Photo of the soggy setlist from The Cure's set at Austin City Limits on Oct. 12th, 2013. Note that 'Shake Dog Shake' was listed but not played. And 'Boys Don't Cry' was added at the end.
(Thanks Greg)
Interesting to see. The side notes after the songs are instructive. I believe the first of the numbers represent beats per minute: shake dog shake 90 (RS tuned). Shake Dog Shake has always been played with an (open)different tuning. Sometimes there is a JC reference that must be Jason Cooper regarding his drumming, but they are few, really. Interestingly, not on Push which I feel is often the most blatant use of click track to keep the drummer on track.
The guitar he's playing looks like a Reverend 'Buckshot' which is not a bass, but it has a knob that specifically controls the bass output of the guitar. Of course, it's possible he had one custom made as 6 string bass since this is the company that makes the 'Reeves Gabrels' signature guitars.
However soggy it looks, it's much drier that the audience was!

ReplyDeleteDoes Reeves play a bass on Push?

ReplyDeleteyes, it says v1 bass which is referring to a six string bass, like robert famously plays on pictures of you
ReplyDeleteYes the strings look like the famous cure 6 string bass ... actually a baritone and not a bass
ReplyDeleteMan they always play the same songs every show. Theyre good songs but I wish they would drop the repetition for once and join the dots.
