  1. But Craig, where's the clock? :)

  2. Heavy rain is forecast for the afternoon, should have stopped a couple of hours before they hit the stage though. The live stream is great !

  3. It's not necessary to download the Red Bull TV app for phones/tablets, apparently. I hesitated to download yet another app for one time use only, but out of curiosity I went to the link to download and lo and behold there was the live stream...no app needed. The Cure aren't on yet but at least I know I can quickly see the live stream if needed without having to download anything. It's not quite HD quality but it's surprisingly decent. On the Twitter feed I saw a gorgeous display of gold monochromatic fireworks in the distance. There were mentions of the overcast weather so it must've cleared up enough to at least see the fireworks display in near HD quality....Haha.

    1. There are apps for more than phone/tablets. Get it for any Roku/gaming device/Smart TV type device and Catch it on your TV. Quality is much better than the stream on my computer/phone/tablet.

    2. Thanks for the heads up. I'm a dinosaur when it comes to technology. 😀 Still haven't gotten around to using the "smart" functions on the TV even though I've had it for several years now. As for the live stream the quality was actually HD at some points but became fuzzy as my reception started to drift in and out.

  5. Why, oh, why are they showing these people talking when they could show the opening song?

  7. Robert is chatty tonight!!! something about duran duran and singles before Lullaby...
Before Caterpillar: "who says i don't care? I do care!"

    1. He was motioning towards the guitar that looks like it's been inspired by David Bowie when telling us that he does care.
As for Duran Duran, they were at Bestival 2015 but didn't play any singles.

    2. And Duran Duran's final U.S. Paper Gods Tour show is tonight, in Oklahoma, I believe...

  10. This stream made me reflect on how fortunate I was to see the Cure both nights in Chicago this year. Such wonderful performances then and a great show tonight!

  11. Notice that It Can Never Be the Same is not being played recently - wondering whether this is like Boy I Never Knew - a little too hard to keep playing live? Still, a fun festival show.

  12. Wow...the "live" stream makes all the difference in the world. The different angles captured by the camera really turns it into a much more immersive experience. Cell phone videos are great, too, but the close up shots give the impression that you're (almost) on stage with the band even if you're miles and miles (and miles) away. There was a one song delay on the stream but that's a small quibble. THANK YOU to the powers that be for the live stream. In the beginning RS mentioned Duran Duran...I had no idea he was a fan, but it's very possible he was just being sarcastic?? DD is an easy band to diss (or dismiss) due to their enormous popularity but there's no denying they do have some amazing gems (New Moon on Monday?). I remember the last (and only) time I saw both bands at the same event was back in '03 at the KROQ Inland Invasion. DD did play lots of singles that night... lol. I really enjoyed the in- between song commentary. I wish RS would talk more often but I understand that sometimes there's just not much to say. I wonder if the other imaginary boy was in the audience or backstage. If so, it would've been amazing if he had suddenly popped up on stage for an impromptu appearance....haha. Glad the band decided to mix up the setlist a little bit (BDC in the main set threw me off a little as I'm so used to hearing it at the end, almost thought the show was over at that point), also was pleasantly surprised there was a tour debut at a festival.
Maybe it's just my imagination but thought I saw a white-ish hula hoop in the audience? It looks like the kind that lights up but didn't see any lights. Guess the audience was too packed to actually perform any hooping?

  13. Is there going to be an upload of the livestream on youtube?

  14. Nothing from Faith or Pornography ? The band were on top form. I don't think i've ever heard Robert talk so much.
The audience seemed a lot more subdued than the one back in 2011.

    1. Yeah i noticed the audience being pretty dead.

    2. This is not true. They are no Leftfield or Crystal Fighters in terms of the jumping up and down index, but the crowd around me were dancing energetically, What you may have perceived on the feed was a result of the main stage field being a clay quagmire. I was firmly anchored to the ground for a good part of the set, rendering most dancing reminiscent of the Smashing Pumpkins fans in The Simpsons' episode "Homerpalooza".

    3. ^ Agree 100% with this. Just got back from Bestival and have to say it was a lot of fun. Bestival is the daftest, silliest festival in the UK, with Saturday being the fancy dress day - this year's theme being "The Future". So, lots of robots, Ziggy Stardusts, aliens, etc in the crowd. Lots of luminous wristbands, lights, even a guy sending off bubbles through a bubble gun thoughout Doing The Unstuck - nice. The ground was quite muddy, very sticky and I spent most of the set trying not to slip down a little hill! A lot of the people around us were not your "typical" Cure fans (if there is such a thing), young girls in Hunter wellies and glitter on their faces, lads in their 20s, and so on. But everyone was loving it, dancing and singing along and stayed to the end. Unlike, say, Reading 2012, where a lot of the kids bailed out after half an hour after not hearing enough "hits". This was perfect festival set and the ideal starter for our Autumn of Cure dates. Loved it.

    4. Can confirm the mud being the reason we couldn't jump while we danced, I'm guessing the one that did was the unconscious mud covered human I saw being carried into the medic tent after the show.

I was at main stage all day just to make sure I was at the front. I saw some Robert Smith clones and a few gawth folk.

I think I heard the Sound Check the morning of from my tent, but the DJ's have been Cure crazy so I could be wrong. I heard Prayers for Rain (positive cuz I chuckled at the irony of it), Disintegration(?) and A Forest, no singing and bits of the songs, not the whole thing.

  15. So, can you watch it any time you want or just when they air it?

    1. I'm guessing only when they air it. Would love to know if it's going to go on youtube later.

  16. I watched the feed with ear buds, and it was one of the best live shows I've seen in terms of sound. You even heard Robert breathe into the mic before playing Open. Fucking incredibly good sound.

  22. Great sound and lighting but I really hope they do a lot more interesting sets on the European Tour, I can understand them playing more singles at a festival especially one like Bestival, but Ride did at least play two new songs..sorry I have my moaning head on today....
