    1. Band soundcheck is usually around 4 - 4:30, though it sometimes runs late. Occasionally starts earlier, but that's a rare occurrence.

  5. The Cure in bloody Boise, in a room just large enough to fit a moderately-sized city council, and they're skipping (I wanted to say fucking but I'm going to err on the side of discretion) Seattle once again? I just don't get it (in more ways than one...).

    1. Please let it go. We are all sick of hearing about it. It's over. Move on with your life. Damn!

    2. They skipped a lot more cities than they actually played if you think about it.

    3. Craig E... they left the Northwest. "It's Over". In all likelihood they won't be back for years, if ever.

I get your frustation, believe me; they skipped Phoenix, AZ on this tour which the 12th largest ranked metro area in the country (Seattle is 15th)...

The nearest show for us was Vegas, still a 5 hour drive. In fact, The Cure have only played in Phoenix two (2) times in the past 20 years.

They played three (3) shows in the Pacific Northwest (Ridgefield, Gorge, and Vancouver). All shows a lot closer drive than 5 hours from Seattle.

Why would they play El Paso (6000 capacity) and Vegas (3000) and skip Phoenix where they could have sold out a 12,000 seat arena?

I don't know. I don't know why they skipped Seattle proper. I don't know why they played El Paso again when they were just there in 2013.

I don't know why they are only playing 3 cities in the Northeast (Boston, NY, Columbia...)...

Many other big cities are getting skipped on this tour: Cleveland, Philadelphia, Detroit, St. Louis, Tampa, Nashville...

It sucks for those of us that cannot travel this time around. But, look New Orleans didn't get a show for 13 years. Craig had to travel for the 2004, 2008, and 2011 tours...

The Cure can't play everywhere, do some of the dates make sense? No. But, while I cannot attend any shows, I am HAPPY for the people that CAN.

I had my day, I've seen them many many times since 1987, and saw Reflections.

Change your attitude and be HAPPY for the people who are FINALLY getting a chance to see this band for the first time in Boise tonight.

I have a good excuse why I can't travel (baby, toddler, ...life, lol).

What's yours? Money? You could've save enough to get to the Ridgefield show. 3 hour drive from Seattle, you would have been to bed by 3am lol...

This is my long winded way of saying get over it. You're not alone, but you are choosing a very negative path.

    4. They used to show up every tour, but haven't in 20 years. I like 'em, want to see 'em, don't get around like I used to and they were SO close... Still, you're both right. You may consider me chastised.

Can't wait to watch the set unfold as I have been doing, tiny indoor venue, small but densely packed crowd, never played there before, I think they're going to play some pretty incredible stuff tonight. I'm hoping for 2Late.

    5. Also Dr. Fishbones, I couldn't have summed it up better than you did. I can't travel far either. Didn't want to miss what I really felt would be my last opportunity, but I did and there's nothing to be done about it. Listening to the incredible sounding Shoreline show on CD, cranked, with nice speakers. Could almost be there...

Thanks everyone for being pretty cool about the whole thing.

    6. Stop complaining! They came to Brazil in 2013 for just two shows, in two cities. I travelled to São Paulo from Porto Alegre to see them live.
More than 30 shows in US. Don`t you think it`s enough?

    7. Robert did say 'we'll see you again' or something after the Vancouver show if that helps.... :)

    8. Some of you are just hellaWEIRD!!! PHOENIX ISN'T SPECIAL!!!! I went to Curiosa and the 4:13 Dream tour and those shows..at least crowd wise were just ok...maybe the band went away with that.....maybe Robert keeps a journal or something and remembers how some of these shows made him feel...maybe phoenix wasn't worth another visit to him or even seattle...who knows maybe there are costs we just don't know about....El paso as a city suxxxx...I live here but the shows the last 2 tours were tremendous exceptions relative to other cities and set lists etc...plus el paso pulls in half the audience which comes from Mexico and we already KNOW HOW THE CURE LOVE MEXICO EVEN IF I DON'T LOL!!! I strongly believe this tour is another test one for himself
..you know he's always talked about his time in the group and whether it's enjoyable and if the touring is fun and the shows are good
..he'll be happy and continue on...I really think he needed to prove it to himself and it's a tezt...the shows are FUCKING incredible and I believe there's an album coming and there may be another north American leg to this tour in 2017 or maybe a return in 2018...but seriously some of you just get over it calm the FUCK down and listen to faith...and if this hasn't taught out by now....open a full king savings account and put $25 in it every month and you'll see how many shows you can go to the next time around...but stop crying....seriously all the whining you swear it was a damned Morrissey site....jeez...luv COF tho😋

    9. This is begging to be said, although I am not so inclined:

If Trump wins, there will be a lot more seats available for those El Paso Cure gigs...

      Delete
    10. If the Donald wins there will be fewer seats available for Canadian gigs as Americans flock up north to seek Canadian citizenship. This is obviously way too premature, but depending on how many people flee (both voluntarily and involuntarily),that could free up a lot of seats- and other resources- for those of us choosing to stay. A few posts ago Craig indicated in the comments that this current tour is not intended to support new material. Assuming the band will follow their four year album release schedule (2012 being the exception) doesn't that mean a 2016 album could be forthcoming? If so will there be another tour to properly support the new album (I hope so)? Does that explain why this current tour doesn't have a name?

  10. Very true, 2000 had even shorter shows, but they never showed for 'Disintegration' or 'Bloodflowers' (or 'Pornography' for that matter). The Everett show was awesome, another of the real top-of-the-line audience recordings. seattlevulture, you know what kind of acts come through here, McCartney, Billy Joel, pop groups...Buzzcocks were here a few days ago and Peter Hook in November but other than that...

    2. I completely recommend theXploding Boys! Their new guitarist isn't as impressive as their last one, but they put on a good show and pick good songs.

    5. I've seen the band over 25 times and never seen them play it, seem to play it more in the US, and not quite so much in Europe. The last few years anyway.

      Delete
    6. Saw them play it in 2000 (San Diego) and Phoenix (2004). Not one of my favs, but still a solid track.

      Delete
    7. Anyone took any video of Sinking?! And I feel it's a rarity because they hardly play it live and it's a killer song. I would just hope they play it here in Miami..holy crap!

  14. As far as playing 12,000 seat venues, it seems The Cure is not worried about making as much money as possible, but rather taking their music and experience to areas where they will be enjoyed and can be shared. Robert really seemed to be enjoying himself in Boise, more so than when I saw them a couple of years ago at large music festival. I do know that the Boise show was an afterthought and just happened to work out. As the local promoter said, "the stars just aligned". Robert said himself that there were not many places where they haven't played, but Boise was one of them. He seemed to be delighted by the idea that he was playing there, but maybe I'm just reading too much into it. Also, he said at the very end, "see you again"....To the nice German fellow, Philip, I met last night, have a great trip and be safe. Enjoy our wonderful country and the rest of The Cure concerts. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Toro Llamas.

    1. You are correct, The Cure can pick and choose any city they want at this point.

Maybe Phoenix will get it's turn at another point, who knows. In normal years, it would not have mattered to me - I have the money to literally go to every show if I want too...

Problem is I can't travel right now due to family commitments.

Just the wrong year for a Cure tour for me, last year - no problem, lol... next year, I can travel.

Just a roll of the dice that they toured this year for me. But in the end, I've seen them many times. I've seen almost 135 Cure songs done live...

If I had attended every show so far there are only 9 songs I haven't seen yet...

      Delete
    2. Some of the venues they're playing here in the States are pretty small, much nicer than to 100,000 in a field somewhere in Germany. I'm betting they really are enjoying the 'close quarters' if that makes sense. Never saw the inside of the Maverik Center until the picture today. I'd love to see them there!

  15. Songs being played live I haven't seen:

    This Twilight Garden
    2Late
    Exploding Boy
    Burn
    Screw
    Step Into the Light
It Can Never be the Same
    Us or Them

Well, I guess I counted wrong... 8 total songs I have not seen before.
