  2. In Kyoto Song, I guess they are definetly playing over a "tape", so why didnt they play more tapes (WCIBY, Lullaby, POY ?)

  3. I can't remember if it was during Kyoto Song or another song. Chris held up a sign asking Robert if he received her roses. Robert squinted at the sign and then said something like, "I don't f**king know about that" while shaking his head and shrugging. We laughed our asses off.

  5. Joe-
I saw Robert do that from a few rows back, although i had no idea what he was referring to, but I thought he was reading a sign..

    Funny

  7. I think I took some video of Torture, but the sound is just jumbled noise on all of my videos.

  8. I remember being so mad when they played Torture in Mexico City last year. It is one of my favorite songs and something I never even thought they would play. I was thinking if I went to all the CA shows that they would play it but alas they did not. Darn it.

  10. hey joe! - he responded to me twice about my sign...

you can see in kyoto song at about 2:30 where he stops (you can also see my sign waving around) and he puts the mic under his chin - thats when he squinted and gave that look like ..."uhh...i dont know...i dont think so..."

i cant remember which song he said the "i dont fucking have a clue" response to...he was on the other side of us then - more in the middle of the stage.

that was so awesome though! :D

Great Porl on the guitar (even though he goes a little farther then he should at the end).
The Best of the new songs, closely followed by UTS...

  14. chris and joe, that is awesome they interacted with you like that. during curiosa i had a couple of choice "moments" with them myself - specifically in nashville. the crowd was somewhat sparse in the pit and a friend and i kept smiling and making eyes at simon and he finally broke into laughter about it, and during push i was dancing up and down so crazily that i was noticed by robert and he smiled at me and danced "at" me a little bit.

  19. i have to admit that as much as i like this version of OOTW, it needs the keys/piano. i don't miss the keys that much on most songs, but i do on select songs, and this is one of them.

  20. yes - new rule - the cure may not tour at any time other than the summer or the two weeks that contain christmas and new years.

    *gavel slams*

  22. Alright gang...a comment and a question..

Comment: I've been listening to The Cure since very near the begining. I can't remember them sounding better than they do on this tour. When they play the 1979 encore, those songs sound better than they ever have. Agree?

Question: Looks like I made it into the "digital music" age just in time. I've got a new Zune and my first task was to put together a playlist of HIGH QUALITY recordingd of songs from this tour. Between the Shrine show, the Boston show, and UTS from Redrocks, I have 49 songs so far. There are some obvious ommisions from my list. Where can I round out my list? Thanks in advance for any help.

Also, If you can point me in the right direction to sell some vintage vinyl, let me know (I know this isn't the place)...

  23. absofreakinglutely, christina! LOL...

  24. joester, i would tend to agree with your comment, but i have not seen them on every tour. however, when i compare video clips of them in the past and now, often i am convinced they sound better now. but it may be my "blind passion" talking... give me a few months to calm down from the shows, and i'll let you know my thoughts again. :-)

  25. Cat - I've been listening to them since before they really knew how to play thier instruments (only a slight exaggeration). Find me a recording of BDC, JSET, Grinding Halt, etc. that sounds better than right now, I'll load up the new Zune with New Kids on the Block....

  26. I do know that Killing an Arab has never sounded more manic. I am sure of that. Not that I am a bootleg geek, I just intuit these things. :-)

  27. LOVE the crazy arab!!!! and the rockin 1015 makes me bounce off the walls!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. yeah, christina, the crazy arab almost blew me out of the building. WTF! the old school encores are a trip!

btw, at which point in the kyoto video did you say you were waving your sign and robert looked at you.

  29. cat - its at about 2:30 into kyoto. its hard to see cuz the vid is far back and somewhat blurry.

  31. I can't agree with old songs sounding better when played now. I love the 1979 songs in 80/81. I also love the approach towards old songs in 82 (adapting them to Pornography type drums) and 84. But I think the concerts I like the most are the 1985/86 ones due to the choice of the old tracks as well as how they were played (still with the feeling...)
