  1. Craig - I'll be there - reception shouldn't be a problem but we have the Toni backup method if needed.

    1. Thanks, Craig! Someone told me Rod Laver Arena will be just as bad as Sydney, but hoping that's not true. Have Toni standing by. :)

    2. Rod Laver Arena is a little smaller than the Sydney venue so I'm hoping for less congestion. It's also located in the city instead of the suburbs where the Sydney venue was. Now get to bed - you've got to be up early this morning.

  2. It would be really cool if they played a couple of surprise 413/the cure new songs....before 3/the reasons why?....anniversary/it's over....although they've been mixing up 80 or so songs...none of these sets are shocking or surprising anymore....the biggest ooh comes from how they mix songs up within the night and in their order in which played...c'mon guys stun us!!!!!

  3. The last 4 shows have been Disintegration based - surely tonight it will switch to a Wish/Bloodflowers or Top opening/closing. Agree that It's Over would be great to hear again. Reeves could rip into that.

    1. I get the feeling that the setlists for the entire Australia/NZ segment of the tour will include the Disintegration bookends...not that there's anything wrong with that, but it might be a slight disappointment for Australia/NZ fans hoping to hear more from Top/Wish/Bloodflowers, etc. It seems the band has settled comfortably into the Disintegration bookends pattern, with of course some slight variations within the existing "template", if you will. I could be wrong, though it would be unusual if all of a sudden they veered away from the established path during the last two (relatively) smaller shows.

  4. Hi there, just arrived in Melbourne hotel. Will do my best with tweets again. It was totally congested on Mon in Syd. Tweet by text? Will read that now. Do you want the soundcheck news? I'll do my best but probably not until after that's over/before show starts. CR

    1. Sorry, Lara. Posted the start time the venue listed, but as you know, it started at 8.

Happy that I didn't have to bother you tonight, but thanks so much for the offer!

    1. I love that encore! Right up there with the Porno, Faith era, and Seventeen Seconds encore sets.

    2. Yes Craig! First encores were the best part of the last shows!

  8. Mmmm...it's becoming a bit predictable...where are 2 late, exploding boy? 2nd, 3rd and 4th encore are always the same...it would be nice refresh the last part of the shows...anyway, always happy when they're on tour!

  10. My strategy this week has been leaving at the start of the fourth encore to beat everyone to a cab. Good to know it's working out. I can't wait for tomorrow night - that was the loudest I'd heard them, poor Robert was very croaky and forgetful tonight. I had the absolute worst crowd around me (I had bad seats up the back) - who pays $140 AUD to talk through the whole set?!

    1. Yeah, they we're awful. Luckily, there was a space between the seats that I decamped to a couple of times to dance.

    2. That drives me in sane - I had a group of three that did that in front of me at Sydney - they came in and out getting drinks and talked the whole way though???

    3. I just started telling people to shut up, and oftentimes, they did!

  11. Hey! Check out Spotify!!!! A new liverecording, the cure live at Reading 2012 is available, right now!!!? 26 songs!!!! WTF?

  12. Horrible coverart. Very bootleg-ish! Nice Sound though.

  13. What is this? No mention anywhere? Even not on the cure HomePage????

  14. It's been out on ITunes for months ..

  17. My fantasy next album was a double live one featuring all the rare and the new songs from this tour. Don't jump on me, just leave me in my happy dreams...

    ReplyDelete
  18. At this point big, everything is just a load of dreams!!!

  19. The next album will probably be mostly instrumental

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sadly that Reading album is probably just a bootleg ripped from the TV broadcast. The tracklisting misses out most as the encore just as the original tv broadcast did.

    1. How did this even get put on iTunes!? Haha. The sound isn't too bad.

  21. Craig - surely even you must admit that at this stage all the anticipation of them playing other rare or darker songs is gone? The setlist are now very similar especially the encores. What I find most disappointing is how they have the 2 setlist variations where a couple of songs are alternated. Why can't they create the 'best' setlist by combining songs instead of alternating! Quite a few songs are really played to death over the past tours yet the current last 2 encores are very boring in my view. Some of the fave dark songs have only been played a few times so far on the tour and then dropped. So its kinda back to usual per the last few tours sadly

  22. you have a point, but since the venues they play are large i reckon well over half the crowd are casual fans, who prefer the 'hits' - also if they play the more obscure stuff it encourages more yapping from those that don't know the songs. tough balancing act which they do pretty well

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes, but a "proper tour" it's not a festival...they can play what they want (as during the Dream Tour, for example). The US shows were well balanced with the insertion of jems like Exploding Boy, 2 Late, Porno, etc...last gigs are a bit disappointing from the setlist point of view...to predictable. Idem the final encores. Anyway, let's enjoy the tour.

  24. i agree, it's become a bit 'safe' but was trying to put it from another view. if i had my way i'd have album tracks only.

  25. My favourite moment in the main set was Bananafishbones. A lot of other people used that song for their bathroom break. They are at their best when they take risks. The first encore was mind blowing. Want was also a highlight.

    1. I might also add that this is the fifth tour I have seen them on. Back in '92 the last encore was The Figurehead, A Strange Day, A Forest. That change me as a person seeing that.

  26. It was a great show. I agree Bananafishbones was brilliant, as were so so many others. I was amazed how little people move, maybe is just me but a song like Bananafishbones I cannot stay still. To me the evening felt like a divine occurrence combined with a party filled with love and celebration :) ...truly beautiful, heart opening, and heart shining experience. Now onwards and upwards people, let's let this night set the tone for the coming age (am I serious? perhaps) ...lets get out there and share the shimmering warm love
