Sorry, joester, but all I heard was "thank you and good night" and then he was off. No lingering on the stage before he went off as he did the night before. Just "thank you and good night" and he was gone.
Couple of little observations about last night's show. He seemed to be hitting his forehead a lot, banging it with his fist, poking it with his finger. He sang a portion of Charlotte Sometimes with both hands covering his face.
His walks up to the 1st mezzanine on both sides were great. He'd done that on the second Radio City show of the Swing Tour but that night it had a whole different feeling. I don't know if it was Robert or me but there seemed to be a really weird vibe going on at that show and by the time he got to "the Walk", which is when he climbed up the one side (he only did it once that night) with security warily hovering around him, I was ready for anything. I wouldn't have been surprised had he jumped off the balcony into the crowd below or stepped off and hovered in the air above us. Last night, he was just having a good time.
I don't really post hardly at all here. I think this is my third post but I read and I have depended on Craig and this site for years and years to keep me updated on Robert and his adventures. Believe me, it's a lot easier being a fan nowadays than it was when the Cure started and we didn't have the internet.....especially for a girl growing up in a small town in PA. Thanks Craig. :)
About coming back out to do Faith....He did add the "good night" after thank you and I think that usually means it's the end so I don't know...But, yes, strange for him to leave so abruptly.
Thanks for posting it on youtube.com, Craig. I've emailed the link to a pitchfork writer and hopefully it'll drum up some critical praise for one of our favorite bands!
What an amazingly unforgettable weekend! Wish I could have stayed for the RCMH show, though.
It was great to finally meet everyone and can't wait to see you all again!
This weekend, I met some people that I know will be in my life forever and if it was not for this forum, I never would have connected with so many wonderful, beautiful, sweet, caring, goofy and fun people (so thank you, Craig, for all you do to create an environment for us to connect!!)
I will never forget this weekend...it was simply elegant!
BTW Craig: Did Rev. Heron upload any of the MSG sound check video? It was amazing to have been there for that with her (still can't believe we got in!!)and I'd love to see it again!
That's understandable. I am sure she's busy editing everything as we speak....there was soooo much footage, between the sound check and all of the other stuff that went with that, plus the show and then all of the pics we took!! Half way through the show, she gave me her camera to shoot the stills while she took the vids...I'm not a photographer by ANY means, so I'm not sure what we got, but I know she shot some fantastic video, FROM THE 3rd row center....We had sooo much fun, Craig...you should have been there :)
Great....almost as great as Craig's work!!(specially in the last month).I am going to miss getting into work in the morning in London and having no setlist/comments to read from the night before:( Thanks from all of us in Europe..
I'm really upset today and sad. I don't think I'll ever be able to listen to UTS without crying. What if that WAS it? No, no, he said that for years and they always come back. He's probably reading this now and thinking "why does everyone think we're done?"
and she's was such a trooper and her husband is such an angel!!
He had to have an emergency apendectomy right before she had to leave for the show...but he told her she should go to the show anyway, so she finally got to the hotel at 4:30am (flew in all the way from SLC), then we had to change hotels, crash the soundcheck, go back to the hotel to freshen up, go to the TGIFridays thing (we met some awsome people here!!), connect with our ticket people (2 different folks...thanks Carol!!), sneak the vid equipment into the venue (I'll NEVER give away her secret...lol), so I am sure she is exhausted and will sent everything along as soon as she has an opportuity to get it all downloaded and edited.
All I can say is that it was an amazing experience and I am SOO HAPPY to count the Rev among one of my dearest friends (an non spirtual, spirtual advisors..sorry, inside joke!) and I can't wait to see all the pic's and vids she got :)
On another note, do you have any more pics from the pre show gatherings from either night?
We met some great folks here too, but sadly, I didn't have a camera with me then, so I am just relying on memory from who I met and would love to have some pics of that too since it was the people I met that made the weekend really special :)
Only 14 hours posted on youtube and already over 1.400 hits ! Cool. I´m sure they will come back. They just need a little break. And in three month the album comes out!!!Yeah!
i just went on flickr and found out one of my friends went to both MSG and RCMH!! -_- shes on her way here to SF, cali, interestingly. wish i could travel!
i havent seen the band this happy in a while, they enjoyed themselves as much as we did
The videos are queued up on YouTube, so new ones should be popping on throughout the day as they get uploaded and processed. I've noticed that the option to watch in high quality doesn't come on right away, apparently it takes some additional processing, but that will be enabled on all of them eventually. The Soundcheck videos *will* go online soon, I wanted to have all the good quality stuff up first though.
I'll second everything Sugar Girl said. It was so amazing to meet everyone, Cure fans are the BEST! And yes, Sugar Girl IS my new soul sister! Thank you SG for being so sweet and kind to me, for taking care of me at the hotel and for being up for all of our awesome adventures!
Thanks to my awesome husband for saying "HELL NO!" when I asked him if I should turn around and come home (I was at my connecting flight in Dallas when he got out of surgery).
I wish I could have spent more time with EVERYONE in NYC! Tony and Curedelirio, it was fun to go to the afterparty with you and dance the night away!
And MOST OF ALL - HUGE THANKS to Craig for persevering all of these years and for making it possible for Cure fans worldwide to get information about everything to do with the band, and to meet, connect and bond with each other over our shared passion for The CURE!
Rev: those videos from MSG are absolutely amazing....while I won't ask your secret of getting the equipment in, might I ask what kind of equipment you use?
Tim, I use an awesome HD camera from Sony, the DCR-SR60 I have the extended battery which is a must for concert recording. The regular battery is only good for just over an hour. Drop me an email if you want to know more about my "technique" curehalo@gmail.com
Sorry to say, the concert footage could have been even better quality, it was on the lowest setting because I was concerned about how full the HD was and I didn't want to miss anything!
DJ, no, my E-410 is my "stealth" SLR, no video from that :D
Andy, thank you SO much for recording, sharing and ripping those FUSE files "six different ways". That was the only way my hub got to see the Fuse version of the show, we downloaded it yesterday and watched it together last night! A million thanks, you've made so many Cure fans happy!
well i don't go to many shows and i don't know how to "tape" one, so this was the best i could do to help my cure community out.
and about burning the AVI file to DVD, i use ConvertXtoDVD 3. It allows me to divide into chapters each song. I already burned 6 DVDs for friends, but i'm such a procrastinator at sending/mailing them out that I don't think I could do it on a global level for all you COFers. But I will continue to see my torrent though.
Hey, Andy, we've really been enjoying the Fuse show! I appreciate your uploading it. I seeded it all last night but had to shut it down today because it was slowing my system down too much.
Thanx andy for uploading the show. I think something is wrong with the "buffer" on TPB. It´s not really loading. The other songs are ok. Or is something wrong with my PC?
Elise, Hope you're not suffering the post-tour syndrome too seriously. Back to real life indeed.
Andy, thank you SO MUCH for uploading the Fuse special. Otherwise, there's no way I'm going to see this video ever. I saw it last night and can't wait to see it again tonight (LOLed at the COF sign - that was fantastic!). It's definitely the cure for my post-tour syndrome. :) You ROCK!
I know it's not Cure related and that no one cares except for Sofia and DJ, but: TOM WAITS WAS FUCKING EXCELLENT. He really helped "cure" me from my Cure blues. HOLY FUCKING MOTHER OF JESUS. He's the best ever. Of course Bobby and the Boyz are still my favorites, but Tom Waits brings it to a theatrical level - it's really just performance art, and damn good, eccentric, comedic vaudvillian performance art. He's so fucking awesome and I can't get over how exceedingly smashing he is live. And the place was packed! And at 58, Waits has killer vocals and a stunning performance style. I LOVE HIM!
Now back to our regularly scheduled Cure program...
PS It was totally worth missing RCMH for a chance to see Waits. I wish with all my heart I could have seen RCMH, but Waits is legendary like no other, and it was worth it, in the end. No regrets. Well, maybe a few - but I'm over it by now. Waits is too phenomenal for lingering regrets.
I am about ready to head into my Monday morning meeting (worst part of my week), but I wanted to say hi and to show you the pic I finally got of the S Gallup St sign!
I know, it's not terribly exciting after such a weekend and a tour, but it's all I've got right now! :) Maybe if I have bad enough withdrawal, I'll steal the sign... ;)
Anyway, onwards...to my yucky meeting! Be back soon. :)
Good luck with your meeting! I can't believe how much I miss chatting with you guys. I'm also getting ready for bed now... am watching another clip of UTS before I sleep. Hope it brings me a beautiful Cure dream.
Jenny - I'm just about to go to bed too. It's been a sad day.... like I've lost a part of my soul. I know it's dramatic, but something has definitely been missing.
Hi Jenny - I don't know if you're still here, but that photo is of a street sign in the town where I live. There are a bunch of spinoff streets with the same name (S Gallup Way, S Gallup Court, etc.) and there is even an intersection of S Gallup St and W Lily Ave!! :) I had mentioned the street to Elise a long time ago during one of the early Cure chats, and even though she told me to steal the sign, I am a good girl and just stole a photo of it. (That Elise - such a bad influence! ;) Heehee.)
Hope you have a good night. There's no better way to prepare for dreams than to listen to UTS... :)
Elise: I feel the same way you do, about feeling like there's something big missing today. *hugs* Hope you have sweet dreams and that you feel better tomorrow. I'm so glad to have seen you and Jenny here this morning (evening for you!)
So...somebody tell me. Did we get the customary "We'll see you again" at the conclusion of last nights show? That always leaves me optomistic...
ReplyDeleteactually, i heard robert say 'well, that's it. 30 years is WAY too long, and you've all sucked as fans. thanks for nothing.'
ReplyDeletei still remember what he said last..i think it was...i have to go..she says ..please stay i have to go she says..!! or something like that..
ReplyDeleteSorry, joester, but all I heard was "thank you and good night" and then he was off. No lingering on the stage before he went off as he did the night before. Just "thank you and good night" and he was gone.

Just a single "thank you, goodnight"
ReplyDeleteNo drawn out thank yous good nights well see you agains waves as usual.
Very strange....
I wonder if the plan was to come back and play "faith"...perhaps he was thwarted by the curfew police?
ReplyDeleteI guess we'll never know...
Who am I kidding? If that really was the case..Craig will let us know within a few days...so..we'll know.
Seems odd to just leave.
MonkeyButt: LOL... :P
ReplyDeleteTim.
ReplyDeleteThat was what I was thinking too...
About coming back out to do Faith....He did add the "good night" after thank you and I think that usually means it's the end so I don't know...But, yes, strange for him to leave so abruptly.

ReplyDeleteso your comp has been running all this time 0_0? thanks a bunch, youve contributed something great to the cure community!
Hey, Andy, we've really been enjoying the Fuse show! I appreciate your uploading it. I seeded it all last night but had to shut it down today because it was slowing my system down too much.
ReplyDeleteI'll re-seed tonight if it would help.
rev- don´t worry about the quality. It´s perfect. I just watch some of your stuff from msg.
ReplyDeleteYou´ve been very close to the stage. Cool.
rev- and thank you for uploading.;)
ReplyDeleteThis potion is too strong; I simply can't get enough of this song.
ReplyDelete*sigh*
Thanx andy for uploading the show.

ReplyDeleteNow back to our regularly scheduled Cure program...
PS Thanks so much for these UTS vids - amazing. And the Freakshow vid at RCMH was the cat's tatas! I love love LOVE RSX!
ReplyDeletePS See Tom Waits at ANY PRICE! He is America's BEST LIVING SINGER SONGWRITER - don't let anyone tell you differently! FUCKING AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteOnwards with The Cure.
I just re-watched the Freakshow vid twice. LOVE IT AND ROBERT'S GOOFY DANCE. He is WAY too adorable for words.
ReplyDeleteAgreed RE: Tom Waits and the infernal adorableness of RSX in that vid. :^D
ReplyDeleteMan, George Carlin died. T_T
ReplyDeleteRSX = infernal adorableness - absolutely! Waits = simply infernal. :-P
ReplyDeleteFinally watched the Freakshow clip and see what Cat means. This man is FUCKING ADORABLE. The way he danced in front of Simon? Priceless!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny,
ReplyDeleteHow's life in Taiwan?
Life sucks here - I'm missing The Cure already :(
Hi Elise and Jenny
ReplyDeletev - *running hug*
ReplyDeleteElise: *running hugs and voodoo smiles* :)
ReplyDeleteI am about ready to head into my Monday morning meeting (worst part of my week), but I wanted to say hi and to show you the pic I finally got of the S Gallup St sign!

v - I may not be here when you get back - gotta get some sleep.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the piccy... I'm gonna go to look at it RIGHT now.
It's been a hard day in my world, I can't tell you how pleased I was to see your 'hello' pop up.
Enjoy ;-) your meeting.
Hey Elise and V!! (big hug) Didn't see you were here! Have you gone to bed already?
ReplyDeleteLife sucks, as always. I'm missing The Cure too. :( After the tour everything seems so quite now, and that makes me miss all those concert chats more!
V, that sign is sooo cool! What's its story?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your meeting!
ReplyDeleteSleep well, talk soon :)
Aww, Elise. Hope you're feeling better now. Sweet dreams underneath the stars! :)
ReplyDeleteONWARDS!
Yay, meeting is done!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny - I don't know if you're still here, but that photo is of a street sign in the town where I live. Elise: I feel the same way you do, about feeling like there's something big missing today. *hugs* Hope you have sweet dreams and that you feel better tomorrow. I'm so glad to have seen you and Jenny here this morning (evening for you!)
ReplyDeleteall these videos are great!
ReplyDeleteI like that you can really hear the lyrics in the Fuse version. I'll have to write down the lyrics once I get home.
ReplyDeleteV, thanks for the story. :) That is too cool. You are indeed a good girl - not sure about me, I might still it... ;)
ReplyDeleteHow I'd love to live at S Gallup Way! You live in a cool place, V!
So now that we have some higher-quality copies of this song, has anyone done the definitive lyrics yet?
ReplyDeleteI can never get enough of this song! It's amazing! Great video rev. Took me a while to see it but it was worth the wait. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDelete
