8th and final night of the LatAm Tour. If you're Robert Smith, and you find yourself in Mexico on your 54th birthday, what do you do? You throw an enormous party at the Foro Sol stadium, of course! Looks to be a sold out show tonight, with 50,000 + fans ready to celebrate. All of this has the makings of an epic show. We'll see. Either way, I hope you all have a fantastic time!
Happy Birthday, Robert. Hope it's another night to remember forever.
Schedule: 5:30 - Lorelle Meets the Obsolete, 6:20 - Johnny Indovina, 7 - Andrea Ballency, 8 - The Cure. Check the local time in Mexico City here or with the clock over there on the right.
Should have reporters for the live updates tonight, but with the trouble everyone is having getting a signal at these shows, who knows? I'll give it a shot, and hope that I can piece it together from random reports. At the very least, we should have the setlist posted after the show. If anyone who's going to the show would like to attempt to help us, especially with the song by song live setlist reports, please contact me. Post in the comments, email me at craigatcof(at)gmail(dot)com, or on Twitter @CraigatCoF, or use WhatsApp (email me and we can set it up). Thank you so much, and enjoy the show!
Happy Birthday Robert, thanks for everything!
ReplyDeleteJoyeux Anniversaire, Robert! et merci pour ta musique! all of you in Mexico, enjoy the show!

ReplyDeleteSo, I was browsing the web and ran into this Mexican FB page
Happy birthday! Enjoy the Show.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know If Robert is at the hotel still or in Foro Sol?
ReplyDeleteTonight could be the most vibrant moment in Cure history, believe me. The day for The Cure to become historical and mythical. They'll play for 4 hours, with 4 encores and 50 songs. David Bowie will join for 'The Scream' and Neil Young for 'Pornography'. Rolling Stone USA will put The Cure on cover and Time will announce Robert man of the year. Rock Hall Of Fame is already scheduled, just before the package with 'Orange', 'Show', 'Play Out', 'Paris 2008', 'Sydney 2011', 'LatAm 2013', '30th Anniv. dvd', 'Mixed Up 2', 'Wish + Lost Wished Deluxe', '5:14 Nightmare', the new album called 'Stars In Your Eyes' will reach #1 worlwide sales. There will be The Beatles, Bowie, The Cure and no one else.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot only the part about the encore with all cure members together playing Forever.
DeleteAnd the part about the last Encore being Faith + Forever with Lol as the guest star.
DeleteCome on, David, weed day was on the 20th. Put that bong away, now. :)
DeleteCraig, Z, Heron... They did play for more than 4 hours and 50 songs ! My bong was of good quality, don't ya think?!
DeleteI knew it would be that great. And now let's wait for the package, guys.
Back home finally and checking in for the Mexico City / Birthday thread!! The balloon paper is DEFINITELY KelBel, she posted a pic of them on her FB page a while back. SO happy for all the fans in MC tonight!! We will be with them in spirit for sure!
ReplyDeleteBeer is flowing freely at the stadium
ReplyDeleteLast Latam show..enjoy, Mexico!!. Have fun and celebrate along with Robert :).
ReplyDeleteThey're gonna start with Open.
ReplyDeleteNo, it must be Plainsong!!
DeleteWe'll see. I'm not expecting any surprises at this show. I think it will be standard 3.5 hours and no more, ending with Killing an Arab.
DeleteHopefully they will finish with the Faith encore that we were meant to get for Robert's birthday in Las Vegas four years ago.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI think that would be awesome, hope they get it!!
DeleteI'm feeling it not happening tonight for some reason. There will be 3 encores, with the last one being the same as all the concerts. That's my prediction.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThank you!. I listened a bit of Push
ReplyDeleteI wonder why Robert likes Sleep When I'm Dead so much...?
ReplyDeletehappy happy birthday, robert. thank you for all of it! and awaaaaay we go!

ReplyDeleteI am ON tonight!
ReplyDelete:| you a-cheatin'?
ReplyDeleteNo way! I called Open to start and I called Encore #1.
Delete*sad trombone noise*
ReplyDeleteEncore #2: Same Deep Water As You, Shake Dog Shake, Charlotte Sometimes, Primary.
ReplyDeleteEncore #3: Cold, A Strange Day, The Hanging Garden.
Encore #4: Standard last encore of tour without Dressing Up.
Like you had a crystal ball!
Deletecan't be right all the time!
ReplyDeleteHaha true. :(
DeleteLove these encores - fingers crossed they get FAITH!!
ReplyDeleteforever too!
ReplyDeleteForever would be amazing.
DeleteIt would be awesome if they get Faith/Forever
DeleteThis is not going to happen... No way are they playing Faith and definitely double no way are they playing Forever.
ReplyDeletealright, buddy- let's jazz dance over on twitter! i see you over there!
DeleteOh my god they're playing the whole tour setlist tonight!!!
ReplyDeleteExactly! And then some!
Deletei fainted 2 hours ago.
ReplyDeleteThis is just insane!!!!!!
ReplyDeletesolo robert!!!
ReplyDeletei wet my knickers.
ReplyDeletehonestly, this is epic!!!
Solo Robert!!!!!!
ReplyDelete50 Songs!!!!
Wow - they really rocked Mexico City..... even more than the earthquake :)
epically epping epic!!
DeleteLongest concert in Cure history? Thnx you Robert and thanx to all the guys in the band. Epic night
ReplyDeleteYes. In length and by number of songs played.
DeleteThanks Craig.
Deletewill this go down in guinness (if not the beer then surely the record book)? ;D
ReplyDeleteOh, good question! What is the longest concert ever played? I mean real concert, not some guy with a nose flute or something silly. :)
Deleteit probably was some jam band. ugh. someone get on this STAT!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletePHISH or CAN?
ReplyDeleteLed Zeppelin? Springsteen?
ReplyDeleteI think Springsteen holds the record for the longest concert..
ReplyDeleteDid anyone record this?
ReplyDeleteHopefully Tim Pope did :)
DeleteFirst, did Jason finally learn to play drums? He was usually OK, not great, not bad either. However tonight he was spectacular.
ReplyDeleteSecond, here comes the blasphemy. I didn't miss Porl. Still love him, but Reeves was phenomenal.
Third, great to have Roger back. Highlight, stunning arrangement he made to Trust.
Fourth, 4+ hours, 50 songs? Can't go to sleep, yet.
this comment is excellent! the part about Jason made me laugh, right out loud! Also, I really hope i get a chance to hear/see them on this "Random Festivals Tour".
DeleteIm dead curious about Reeves vs Porl.
PS: I still miss BORIS.
The Bruce Springsteen concert in Helsinki last year clocked at 4.06. At least until then (July 31, 2012) it was the longest Springsteen concert ever. However he made a pre-show acoustic set of five songs that night as well, if including that one it was a longer show than The Cure last night.
ReplyDeletenooooooooooo!
DeleteJeeze, I burst into tears when I woke up and saw this set list. Is that abnormal?
ReplyDeleteI've seen them live 10 times already. Yesterday was the best show ever. Perfect sold out. Amazing setlist. 4 hrs show. And Happy Birthday Robert, I will always remember this gig!!! :)
ReplyDeleteKiller setlist!!!!. I'm getting emotional again, SO happy for Mexico city :). However The Cure can't leave latam, you owe us 10 more songs, come back!!
ReplyDeleteTried to bring a recorder but caught.Hope someone's made the job!

ReplyDeleteI'll never forgive myself for missing this concert...
