Sorry if this is a repeat, but here's the response I received from SOH when I asked about transferring the name to someone you are selling to:
Yes it is possible to arrange for someone else to collect the tickets. Simply let us know the name of the person and as long as they have their own photo identification they can come to the Box Office counter 45 -30 minutes before the performance and collect the tickets.
Desperately looking for 4 tickets - or 2 lots of 2, though at this stage will take just 2? I had my family split into 1 at the opera house, 1 at the box office, 1 online and 1 on the phone with no luck! Thanks.
desperate for 2x June1st tickets for myself and my son who was shouting me as a mothers day present...have tried endlessly from presale yesterday and all day today...just don't seem to be having any luck...if someone has 2 please let me know and i will pay immediately! thanks Dani desertmoondancers@aapt.net.au
Hi everyone, So I really need at least one but preferably two tickets. Please, if you can help email nicolemarshall200@hotmail.com I can't believe I am going to miss out.
This is what I got from SOH with regards someone other than the purchaser picking up the tickets from the opera house.
"In order to make this change we will require a scanned copy of the front and back of the credit card used in the purchase, as well a signed statement authorising the collection of the tickets by your son, Tony. If possible, could you please fax this back to (+61) 02 9251 3940 or scan it and send to boxoffice@sydneyoperahouse.com."
and now for the next bit, anyone recommending any decent hotels within staggering distance of the opera house and not costing the price of a scalped ticket? not asking for much really...maybe Ill just stay up all night and save up on that cost...
I'm looking for 2 more tickets for either night...it's for a friend of mine, who'd love to come but missed the pre-sale as well as the gen. sale... any tips? no luck so far with ticketmaster.
dang. what jobs do you all have to be flying around the world and paying that much for a ticket. yikes. is a dream of mine to go but this is utterly impossible. i'm excited for you that get to go! have a blast! i'll be savin up for the dvd :)
there's a few tickets left on ebay: http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=2&_nkw=the%20cure%20sydney&_dmpt=Music_Other_Formats&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283
I agree with RTA, for as many times as i've seen and met The Cure, it's impossible to come up with 1500 bucks to go on the fly..But I can't wait to see them in America and maybe Hawaii. To all that go, please, please, mosh some during the first set, it is a punk album. Cure fans will mosh if you push a little, and nicely :)
RH Factor: "To all that go, please, please, mosh some during the first set, it is a punk album."
I was thinking about this the other day, the venue is seating only, so don't see how this would be possible? Still wondering if people will sit or stand? Can't imagine sitting for the whole show. Hoping everyone (at least in the Stalls area) will stand. Could imagine people in the platform boxes sitting (because it is elevated, leaning over the stage). Anyone have any thoughts on this?
if nothing else it would be pretty uncomfortable standing up - the seating in the stalls is fairly tight, enough to pretty much prohibit dancing i would think
personally i would recommend that folks sit down, give security an easy night, enjoy the fact that everyone in the venue is gonna have amazing sightlines, bathe in the (hopefully) pristine sound and allow yourself to get completely lost in the music in a way that might not be possible in most of the venues the cure play
i'm no great fan of sitting down at rock concerts but i am inclined to treat this one a little differently
SOH have indicated to me that the majority rules... if only a handful of people stand, then they will be asked to sit - but if the majority stands... then on our feet we will be (woohoo). I can't imagine that the band will want us sitting and politely clapping between songs.... especially for the video.
Man, there's one thing i can't stand and that's a boring audience. The audience makes the band. The Cure played JSET at Coachella because we were nuts and dancing and moshing even though the sound was cut. This is on DVD, they need a few people to rush the stage, jump around. Remember the tall bald guy moshing back and forth in The Cure in Orange? Trust me, they need it. I saw a bunch of old farts sitting around during a Heart concert on TV. It can't be like that with The Cure. They are youth. You have to shout and commit chaos as a fan. If i'm wrong, I don't know the Cure. Robert seemed pretty happy to see all of us drunks being kooky in the front row. Mosh!!!....but not during Faith :).
I'm not sure that 'moshing' will be possible in a fully seated venue, but I definitely agree that we should be on our feet and giving back to the boys as much as they are giving us!
Look its going to be almost impossible to just sit there and listen but at the same time I think the moshing part will be out with the seats. It would be great if we could but I really cant see it happening and even if we all can stand we will be limited in how much movement we will have.
Im sure that sound wise this is probably one of the best venues in the world but not sure if it will work for a DVD from a crowd perspective but I could be wrong.
Why is the show at a place where you have to sit down the whole time? How can you contain yourself during any of the songs? I know it is a famous place and stunning , but not the best place by far.
wow - i'm deeply grateful they're playing at such an amazing venue - apart from it being visually stunning and aurally excellent, you should see the place they've played their last 7 sydney dates - a massive concrete barn with ZERO atmosphere and terrible acoustics - the fact that they're playing at the concert hall of the opera house is a MIRACLE!
off topic but..... kinda sickening that rebecca black comes up in the 'suggestions' videos on the side when looking through cure videos on youtube...... :( :((
Hi everyone. I have a spare ticket to the Wed Reflections concert, and I would like to try to do something that hopefully will be a win-win.
By way of introduction I've been a Cure fan since the early 80's - my favourite albums are probably Kiss Me and Disintegration, but they've all been meaningful to me at different points in my life. Last time I saw them was in 2007 - queued up and was pretty much front and centre at Rod Laver. Great night. (Sigh.)
The company I work for provides financial support for a number of orphanages in Cambodia (Sunrise Childrens Villages, www.scv.org.au). A number of my fellow employees and myself are aiming to raise $150,000 for a new project to care for and educate Cambodian children with HIV/AIDS.
To this end, I would like to offer my extra ticket (Circle V) for sale to support our fund-raising effort. I've had some contact with Craig who's happy to help promote this cause on COF. Hopefully this is a welcome chance for a well-off Cure fan to see a unique show and at the same time contribute towards a project that will make a huge difference to kids that would otherwise have a bleak prospect in life.
I'm more than happy to establish my bonafides to Craig through other people involved in this fund-raising initiative at my company HQ, if anyone is skeptical about my motives. Any payment made would be made directly through a secure fund-raising page.
As an added incentive I'm willing to offer a premium seat in Circle B that I was planning to use if someone is feeling particularly generous :)
Hope someone can make a generous offer to help some of the most disadvantaged kids in our region.
Thx Craig :) Any queries or bids should be sent to the following email address: tallguywholikesstuff at hotmail dot com.
Please note only one ticket is available: Circle V ($139) but I will swap this for my own middle of Circle B seat ($180) if someone makes a very generous bid.
i have ust seen your post (thks to craig and 'c.o.f' in regrads to the cure tix u are puting up 4 auction. as like u i have been a cure fan since the 80's and have seen them numerous times so u could u/satand my disappointment and sadness after failing to secure a tix for this gig. so atm i am currently trying to bid 4 tix on ebay but they are so expensive so wen i read your unique and generous way of selling your tix it def did appeal to me. so i ust wanted to know which nite the tix is for and is the other (incentive tix) 4 the same nite or not? i applaud u on your generousity and goodwill and if there were more people like u in this world it would be such a better place to live!! cheers faithe1...
Gosh I'm a doofus. The ticket is for Wed night's concert. If I was really generous I would be auctioning my own ticket as well instead of swapping it. Anyway, only one enquiry so far...
how good is doofus as a word - he he!! sweet in regards to only 1 enquiry to date and thks 4 the info in regards to wat nite it is. so wen is the last chance to bid for the tix and wat seating arrangement is it? cheers faithe1
Oh I wish there was a live broadcast! That would have been cool! Duran Duran did that a few months back on-line. It was not perfect but damn it made you fell like you were there!
It's hard to say whether or not there will be clips on YouTube or not, as the Sydney Opera House is said to be pretty strict about not allowing cameras and phones to be used during events that are being filmed.
I'm sure someone will get something, but we will just have to wait and see if security is as tight as they are saying it might be.
I went to the Opera house booth and asked if some tickets would possibly released. He said often, they still hold a couple of seats and release them during the day or possibly right before the show. So for anyone who are in Sydney, any hopes of getting tickets is to keep checking the front booth (dread). If the answer is it's still sold out, then come back again (rinse repeat).
Can't wait for them to play "So What". Which PO Box was that again to order?
my two (2) tix are gone, sorry for the dalay in posting and sorry to those who contated me after they had gone. Can't wait for the show tonight, going to be amazing. Thanks again Craig.
At Chain of flowers drinks at op house bar. Just met someone with 2 A tix for sale at face value... maybe a bit less ( not sure if next to each other) buyer did not show up this morn. Call 0449 022 266

Thanks for posting, everyone. And please let me know when you sell your tickets so that I can remove your listing. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if my last comment went through? Looking for 2 x 2 tickets or just 2 tickets..

ReplyDeleteI was at the opera house today and tix went so quick, so if anyone could help,......
ReplyDeleteAlso, thank you to all who are selling tix for face value, i really respect that, this is a concert for fans, not for scalpers to make money.
I saw a guy in the line who was buying 4 tix , just to sell 2 on ebay at an inflated price, what an ass.

ml there are a bunch of fans staying at the Holiday Inn Old Town Sydney - it's about $200 a night but with a roommate or three that can be affordable.
ReplyDeleteExciting!
ReplyDeleteStill desperate for a ticket...sophienorved@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI have 2 tickets for the 1st June night ($139), that I would like to SWAP for 2 tickets on the 31st May night.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to swap for tickets of lesser value, or pay the extra for tickets of greater value.
I may be unable to attend the 1st June night due to birthday commitments on the 2nd (its my 18th! very sad...)
brickfur@gmail.com
Errrm, does anyone have a better seat than W stall on May 31? Tradsies and then you can sell my W?
ReplyDeleteHehehehe wishful thinking ;)
