Top 10 wishes for Miami
Well, we've somehow already reached the end of the North American tour. I don't know where the time went, but it just flew by and was a complete blast. As we head off to the final 2 NA shows, what are your top 10 song wishes for Miami, from the list of the 81 songs played so far? Also, please note if you're going to the show(s) or wishing from afar. I'll get it started, and I'll be at both shows:
1. The Same Deep Water As You
2. Last Dance
3. Sinking
4. Cold
5. Jupiter Crash
6. The Drowning Man
7. Charlotte Sometimes
8. 2 Late
9. Other Voices
10. Pornography
How The Cure Endures
Wonderful article by Annie Zaleski at Salon, here's an excerpt:
"It’s not correct to say The Cure is underrated—after all, no band selling out 10,000-seat (and up) arenas is. But it’s almost too easy to take them for granted, since the group haven’t released a new studio album in eight years and, even then, tend to keep a low profile. Yet the Chicago concert—and, frankly, this entire tour—underscores the singularity of the band’s music. Post-punk, dream-pop, synthpunk, goth and psychedelic rock —all of these influences coalesce into something that can only be described as sounding like The Cure. That’s always been the case; after all, even their pop crossover hits “Lovesong” and “Friday I’m In Love” sounded like outliers. It’s significant that groups inspired by The Cure tend to only mimic certain facets of the band: the dark guitar creases, the sparkling keyboards, the roiling post-punk storms. No band has been able to capture the depth—and nooks and crannies—of the group’s sonic chemistry.
Near the start of the Chicago show, The Cure launched into “Push,” a fan favorite from 1985’s “The Head on the Door.” The crowd let out a huge, cheering roar as the song began, dancing joyfully to the extended instrumental intro and pumping their fists to the song’s “Go, go, go!” chorus exhortation. That communal ecstasy cropped up again and again throughout the night, as the audience reveled in the familiar and the unexpected. The Cure’s music and reputation was predicated on unifying outsiders—those drawn to (or plagued by) unrequited or missing love, fatalistic romances and general melancholy—but this outlaw attitude has only become more of a bonding experience as the years have progressed. Forty years on, the misfits haven’t exactly won—but at a Cure concert, they’ve certainly found a place they can feel at home."

Charlotte show included in TM free vouchers
If you received any of the free vouchers or discount codes from the TM lawsuit settlement, The Cure's show in Charlotte, NC on June 23rd is included in the list of eligible shows.
From Mass Live:
Ticketmaster is offering 50 million of its customers vouchers for free tickets and discounts thanks to a hefty class-action lawsuit settlement.
And if you've bought a ticket through the service between late 1999 and early 2013, you should have at least one voucher sitting in your Ticketmaster account.
Ticketmaster released Tuesday an initial list of 450 shows across the U.S. eligible for the vouchers, including The Cure, Bob Dylan, Mumford and Sons, Snoop Dogg with Wiz Khalifa, Weezer, and Modest Mouse with Brand New.
Dates for the concerts range from this week to September.
The vouchers are a result of a class-action lawsuit over "deceptive" and "jacked up" service fees, according to Billboard magazine.
Customers are poised to receive one voucher for each ticket bought through Ticketmaster during the class period -- from Oct. 21, 1999 through Feb. 27, 2013 -- with a cap of 17. The vouchers expire in 2020.
Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Consequence of Sound has already reported technical issues with the voucher system, with some customers saying their voucher codes weren't accepted at checkout.

A Cure fan in the Nova Scotia government
Fun story from CBC. Further proof that we are EVERYWHERE. :)
Nova Scotia government Periscopes Cure concert by accident
Mistake occurred when employee attending concert used government social media account rather than own
By Richard Woodbury, CBC News Posted: Jun 20, 2016 1:24 PM
A live stream of a New York concert by English rock band The Cure was accidentally broadcast for less than two minutes from the Nova Scotia government's Twitter account early Sunday.
Government spokeswoman Tina Thibeau says the error happened when a government employee attending the Saturday concert used the government's Twitter account, rather than their own.
To broadcast the concert, the person used Periscope, a Twitter app that allows people to live stream audio and video over the internet.
The tweet went out at about 12:20 a.m. AT Sunday.
Thibeau says the post was deleted as soon as it became known, and was up for under two minutes.
The Cure are in the midst of a three-night run at Madison Square Garden and are known for hit songs like Friday I'm in Love, Close to Me and Lovesong.
