  4. Place your bets; Pillbox Tales tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Mmm.. Something tells me these shows (Sydney, London, Los Angeles and New York) were just the tip of the ice berg.. 2012, if the world doesn't end first (:p) looks to be a big year for our favorite band from Blighty!!
Craig, go all out tonight - dance/sing like no one is watching and don't give a fffffffffffffffurther thought, to people like us! JUST GET HAPPY!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I don't feel we should place our bets on anything.. if the last few nights have been anything to go by absolutely anything is possible!Robert could have any number of things up his sleeve!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yesterday was my first time at a Cure show, I had such a blast I had to see them again tonight. Can't believe not being able to see them again for unknown time period after tonight. Hell, It's gonna be so fun tonight. So psyched.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Seems to be a mellow sunday night crowd. Lots of well heeled uper east siders who have "connections"

    ReplyDelete
  9. am so depressed tonight :( just got home a little over 2 hours ago and knowing they are performing again tonight...rips my heart out I cant be there again tonight...enjoy the night....it is one you will never forget

    ReplyDelete
  10. Wooohoo!! Here we go!! Can't wait for the tweets and updates.

    ReplyDelete
  11. howdy peeps! first time i've said anything in CoF for about three years, but i figured perhaps tonight should be the night to start again?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hi!! **offers Notherbob a cider**

    Hey Eric!! Welcome back!

    ReplyDelete
  13. 3IB Started!! drip, drip, drip, drip

    ReplyDelete
  14. *Respectfully refuses cider*

Not feeling great today, me and one of my little monsters are rugged up on the sofa.. :(

A little peeved as I had college assessments due today too but of course secretly glad as I get to 'be' at the last NY show..

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hi! *waving furiously* So excited for what's in store tonight. So happy for everyone there! Welcome back Eric! Guess that mean you made it home safely : )

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi everyone! I'm sad to see the reflections end. But hopefully the guys do really have more in store for us next year. It's been fun keeping tabs on all the events and meetings. I wish I was in a better financial state to have been able to hit one of the shows this round but I have hopes to hit another one whenever they come to the midwest. Cheers everyone, here's to the last night!

    ReplyDelete
  17. @NB - sorry you and your little one are not feeling well **puts the cider away** - another time perhaps.

    @thistle - BIG HUGS!!

@Michelle - so good to see you online, hope you get to go to a show again sometime soon!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hugging motion before subway song as in he likes the song

    ReplyDelete
  19. and i guess since you're posting here, you decided to be "adult" and not stay another night in nyc thistle?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Giorgio, thanks so much for the live updates - they are so appreciated!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Eric - I decided it was so perfect, to just let it be at that. Never thought I'd be content with only one show, but that's how much I enjoyed it!

    ReplyDelete
  22. No recent tweets from Craig and I'm glad, he should make the most of this.

    ReplyDelete
  23. If anyone wants to follow another twitterer - this guy is doing lots of updates too https://twitter.com/#!/ebbhead

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi all....just couldn't stay away. Think we are all going to be in shock before this night is over and I am thrilled for all that are actually there.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @fishbugman - I can never stay away from CoF when the Cure are onstage!! (Unless I'm actually at the show, of course)

    ReplyDelete
  26. The dog is shooting me dirty looks for being on the computer instead of giving her belly rubs, especially after not having seen me since Friday morning. But how can I not?!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Looks like Craig is really getting into the show tonight & having a great time with the lack of tweets from him! Go Craig!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Robert very talkitive after tib and jokes about weedy burton

    ReplyDelete
  29. And the end of 3IB - it goes so fast!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wow! is it me or is it all going way too fast?? (Re: Craig's tweets)

    1st set over already!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. @nb it goes even faster in person, remember??

    ReplyDelete
  32. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFr6DujxRJ8 for those of you who want to see a crappy vid of an awesome song i saw about exactly 24 hours ago

    ReplyDelete
  33. Mmm.. second night did for me but 1st night felt about right..

    ReplyDelete
  34. thistle, my bobby tried to be really mad at me for leaving him for four days, but his full body purring kinda gave him away....

    ReplyDelete
  35. Wow, set 1 over in a blink. Funny Robert commentary!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Loved the cracks about Weedy Burton at our shows too!! He didn't even play it on Night 1 in Sydney! Then on Night 2 he played it after a big disclaimer about how "a lot of people reminded us that we left one out last night".

    ReplyDelete
  37. I really hope this stirs something up in Robert to be productive next year I really do..

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes, I think this coming year The Cure will leave all fans speechless!

    ReplyDelete
  39. personally, i want to see the footage of The Cure's induction ceremony to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. I'd love to see Robert jam with Bruce Springsteen or Mick Jaggar or something : )

    ReplyDelete
  40. I also hope 2012 will be a full year of Cure goodness! New CD, more shows, more Cure, more Robert............!

    ReplyDelete
  41. @ericj

Oh yeah I want to see that too! Hope they get in.

    ReplyDelete
  42. He balked on Cult Hero on video....kind of doubtful.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Time sure does fly when The Cure is playing.

    ReplyDelete
  49. What a night....glad for all who could make it!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I hope the people at the show tonight get some nice extra bits - maybe all the way to 50 songs!! Go Robert!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Spooky atmosphere in the theater during at night. Wonder what seeing them in 81 was like

    ReplyDelete
  52. We might have a curfew issue tonight, methinks.. they might end up pulling the plug as Robery will want to play all night!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Giorgio, I've often said if I had a time machine that the only time and place I would want to visit would have been any Cure show in the very very early 80's. This is as close as we can get without actually travelling back in time I guess!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Coachella 2009.....pull the plug and the heart keeps beating....

    ReplyDelete
  55. @fishbugman - we were there too!! Just kept singing!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I wonder if the Beacon really would pull the plug on The Cure? I can't imagine - but it IS a Sunday night.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Would have been SO epic to witness that!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Awwwww.... from Craig - Very emotional set. No talking from RS at all. 17 secs was so sad. And Roger and Simon hugged as they left stage.

    ReplyDelete
  59. From Craig - Before the as set, RS talked about being 16 when he wrote much of it, but SS was the album he really wanted to make.

Imagine writing something as epic and timeless as Seventeen Seconds at 16!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Without Craig passing on the influx of texts from various people, I feel like we're flying blind, LOL. But that's OK - it's even better knowing that he's having fun! Needs to be looking at the band, not the phone : )

    ReplyDelete
  61. it was meant to be...some things...perfect....timeless...just happen...that is why we love them.....

    ReplyDelete
  62. Faith set. *faint* I spent most of it last night looking like Forrest Gump - head tilted, mouth slightly agape. Mesmerized

    ReplyDelete
  63. @thistle - that's nearly the only way to experience Faith properly - just add in tears streaming down your face to some songs...

    ReplyDelete
  64. A child prodigy. Look out Mozart!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Wish I could be there with everybody tonight! Last night was truly a Dream... Such a brilliant performance and fulfilled a long Wish of mine (to see 17 seconds performed in its entirety). We are blessed to have The Cure as a part of our lives and blessed to have such a wonderful and sincere fan base. It was great to see everybody at the Colombus Tavern. Enjoy. "I want to keep this feeling deep inside of me. I want you always in my heart. You are everything..."

    ReplyDelete
  66. Drowning Man was such a highlight for me to see live for the Faith set.. Faith was okay too.. I guess :p

    ReplyDelete
  67. @Rev - yup, did that. Just could not believe I was seeing those musicians, that stage, that album. Overwhelming. Faith (song) was the emotional orgasm the night built up to. Maybe the whiplash into DTH was why I was laughing so hard the whole time XD

    ReplyDelete
  68. Funeral Party was never a favorite of mine, but it blew me away. Never expected that. Cat thought the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  69. That combo Drowning Man and Faith is a crusher. If they cannot stir up your emotions, maybe Wham! is playing down the street.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Going back to an earlier post.. Robert, many moons ago in an interview said he likened himself more as a composer like Prokofiev than a modern day rock star..

    ReplyDelete
  71. @fishbugman - You hit the nail right on the head! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  72. my jovial (and at this point very drunk) neighbor noob buddies were by this time sitting down and saying "wow" to each other after every song, and how each song was "so beautiful" and that they were going to have to buy the albums (well, yeah!) they had each bought the other a round of beers after SS, so they both had extras to enjoy....

    ReplyDelete
  73. i was actually quite jealous. imagine being nice and lit up (but not puking lit up), knowing The Cure were awesome (via greatest hits and such) but hearing the albums in their entirety for the very first time at the Beacon Theatre! those guys know how to live.....

    ReplyDelete
  74. From Craig:

RS so emotional and into this

    ReplyDelete
  75. E.J. The jovial ones are probably flirting with "Love at first sight."
That came out all wrong...two beers are better than one.

    ReplyDelete
  76. @Eric - Glad your newbs were cool (albeit a bit too chatty). LA - you didn't get all the a-holes. NY Douche wearing a blazer with girl in shiny aqua-colored club-girl dress show up halfway thru TIB (leaving kick ass seats empty til then). He asked if there had been an opening act. He seemed taken aback by my hands to my face, mouth agape, scowling "do you even know what you're at?!" *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  77. @thistle - *shakes head* horrible! Our row-mates on night 2 didn't show up until halfway through FAITH - and then spent the rest of the show chatting between themselves and texting without looking up from their phone.

    ReplyDelete
  78. WTF?? That would have mad emy blood boil!

    ReplyDelete
  79. @Rev - that's absurd! How would they like it if we did that at their Justin Timberlake concert? Bitches need to learn some manners ;)

    ReplyDelete
  80. AND one of them was so rude to Sarabee that she was in tears! WTF indeed!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oh, how rude. First night in LA I had 2 16-17 year old girls that wanted to pay $100+ for tickets to talk about their animals (of course, animals is a euphemism). I tried every hand signal....sssshhhhh, zip it, off with its head, cut.....just before they screwed up my TIB I had to tell them to "shut the F..K UP." Think I scared them away to a coffee shop, never heard a peep the rest of the night.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Well there's a few seats that could have gone to more deserving fans..

    ReplyDelete
  83. @fishbugman - that stinks! Glad they left you alone the rest of the night.

    ReplyDelete
  84. What goes around comes around. They were quiet for me the rest of the night and I will be absolutely silent for them at their next JT concert.

    ReplyDelete
  85. They'd have to be into the encores now, wouldn't they??

    ReplyDelete
  86. Not yet, @nb - another few minutes of Faith left I think

    ReplyDelete
  87. Rev....I am mightly slow. I just figured out who you are aka as. Geez, I feel real bad we never chatted for more than a few words, especially since there were plenty of chances. Without a doubt, next time!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Extra 6 string bass and lyrics to faith "to say goodbye"

    ReplyDelete
  89. I hope they get Faith / Forever tonight!! Maybe a good 10-12 minute version

    ReplyDelete
  90. I almost had to tell the jokers in front of me to "Shut the f--k up" the third night. They came late, threw cigs at the stage, kept on yelling "F--k you, Bobby!" and the like. They kept on leaving for drinks and smoke breaks... Oddly enough, they really seemed to be enjoying their time there, WHEN they were there. They walked out on Faith. FAITH! Their behavior was really disruptive for me, though.

    ReplyDelete
  91. From Craig - How many years for us to say goodbye extra faith lyrics

    ReplyDelete
  92. Faith over now - Craig says That was incredible...chills...tears

    ReplyDelete
  93. Think we can smuggle tasers into these shows? Seems they'd come in awfully handy. Especially to the bitch that made Sarables cry :( I hope she gets warts from the douche she probably picked up at a trendy club on the way home.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Wow at this! Will not do hansa or pillbox tonighr. Lol wont sing it.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Here's where the real fun starts!!

    ReplyDelete
  96. We had lots of weird drunk people around us that night. A girl in our row kept on having to leave... She was about to puke at one point. I don't know why her friends kept on letting her come back. The last time, I wouldn't let them walk in front of me again. They had to walk behind me. I had had ENOUGH.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Is it weird to say "Yay!" to "chills and tears"?

    ReplyDelete
  98. @thistle - I think it's fine to say!

    ReplyDelete
  99. @ghanisbuli - wow, you got stuck with some serious idiots. It's horrible to have such awful distractions when you just want to escape into the music. And yet, it's the tapers that get hassled.

    ReplyDelete
  100. From @ebbhead - "We wanted to try Pillbox Tales but only Lol can sing it and he refuses to." #TheCure "Don't worry, you'll hear at least one difference"

    ReplyDelete
  101. Definitely fine in this context :).

    ReplyDelete
  102. He's probably tired of being put in the corner. Bummer - that would've been so cool!

    ReplyDelete
  103. it felt kind of like culture shock to go back to the 3IB era after having just heard faith. but they were both so damn good it was hard to decide which i liked better. i think in the end SS was my favorite set (but Faith my favorite song) of last night, but i definitely liked the 3IB era extras better than the other eras b-sides. of course everything was awesome though. and "hanging garden" a fantastic bonus song....

    ReplyDelete
  104. I really am curious how Lol feels about the relative lack of fan fare or introduction. Yeah, I know we all already know, but just a little introduction and the following applause can really boost a person. I know there is a reason, I just do not know what it is.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I am really hooked on World War right now....

    ReplyDelete
  106. @fishbugman - I don't know that they have ever done introductions of the band members. It's just not their style. Even in Sydney, when it was Lol's first time onstage in 20-something years there was nothing official. But there was a HUGE response from the audience when they saw him.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I guess it's just never been The Cure's "thing" to introduce anyone. Have they ever done such? Not at the concerts I've been to/watched on video, but what about the early days?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Ditto with Roger at the intro to Seventeen Seconds

    ReplyDelete
  109. They've never been a band like that "And here's Mr blahblah on keyboards"..
You said so yourself, the fans know who they are and smirks from the likes of Roger when he walks out and the crowd goes off their trolley.. they feel the love..

    ReplyDelete
  110. yeah, one of my friends was complaining about that after the show as well. it really was a Robert and Simon Show setup, and the other guys were most definitely relegated to the background (although Rogers keys were nicely placed for the SS set, and it looked like a four piece band for that one set)

    ReplyDelete
  111. @Eric - I have no idea who posted this where or when, but I've never forgotten it (not verbatim): (in the context of "we've got an app for that") The Cure: Pick an emotion - we've got a song for that
They've sure been giving us proof of that in these shows, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  112. but Lol looked to be having a damned good time anyways! also, Robert arrived at the venue with Lol and Roger, so they have definitely been hanging out together at least a bit....

    ReplyDelete
  113. @Eric- no, it's really not like that at all..

    ReplyDelete
  114. As of now the best of 3 nights in nyc

    ReplyDelete
  115. @nb - "off their trolley" made me LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  116. @Giorgio - as it should be.

    ReplyDelete
  117. With all the @ in here, we should just be in Meebo!

    ReplyDelete
  118. First encore down! Lucky lucky fans in NYC!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Encore #1 setlist: World War, I'm Cold, Plastic Passion, Killing an Arab, Jumping Someone Else's Train. someone's tweet, if you didn't already know what standard encore is

    ReplyDelete
  120. Kate - where you hiding? Come out and play!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Craig - Haha...lots of weed for Descent. Now Splintered

    LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  122. The stoners are probably less distracting than the assholes. Definitely more fun LOL

    ReplyDelete
  123. Lots of confused people have left. Making room for fans. Come to the front!

    ReplyDelete
  124. It's almost over - I think I might cry...

    ReplyDelete
  125. the hanging garden is such a brilliant song, and it is so great to hear it in this context, even if it doesn't really 'fit' the reflections criteria. i wonder if Robert wrote it before he wrote the other songs in pornography?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Can't believe it's almost over too! It's been fun following along again and now it going to end.:(

    ReplyDelete
  127. I actually had a kronic stick with me all three days and just never needed it. I mean really, why would someone want to diminish a 100% assault on their senses

    ReplyDelete
  128. After hanging garden: "we should do that album on monday"

    ReplyDelete
  129. follow me to where the real fun is! what's next?!

    ReplyDelete
  130. i'm worried for the peeps at the show, cuz there are only 13 minutes left till curfew. hope they get something special right quick!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Before lgtb "when simon left the band we went pop to rub his nose in it"

    ReplyDelete
  132. Hah! I hope Simon laughed on stage. He's always so stoic!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Let's get these "pop" songs over with and finish with something good

    ReplyDelete
  134. From Craig during LGTB - Wait until....Wednesday

    ReplyDelete
  135. The walk. Should I go get another jack daniels?

    ReplyDelete
  136. Secret shows Monday AND Wednesday? No, we don't read too much into everything that comes out of Robert's mouth ; )

    ReplyDelete
  137. Wednesday, huh? How very interesting... Even if I choose to read into that, I can't afford to hop a flight to NY by Wednesday. So, I hope it's just Robert being silly and joyous!

    ReplyDelete
  138. @fishbugman - I've never felt the desire to do anything during a Cure show - I want to remember EVERYTHING!!!

    ReplyDelete
  139. robert sang "wednesday" last night as well...

    ReplyDelete
  140. I'm so nervous for how the show will end! I can't believe it's already time... It's been quite the wild ride this past couple weeks!

    ReplyDelete
  141. They better be getting an amazing ending! and SOON

    ReplyDelete
  142. I'm really hoping to see that one live someday. I'm glad they've started playing it again :).

    ReplyDelete
  143. I hope they do Inbetween Days next!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Tonight, instead of being jealous, I've decided to think about how they really seem to be enjoying these shows--so much so that they just couldn't stick to the "game plan" anymore and started playing all these extra songs! It's not that they didn't love us just as much in London and LA, but that now it's hard to stop themselves from playing the whole catalog!

    ReplyDelete
  145. OMG I called it!! YAY for the NYC peeps!

    ReplyDelete
  146. Can you even imagine how much fun Robert's having with this song? Probably some cute dancing too!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Yes, Rev.....I do agree. The only reason I had one was a very long depressing story. Luckily, I didn't ride that train at all. Trying very hard to turn a corner...a 10+ year corner. Think I am almost there.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Can.Not.Wait. for the videos from tonight to surface!!!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Boys don't cry. Crowd singing every word

    ReplyDelete
  150. Ahhh, cute dancing... *swoon*
Just picturing it makes me turn all gooey inside.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Another stage invader would be the icing on the cake :)

    ReplyDelete
  152. Boys Don't Cry means Craig got 50!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  153. Wait, did they not play Boys Don't Cry during the 1st encore?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Don't think they played Another Journey by Train either in first encore.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Aiee!! I don't know - maybe they skipped it in the first encore??

    ReplyDelete
  156. Interesting! I thought Encore 1 had been the standard set. Closing with Boys Don't Cry would be cool, though!

    ReplyDelete
  157. It's official, NY is the best city for Cure setlists. (I'm thinking back to when we were the only show to get Forever on the 4Tour in '08 at Radio City Music Hall)

    ReplyDelete
