The SummerCure tour comes to an end tonight in Ireland. The Cure are scheduled to play from 21:00 - 00:00. In the US, that's a start time of 4pm eastern, 3pm central, 2pm mountain, and 1pm pacific.
Unfortunately, there won't be a webcast from the final show, but radio station RTE 2FM are broadcasting live from Electric Picnic all weekend, and say they will be airing 1 hour of The Cure starting at 9:50. So we get the 2nd hour this time. You can listen online here.
Look at the picture that Reeves just posted on Facebook...

He's right you know
DeletePresent!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we will get that "one new song" after all these shows.......
ReplyDeleteI'm not holding my breath. :)
Deletewonder and hope too...
DeleteChecking in for the live show! I'm sad we didn't get Plainsong at Reading or Leeds :/
ReplyDeleteRobert won't play any new stuff but probably a surprise like a Pornography encore... That's my bet...
ReplyDeleteRev, I love you.
Hi David! Love you back! I am holding out hope for a new song, Robert always disappoints me though :D
ReplyDeleteI hope he'll make you happy and I'm wrong, Rev...
ReplyDeleteYay!

ReplyDeletehearing Rob's wavering falsetto is just shivering... :)
ReplyDeleteCould well be the last time The Caterpillar is ever played
ReplyDeleteyes, until next trilogy/reflections! :)
Delete...and Bananafishbones
ReplyDeleteWHY do that stupid guys begin to talk talk just to say they won't talk so much? maybe a radio host is not able to shut up for longer than 10 minutens, thats why they became radio host!?
ReplyDeleteBananafishbones getting extra funky/freaky.
ReplyDeletesounded freaky as never, indeed!
DeleteI love this live rendition of Bananafishbones. It's so funky!
ReplyDeleteI got ahead of myself, LOL - still I do love me some Bananafishbones!!
ReplyDeleteFunktastic!
ReplyDeleteNow here's an idea for the next Reflections: Get Andy back! Start out with LoveCats (yes, even though it ended most of the prior Reflections shows), Speak My Language, Mr. Pink Eyes, then The Top. Then THOTD . . . with Boris? Andy? Jason? Lol?
ReplyDeleteRobert has not spoken with Andy since 1984. Andy was more of a session drummer than a true band member.
DeleteSaid it before and I'll say it again, with so many songs in the canon, why do they keep playing The Walk?
ReplyDeleteoh FFS!! They said they weren't going to talk!
ReplyDeleteOkay, at least there was some sort of guitar outro at the end of The Walk. Sometimes they leave that out.
ReplyDeleteYAY!! I am probably in the minority, but I ADORE Mint Car!! Wish we'd gotten it at R&L.
ReplyDeleteI love it too!
DeleteLove it too. Sounds really good on this tour.
DeleteIs it just me or do they sound unusually "alive"?
ReplyDeleteThink the mix it pretty "alive". RS, Reeves and Roger aeach are good to hear. Also they're playing with A LOT of energy, it seems.
DeleteI like Mint Car the song. Live? I'm 50/50 on it.
ReplyDelete"With so many songs in the canon, why do they keep playing The Walk?" Because too some people it is the only song they know by The Cure. When I saw Reflections in LA the girl next to me took a break during the Seventeen Seconds set then came back after PFT and said, "Dang, did I just miss 'The Walk'?"
Yeah, I know, but still.......
DeleteJust so you guys know, I'm a 25+ years Cure fan and I love hearing The Walk live more than ever. Not as much as Just One Kiss, but still.
Delete25 + years for me too and every time I hear it I think of the other tracks they did around the same time they could play instead and never play and would just as easily please the crowd, half of whom will probably think they're listening to the walk anyway...
DeleteSure, but they wouldn't please ME as much. Gotta be worth something ;). Just wanted to point out it's not as simple a matter of 'long time Cure fans' versus 'the crowd' when it comes to enjoyment of 'rare stuff' versus 'hits'. Plus, things change over time: fifteen years ago I'd have definitely shared your sentiment.
DeleteGreat long broadcast by the way, awesome.
25+ years here too. I adore The Walk, and always enjoy hearing and seeing it.
DeleteHaha, Robert made "kiss kiss" sounds.
ReplyDeleteEspecially in these festival settings they need to make sure they are keeping a mixed crowd occupied.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, great to hear Trust live just one more time.
ReplyDeleteAhh, roger!!! I want him!
DeleteTrust is so amazing, Robert's voice and Roger's keys just give me the chills!
ReplyDeleteThe keyboard section in the middle of Trust has just got better and better as the Tour has gone on...
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful :)
This is like "Trust" getting the Disintegration treatment.
ReplyDeleteAnd Want! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWe got lucky today!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmmm.... No Lovesong yet.
ReplyDeleteDisintegration encore?
Robert singing if he's 20. What an energy.
ReplyDeleteWow, Just One Kiss on the main set!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhhhhh!
ReplyDeleteJust one kissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
ReplyDeleteSo "Just One Kiss" might have been the A-side?
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was Robert's favorite of the two, but the powers that be decided differently. The story is documented in the Join The Dots booklet.
DeleteOMG..JOK! We got it in Sondboard:))))
ReplyDeletesounds A M A Z I N G tonight as well! O_O
DeleteLament.....please!
ReplyDeleteFinally! JOK in FM quality!
ReplyDeleteI'm breathless.....
ReplyDeleteLoving the new guitar riffs on JOK.
ReplyDeleteGet the lineup to record a new studio version of JOK.
ReplyDeleteBob's having a blast tonight!
ReplyDeleteSurely they've got to do a Reflections 2 and play all these tracks, Top, THOTD and KMKMKM, they seem to be having so much more fun with these tracks....
ReplyDelete"half of whom will probably think they're listening to the walk anyway... " LOL exactly...
ReplyDelete;-)
DeleteNice audience participation on Play For Today.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss something?
DeleteWith a mix that's very centered on the stage, like this one, the fact that you can hear the audience at all means they're really doing their best out there.
DeleteThe main will probably be longer tonight, no ?
ReplyDeleteThis is going to end too sonn :-(
ReplyDeletePSST! Don't let them know!! :(
DeleteDON'T LET IT END!!!! DON'T LET IT END...!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if Reeves will stay and what songs they'll play in South America if they tour there next year...
ReplyDeleteHah, Simon totally killed his bass at the end of A Forest. Too bad that's the end for tonight. Had a fun hour though, absolute highlight was Just One Kiss.
ReplyDelete27 songs in the main set already !!!
ReplyDelete28 ! And End to come ?! And Disintegration ?!!!!
DeleteI think they'll end with Disintegration, so far in this tour whenever they've started with Plainsong they ended with Disintegration and when they've opened with Open they ended with End. But it could change :P
DeleteRobert looks more slim and fit at Pinkpop (may) than now after 4 months.
ReplyDeleteI think he needs a rest of 4 years to recover :-)
No sign of that new song yet. But with JOK and LGTB on the main set, I don't think we'll be getting a pop encore. SDS means no The Top encore either (though The Top by itself might still happen). So let's see what the last half hour will bring.

ReplyDeleteRobert truly saved the best for last, which in this case happens to be Ireland, the last stop on the summer tour 2012. This set has been flawless. I was the guy that said a while back this this SummerCure has been too light for my taste, but this set mixes the perfect amount of dark and gloomy with light and poppy. The Cure never ceases to amaze and impress me with their work... If only I were there to see this last set on the tour!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a tour ! The Cure have never been so good since the Dream Tour and The Prayer Tour and Trilogy and Reflexions... a fucking amazing band, in fact!!!
ReplyDelete10:15 Saturday Night! there's still hope!
ReplyDeleteIt's not over yet! Let's see how far they can stretch this. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping this will be the one on DVD...
ReplyDeleteBy my calculations they have played at least half of The Top during this tour.
ReplyDeleteHad there been some rumor that they might play a new song?
Yeah, Robert said they'd play it once at Ireland because it's beautiful, maybe someone will post the quote :)
DeleteThey played 5 of the 10 songs from the Top, so yes, that's exactly half the album.
DeleteAnd Robert said in an interview some time ago that he would play a new song in Ireland and he would play it only once. And also something about it being a beautiful song.
I still haven't heard Robert actually say this. All I ever saw was a translation of the French interview, where the translator said that. It was most likely a bad translation of what Robert actually said.
DeleteBUT...if he did say it, why would you believe him? Haven't you all learned by now? :)
You probably believe they went into the studio to record during the 3 week break, too. Robert lies! He loves to lie! He's admitted it. It makes interviews more enjoyable for himself. :)
Hmm... well, I want to hear it now.
ReplyDeleteEnd of Show :( No new song
ReplyDeleteUgh. The accompanying unfortunate truth is that The Cure also seems to have lost the ability to even release just a single if that's all the needs to be released.
DeleteNo new song but 40 songs, that's it ?
ReplyDeleteje le savais qui il aurais pas de nouvelle chanson ca sent la fin de the cure ! surtout que la plus par des membres sont partie ( les membres original :porl, lol, boris, perry)
ReplyDeleteNot to mention of the original member Eric!! Since he left, The Cure just amateurish crap with a senile RS destroying the legend he used to be 2500 years ago. Oh, how I wish it was 374 before christ again, when they made these legendary drak albums with the defining hand of Eric, the genius. THAT was The Cure and nothing else! Please come back Eric!!
DeleteExcellent ! Reading this while awaking will made my day. Lol !
DeleteWe know the lying part but they are now dangerously close to breaking their "new album every four years" track record. They are living on past glories now and actually doing it quite well, but the hope for new material keeps getting doused. As I've said many times they don't even seem to be able to just release a single or two. Now it's, "release an album, then no new material for at least the next four years."
ReplyDeleteWe'll get another record out of The Cure, but that will probably be it. At the earliest we'll get one in 2013.
DeleteChain of Flowers @CraigatCoF Robert: "I will play a new song, in Ireland. I will play it once. Because it's beautiful"
ReplyDeleteO RLY?
Again, that is a French to English translation of what Robert was reported to have said. Never actually heard him say that.
DeleteI actually saw a different translation that said he wrote a new song in Ireland.
Either way, no new song was played, so it doesn't really matter, I guess.
merci lapsang@ pour ton commentaire:)
ReplyDeleteWas kind of expecting a 'Forever' closer. Isn't this the first tour in, um, forever that they didn't play that as the final song of the final show??
ReplyDeleteYes, a rare event that 'Forever' didn't close the tour. Perhaps that means more to come in 2012, but I doubt it...
Deletewhat an incredible setlist to end the summer in western...i thought TSDWAY would be followed by The Kiss and IOTWCS...but it's all great since there is KAA and the drip, drip song..haha :)
ReplyDeleteJust back home after amazing show last night...Its such a downer thats its all over after looking forward to it for so long, but looks like we were lucky here in Ireland with the set.....fantastic night!
ReplyDeleteAnybody noticed that one of Robert's guitar has "I really don't know what I am doing here" embedded on? I hadn't seen this before (http://www.flickr.com/photos/acrosstheline/7910400874/in/photostream/lightbox/)
ReplyDeleteYes, that's the Bunny Lake Open guitar. :)
DeleteHe's used it every time they've played Open on this tour.

Now for the Top, Head on the Door, and Kiss me, special shows!
ReplyDeleteelectric picnic was so awesome. it is my favourite show of the 9 i saw this summer. what an amazing summer it really was. perfect.
ReplyDeleteRobert did say see you again!
ReplyDeleteIt was a cracking gig and I was really happy with the setlist given that it was a festival. I cried when Plainsong started as I haven't seen them since 06 at the RAH and it was looking very unlikely that I'd make this one, so I raised money for charity (including a ticket) by cycling there from Dublin.
ReplyDeleteEven the 'plastics' who were with us thought it was awesome. Also got right to the front for the first time - with no bother, thanks to the recession I think.
Robert was evidently struggling when they got to Disintegration but that is proof of the immense effort they put in to give us something special.
My favourite band at my favourite festival. It will live long in the memory. Thank you.
PS Was surprised to meet Matthieu Hartley in the band's aftershow party in Dublin in 1996, but I guess that's not news to many here
