ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Simon!!! Here's hoping RS sings you a fantastic birthday songs!! ;0)
ReplyDeleteAnd Craig, wishing you safe travels and for zero flight delays!!! ;0)
Am looking forward to the show tonight and hearing this lineup again. It's a year ago that the first Reflections shows were taking place in Sydney and Robert's Happy Bithday Simon version of Three. I hope Barcelona greets you warmly for a very happy birthday to Simon. CR
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is still up and caught the Primavera Sound webcast yesterday just to see how it was, did you have to click a "play" button once you got to the site, or did it automatically start showing it?
ReplyDeleteI setup my recording on a timer, but I need the media to start streaming immediately. If I would need to press 'Play' then I wouldn't be able to do it. :(
It was automatic yesterday, no need to press play.
DeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY, SIMON!!! WISH YOU THE BEST AND SO WITH THE CURE!
ReplyDeleteThe eternally young Simon!!!
ReplyDeleteThe eternally young Simon!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Simon...
ReplyDeleteAnd a Happy birthday to my son Simon who is 20 today as well...
what time 22.10 is spain or england or germany?
ReplyDelete22:10 is the start time in Spain, so England would be an hour before that, I think. Check the World Time Server clock that I have on the page. It will tell you the current time at Primavera.
DeleteHappy Birthday, Simon! I think us fans will be more disappointed than you if you don't get your birthday song!
ReplyDeleteHopeless wih time differences..
ReplyDeleteWhat time will that be in Oz?!
Happy Birthday, Simon!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's 6am Saturday morning in Oz
ReplyDeleteHey Craig, just a thank you for all you do for us with this website, changing flight plans is above&beyond and I hope it didn't screw up your life too much!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Simon Gallup! I love you
ReplyDeleteMan, it feels good to be excited about The Cure again. :)
ReplyDeleteBAD NEWS!!!
ReplyDeleteIt appears that Wavves concert will start at 23:15. So... just 65 minutes of THE CURE??
I'm afraid you're right...
DeleteSo, is this going to be the live show thread for chatting? :D I'm in!
ReplyDeleteI hope... its still working hours so I can't do it on FB like last week.
DeleteSo... I can't get the PS3 to work for the current webcast which means it will not work later. Time to hit best buy... I will have this experience to be in surround and in HD if its the last thing I do.
ReplyDeletewhat is all the racket playing over top of the steam? someone else is playing a guitar and singing out of key at random times. i know im not going crazy...there's some other sound being overlayed. is it some sort of youtube piracy protection thing?
ReplyDeleteNo racket playing here. Can the sound come from any window you have open without noticing?
Deleteseems to have gone away with the newest stream (AFROCUBISM). that was weird. i got worried! lol
DeleteAnyone in Germany able to watch this...? Please don't tell me this is one of those hideous GEMA-restricted pages?? I can't load the video, even though I'm using "Proxtube" for Firefox...
ReplyDeletesame here,scheisse mann!!!
Delete"Das Video ist nicht verfügbar" :((
DeleteI've a good livestream here...can't wait to see my heroes.
ReplyDeleteLast week I saw them live at Pinkpop.
And you didn't like it much if I remember. :)
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI'm a fan since the early eighties....but I really think Robert has to stop playing the old songs over and over.
DeleteI prefer him to write news songs in which I can drown....
I would love to hear some new songs too. Good ones if possible. But I still love the old ones. And I think they're playing them very well, so... if possible it's ok with me to see The Cure play live every year withe new songs or old songs. :)
DeleteI can´t get the livestream working? Somethings wrong, try later??
ReplyDelete/Lasse
here we go
ReplyDeletePlainsong
ReplyDeleteYeeeee!
ReplyDeleteALL SET UP
ReplyDeleteI think it's dark...
ReplyDeleteNo Reeves
ReplyDeleteHe comes out later, I think
DeletePlainsong sounds amazing!!
ReplyDeletePictures of You, of course! Now Reeves...
ReplyDeleteYeah Reeves on the stage for Pictures of You
ReplyDeleteWonderful SOUND!!!
ReplyDeleteWas there really no cheering or clapping after Plainsong? It seemed awfully quiet when they finished the song.
ReplyDeleteEverywhere i went today they were playing the cure, even Sears.
ReplyDeleteoops, wrong lyric! hahaha
ReplyDelete:D I love it when he does that!
DeleteWHO'S THE UGLY MAN PLAYING SECOND RED GUITAR??????????????????????????
ReplyDeletewho is reeves????
ReplyDeleteCheck wikipedia, dude. Bowie guitarist he is.
Deletethanks
DeleteYAAY!!! High
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!
ReplyDeleteHigh
ReplyDeleteSimon's bass is KICKING ASS at High
ReplyDeletethanks.......guys highhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteLove the surprises! <3
ReplyDeleteReeves Gabrels is David Bowie's former guitarist. He worked with Robert on a few songs a while back.
ReplyDeletethanks..:-))
DeleteNo changes from Pinkpop so far... I wonder what kind of surprises they'll pull out of the hat this time.
ReplyDeleteRobert is as cute as hell today.
ReplyDeletetwo beers... wow, just heard Simon's bass run just before last versus of High... very cool.
ReplyDeleteNice vocal change up at the start of EOW.
ReplyDeleteThe Cure is in TOPFORM
ReplyDeleteJason's drumming at EOW is awesome and Simon is bassing like a GOD
ReplyDeleteany german viewers?
ReplyDeleteRobert is performing LOVESONG now as good as last week
ReplyDeleteJust an FYI, for anyone who misses part of the webcast, it appears that Primavera Sound is recording their webcasts, because there's a link to the performances from last night, all nearly nine hours of them.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteI have to say, that new six-string bass from Schecter is a real success. After years of criticism, it looks like these guitars are finally coming into their own.
ReplyDeleteGood info Shawn!
ReplyDeleteBEST FRIDAY AFTERNOON EVER!
ReplyDeleteHear hear!
DeleteNow if only I had a beer here with me at work...
DeleteTechnically, Im working from home... with beer.
DeleteThe sound is really very good again. Hope to see Robert going crazy at Bananafishbones
ReplyDeleteYay, Push!
ReplyDeleteSimon is PUSHING his bassplay into heaven...wow, what a sound
ReplyDeleteYeah, he's the best bass player I know! At least he moves on stage! So cool.
ReplyDeleteCheck out Reeves on the Fender Bass VI too. How cool is it to see that?
ReplyDeleteIt's very cool, I wonder if he is borrowing it from Rob or he bought his own.
DeleteOh hey there's a new sticker on Robert's guitar today
ReplyDeleteso it'll be exactly the same setlist pretty much every night.
ReplyDeleteDuring the Pinkpop broadcast, that guitar only had the 2012: Citizens not Subjects sticker across the top. Now there's a Bunny Lake silhouette below it too.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Simon you are the best bass player in the world....hope you have a great day
ReplyDeleteRobert's voice is amazing.
ReplyDeleteLEFT BEER 1/2 GONE.
ReplyDeleteAlright, does anyone know exactly who Bunny Lake is? Has that ever been discovered?
ReplyDeleteAieee!! So cute!!
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear Simon's bass back in front again, where it belongs. His sound used to get so drowned out in the Guitar Hero era.
ReplyDeleteI know, it's the same setlist, but it's so powerful and perfect...
ReplyDeleteWow, they sound amazing!
ReplyDeleteReeves is having fun!
ReplyDeletei didn't say i minded, i'm just preparing for what i'm going to hear in ireland. so much good wish stuff makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteCOGASM 4 LIFE
ReplyDeleteHope they're going to record new songs soon in this line-up.
ReplyDeleteLEFT BEER 3/4 GONE...
ReplyDeleteBeer? Whiskey :-)
DeleteI know... Im tracking Robert's beer on stage...lol
DeleteAhhh, I've been waiting to hear Reeves on Deep Green Sea.
ReplyDeleteNot flowing on the inbetween parts for me... little too wah wah sounding
DeleteLet's see how Reeves does with Porl's FTEOTDGS solo...
ReplyDeleteReeves play a Fender it looks like? Can't tell watching it on my mobile at work.
ReplyDeleteoooh I have been dying to hear this one!
ReplyDeleteYeahhhhh! The deep green sea. Put your haaaaaands to the skyyyyyyy!
ReplyDeleteReeves is going to kick the hell out of this! :)
ReplyDeleteHe'd better kick the hell out of it. LOL.
ReplyDeleteTrue dat!
DeleteHe did just fine on the solo
ReplyDeleteJason's drumming is close to perfection nowadays.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds amazing - a little hesitant sounding at first, but now, wowsa!!
ReplyDeletePeople going crazy in Spain :-)
ReplyDeleteTold ya!
ReplyDeleteRobert is laughing and enjoys Reeves Guitar play
ReplyDeleteLEFT BEER GONE
ReplyDeleteI just opened up another one.
DeleteMine quite empty also ;-)
DeleteHungry Ghost is all groovy
ReplyDeleteReevs is getting upwarmed
ReplyDeleteHe's kicking the hell out of this one also!
DeleteLove the extra bits!
ReplyDeleteHere is hoping for loud audience keyboards..
ReplyDeletePlay for today....with or without choir
ReplyDeleteThey're not really broadcasting the audience noise. You barely hear them inbetween songs as well.
DeleteI can't hear Robert, audience is singing loud
ReplyDeleteNice ending on PLAY
ReplyDeleteThat mouth gesture at the end!
ReplyDeleteA Forest. So still no changes from Pinkpop until now. Will the next song be Bananafishbones?
ReplyDeleteEveryone twitter @primavera_sound and ask them to keep The Cure on!
ReplyDeleteOMG!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY SIMON!!!
ReplyDeleteCome on Simon....happy birthday by Robert
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SIMON!
ReplyDeleteHa! "Happy Birthday to Simon. Happy Birthday to you."
ReplyDeleteOMG Dying!!!! THAT WAS SOOOO AWESOME!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was a great one for Simon. Happy B-day!
ReplyDeleteSO STRONG...

ReplyDeletewhat was S's sticker on his bass?
ReplyDeleteS is for Simon?
DeleteNooooo! That appears to be the end of the webcast. :\
ReplyDeleteOOOH NO IS RIGHT!!!
ReplyDeleteTHAT WAS NOT 90 minutes... The Waaves are fun... stick around for them.
ReplyDeleteAh well, it's what Hg already predicted. At least we got to see Bananafishbones on the livestream this time.
ReplyDeleteBananafishbones was so excellent, again. I hope they play more tracks from The Top.
ReplyDeletei recommend wavves!

The Walk
ReplyDeletei see a lot of people keep making the mistake of thinking that the FTEOTDGS solo is by Porl, when actually on the Wish album is played by Robert, as said by porl himself on a 1992 musician magazine (can't remember the name now. it was obviously played live by Porl at the time but it never sounded as good as the album version IMO. and now that i heard reeves Gabrels parts better, i have to say that i don't like some stuff he's doing and i didn't like his solo on FTEOTDGS at all. i like the guitars he's using tough.
ReplyDeleteI´m tottally agree
DeleteI think the problem is that FTEOTDGS is one of those songs those songs that doesn't really work live. The lead guitar is always too low in the mix, and the vocals require a specific kind of intensity that's hard to duplicate live. Same goes for Disintegration; I've yet to hear a live rendition that comes close to the brilliance of the album version.
Deletei agree about the waqy those 2 songs are played nowadays, but in the past FTEOTDGS and Disintegration were fucking amazing and they used to make me cry. still, i'm not 17 anymore...
DeleteBoris and Porl!
Delete"still, i'm not 17 anymore" loved it!
DeleteEven if I listen to those songs on Show and Entreat respectively... sorry, but doesn't do it for me. The album version are unmatched.
DeleteFortunately, there are plenty of songs that become miles better when played live. Like the imminent Trust and Wrong Number.
The references we... or at least I made is regarding the "live" solo version after the middle break, which Porl has typical played. The most amazing that Ive seen live was at the Hollywood Bowl a few years back, it was incredible how the sound of his guitar bounced from left to right and then right up the middle. That, or I was incredibly high.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThe lame keyboard sounds at the end of PFT and AForest (from the few I watched tonight) and the murder of Trust a few days ago were enough to sack a band member 30 years ago... Sack mister nice guy Roger! Matthieu, you are forgiven...
ReplyDeleteI really liked the trust solo, so there you go.
Deletebut i didnt like the abrupt play for today ending.
bananfishbones is fucking amazing.
so please dont sack roger!
I agree with you when you say that Roger it's a nice guy.
DeleteDid they just skip Mint Car? Or was someone not paying attention?
ReplyDeleteMint Car after Friday this time.
DeleteOr not... sorry. Wrong info. It seems it was Mint Car, Friday, Doing The Unstuck.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm uploading as fast as I can get it done - got most of the webcast, minus about three songs.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!

ROCK IN ROMA
yeah, i hope Reeves will learn enough songs to make a 3 hours show. that would be seriously cool.
DeleteTime for one more for Wavves. More than 30 minutes before Drums start. More Cure while waiting for The Drums?! (yeah, i'm dreaming, but...)
ReplyDeleteOh man, The Kiss and no live stream. That's cruel.
ReplyDeleteAgree! So so so cruel.
Delete1984/1985 was the best Cure period.
ReplyDeleteNow it's fun to watch them, but hey...they also got old.
I think they've to stop after these festivals or record new songs. But playing old songs over and over and over is imho a commercial act.
I think that the best Cure period it's differente for everyone. And it depends at what time you started to listen to them. For me it was 89-92 'cause I started to listen to The Cure when Disintegration came out and loved all Wish stuff. For someone who started to listen them with Kiss Me I bet that '87 was the best Cure period of all time. (that said... I would love to be there at 84-85)
DeleteBest Cure period was 1979-2000!!!
DeleteLooks to me like they are having a lot of fun. So if it really is a commercial act, they are very good actors.
DeleteI can't believe we're missing these songs, no webcast!! :/
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, Fight!
ReplyDeleteOh my! What an encore! I want the same one in Lisbon on July.
ReplyDeleteI really think this is the last Cure tour for a long, long time.....
ReplyDeleteWith the money they earn this year they are ' free'
Fight? i appreciate A LOT that they're playing these obscure songs, and i'll be really happy to hear them live for real, but it puzzles me as there were much better songs from the Top and KMKMKM that haven't been played live since those tours.
ReplyDeleteRobert, if you will read this: play Just One Kiss and 2 Late!!! at least once!
We've been hearing "The Cure are dead" for thirty years now. I am pretty sure they will keep going - I want to see them hit 50 years now :D
ReplyDeleteDressing Up?!
ReplyDeleteOh hell yes. More Top equals more awesome.
DeleteI hope Gabrels will leave the Band after the Festival Shows! He ruined Bananafishbones!
ReplyDeleteOh yes please Mr. Smith give Reeves the sack. His playing on Plainsong was just dreadful! ;)
Deleteyeah this new arrangement is a killer and a much better version than the album one. shame for the unnecessary wah wah. i love wah wah, but not played in a rockist banal way. Robert is amazing with a wah wah. i want Cut back in, the way he used to play it. just wow.
DeleteOh, here comes the griping. :P
ReplyDeleteok, Lament and the drowning man next gig!
ReplyDelete
