burton. He presented the award to Robert.
ReplyDeleteTim Burton makes sense if he was the one presenting the award.
ReplyDeletewait, i dont see anything from webcam 2!
ReplyDeletewhy meee!? and why is there a ticking clock that says that theres 1 hour and a half left for the thing to begin??
ReplyDeleteCarlos - I get nothing either
ReplyDelete:(
ReplyDeletewhat time is it in london?
ReplyDeletelike 10:30 pm?
Robert's wearing his fluffy jacket! Ha! The Cure rule the world!
ReplyDelete10:43 now! 11pm curfew??
ReplyDeletewhat do i do to get an image??
ReplyDeleteare they playing already?
ReplyDeleteCarlos: Yes, they are playing.
ReplyDeletebeen playing sicne about 10:30
ReplyDeleteapparently but I get nothing on the webcam...
ReplyDeleteJust want a set list!
fuuck! well, how do they sound? setlist? anything?? :(
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard from Heron yet.
ReplyDeletebut, aren't you watching it?
ReplyDeleteim confused:S
ReplyDeleteCarlos: It's a static image that refreshes every 10 seconds. Impossible to know what they are playing.
ReplyDeleteHeron help us!
ReplyDeleteCraig - should be done soon so she'll be in touch then I guess.
Is she filming perhaps?
-.-
ReplyDeleteno wonder.. sucks
Robert: Good point! Probably so. I'd rather have her filming, than sending the setlist. We can get that after the show. : )
ReplyDeleteBut she was also having e-mail trouble earlier today.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.cureconnections.com/new-live-2009/5097-25-02-2009-london-brixton-academy-shockwaves-nme-awards-godlike-genius-2009-a.html
ReplyDeleteSETLIST
Ouch!
ReplyDeleteDisappointing set list. I'm confident they'll make up for it tomorrow, though.
ReplyDeleteThank you Aaron!
ReplyDeletealt.end is a bit of a wildcard isn't it? Wouldn't have predicted that in the set.
ReplyDeleteCheers once more Aaron!
ReplyDeleteGood set, bring on tomorrow!
Off to bed now! Cheers all!
C U at the 02!
interesting, looking forward to hearing that speech
ReplyDeleteknew knew knew they'd open with Lullaby but what was the point in alt.end??? Fascination Street shoulda been thrown in at least!
ReplyDeleteBut with 30 mins what can you do? It was classic 3/4minute pop Cure all the way.
Bet Friday I'm In Love, Close To Me and Boys Don't Cry got the biggest responses from the celeb crowd.
they play (bleah!) alt.end alot cuz jason wrote it. surely to god robert could've added better words though. and, come on jason, my cat can write better music!
ReplyDeleteYeah Yeah @Jeff K. Jason sucks, he should left, Boris should come back. Blah Blah... who's this new Cure sing, Robert Smith? He sucks as well... Marc Ceccagno should come back instead of him. Yeeepah...
ReplyDeleteJust got back...great night...well thanks to the Cure and Muse and Elbow...hey to Rev, A letter to Elise and Debi.....nice to meet you all but why did we have to have this (awful looking and fat and annoying.. terribly bad RS lookalike-please get a fucking life..) causing trouble at the front..it's just way beyond me....will try to send some pics in a minute...but i fear theyt are not very good ..
ReplyDeleteYAY ELBOW WON AN AWARD TOO!!
ReplyDeletei cant wait to read the reviews :)
Pretty sure they played 'End Of The World' and not 'alt.end'
ReplyDeleteRobert sounded SO good and was very dance-y.
CAN'T WAIT FOR TOMORROW TO COME..
x
YES..THE END OF THE WORLD NOT ALT.END 100 PCT
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was "alt.End of the World"? :P
ReplyDeleteV, *laugh out loud*
ReplyDeleteI didn't say Jason sucked, Moontear, nor do I think that. I just don't like one of the songs he wrote.
ReplyDeletewell i happen to love alt end! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat show, I just got back from the gig. I managed to get right to the front which was amazing.
ReplyDeleteHere's the whole of "The Only One" - which was the only one i managed to record!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLBlFXyUn9k
Enjoy
PORL HIS WEARING HIS SPECTATORS!!!
ReplyDelete*dies*

http://www.flickr.com/photos/35782375@N03/?saved=1
Thank you.
ReplyDeletenow in GIF motion, lol: http://i41.tinypic.com/5ov1fm.gif
ReplyDeleteFor those that can't make it to the NME gig tomorrow night there is a one hour special (I assume it's just greatest hits videos) on NME TV in the UK at 9pm.
ReplyDeletepptt it wasnt cold!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing night, I had soooo much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice pics kinsellag! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was one exciting night!!!
wait, why is Porl's guitarre different? is it a new guitarre?
ReplyDeletecarlos he has three different design variations of the white schecter :)
ReplyDeletehe owns at least 9 of them, but there are 3 designs
Wow, i like a lot the Rsxnterview.
ReplyDeleteHe´s unique, he has a very magnetic personality
RSx YOU´RE THE BEST EVER..
Great to see CURE-COF friends over there.
Have a good time. Enjoy it.
Has somebody clue of what´s CURE playing tomorrow ?
I think they will open with UTS and after that, a maybe hard to predict setlist and encores.
;(
Hi CoF peeps! I am SO sorry that my email went south and I wasn't able to do updates. I still have 16 messages stacked up on my phone waiting to send but I don't have any energy left tonight to troubleshoot it. The guys were amazing, they sounded wonderful and the energy was great. The pit was very very rowdy and we got crushed up against the rail, but no complaints. I think if my email had been working then, I would have not been able to text as we were so squashed together in the pit. Elise reckons that perfectmurder was a perfect gentleman for helping her out during the raucous dancing, and says thank you so much JC!
ReplyDeleteI promise that I will try to get some more pics and the rest of the commentary from the show off my phone tomorrow before heading out to the O2. I understand there's also some video from the balcony on my camera as well but haven't had a chance to see it yet.
It was brilliant to meet everyone and I am so sorry we had to move the CoF meetup from the pub. Hope to see everyone at the O2!!!
Cheers,
Rev. Heron
Thanks Rev! Everyone have fun tomorrow and stay warm! Hope we get lots of video!
ReplyDeleteWas just watching this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKAmBPQCDBQ&eurl=
He's going to "celebrate in a very professional manner"... which I'm sure means hookers! Oh that Robert...
i liked that The Joy Formidable song they were playing in the background of the Robert interview.
ReplyDeletethose interview videos are hilarious. Nice shots from Heron :).
ReplyDeleteOMFG what an amazing experience. Started out second row centre in the pit - and ended up front row centre by the end.
ReplyDeleteThe crowd were great, right up until the Cure started, and then the puhing and shoving began.
Thanks SOOOOOO much to Perfect Murder (the perfect gentleman) - I think he saved my bacon a few times :-)
After the show, the COF peeps attempted to do some stalking, Caterpillar Girl managed to get Jason's autograph - but there was no sign of the rest of the band.
So after 14 hours of standing yesterday, the plan is to do it all over again for the O2 gig tonight.
BTW, Craig - I'm working on Vegas! I have tickets, just have to convince the hubby. If only I could organise a WoW convention for the same weekend, then it would be a given.
Anytime Rev and Elise... hopefully see you tonight at the 02..yes, my tickets turned up this morning....
ReplyDeletePM - So glad your tickets arrived!!! Hopefully we will see you at O2.
ReplyDeleteJo,
ReplyDeletei would LOVE to meet you at Vegas.
Kate said..
ReplyDeleteWOOOO!
GO KATE!
Just a thought that occured to me regarding a post on this site last week..someone(can't remember who) said RS looked fat on Jonathan Ross's show last week...Standing the closest i could have got to him last night, i can categorically say that he does not...(those things don't matter to me but i felt like getting the record straight)..i would say it was the tv that made him look that way...also, from seeing him from a balcony before the show..he is not follically challenged at all..unlike me :(
ReplyDeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteI was responsible for the typo, Alt.end instead of End of the world. How embarrassing?
I texted it in after the song had finished and for some reason I put that. Sorry for the confusion!
Heehee, Andy!
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, Jason! Glad you got to be there--looks like it was a total blast!
ReplyDeleteGreat Comment from Tim Burton !!!!
ReplyDeleteBurton then added his tribute.
"I just wanna say when I was chained to a desk, and I was fucking depressed this music was the only thing that saved me," he said "I just want to thank you for inspiring me."
Accepting the award Robert Smith thanked the crowd declaring: "Thank you so much, This is very different to singing! Thanks to the NME. I'm flattered. Thanks to Tim Burton, him presenting makes it all that more special.
"I'd like to thank the band. Simon, Jason, Paul, thanks for sticking with me for 33 years. And thanks to the fans, for buying the records, coming to the shows. If you've had half as much fun as we have it's been worth it."
He said the last line at the brits in 91
ReplyDelete"ive youve had half as much fun as we have, you'll die happy" or something similar
:P
gotta love bob! I shall be watching friday
