I'll bet you anything the 4th single is Baby Rag Dog Book. That would make sense. They've been closing their sets with that song, and it definitely does not sound like the last song on an album. It's the last song of the singles series.
I'm loving this "release singles on the 13th of every month" thing... it just keeps being something to get excited about and look forward to! Whee! Love the genius madman that is RS! :^D
Yeah, I sincerely doubt that Baby Rag Dog Book would ever be a single, there's nothing single about it and theoretically a "single" is supposed to something catchy to draw people into the album. BRDB is the kind of song that Robert puts on his albums for the hardcore fans. It's too noisy to be a single. I'm certain Perfect Boy will be the final single, it only makes sense. Wow,I said the word "single" in every sentence. Single!
BRDB won't be a single. It's too much instrumental and too less vocals. 2 minutes intro... never gonna be a single! But I doubt too the BRDB will be the album closing track... maybe like Shiver and Shake on Kiss me³ the rocker before the pathetic ending. ;)
There has to be a more distinguishing characteristic than "the girl the black hair in the front row..." I find it hard to believe that there's ever been a Cure show with less than a few "girls with black hair in the front row" heh.
JPX - You never say that about a woman's feet! No Elise just has cute feet that are apparently in many photos from around the world. Maybe Robert noticed. : )
It's so funny, feet are one of those things that women talk about a lot but, truth be known, I don't think guys care about them in the least. I remember in college there was this obese girl named Gretchen and she always pointed out what small feet she had. I always thought, "Yeah, but, ..." Having said all this, I'm sure Elise's feet are cute (whatever "cute" feet means) =)
Well, you KNOW that Robert is never going to write a song about South America, since they never go there. Geez, with as strong a fanbase as they have down there, why is it that they haven't hit that area with a full tour since 1987?
Sigh, leave it to me to have to go when things get interesting, but I better go grocery shopping now. I will hope to be back for some of the show tonight. :)
JPX: You'd be appalled at how little I've eaten in the past week or two. ;) I am in true need of food...as much as I'd rather stay here right now, the clock is ticking.
elise---I'm always taking pictures of myself. I don't know why but I think I look terrible in most of them. My face looks to red, I look to fat & my hair is always a mess. I just think take the pictures because I get so bored.

I believe Dr. Freud would have something tos say about such typos... :-D
I saw Portishead at Coachella.. really good! I had never really listened to them before.. I was thinking about getting an album, but not sure where to start. Any suggestions?
Seriously, Why Does Every Bloody Word On That Listing Description Start With A Capital Letter? I Would Rather Eat My Own Face Than Buy Something From Someone Who Thinks This Is An Attractive Way To Push Product. Also, It Makes Cure Fans Seem Retarded - Which We Definitely Are Not. Are We?
i'm pumped for this SWID. it's my favorite of the new songs besides UTS, and UTS most likely won't be the august single (although that would be cool), so i feel like this is MY single. :)
oh and it also comes out three days after my birfday so that's an added bonus. :)
Portishead’s debut, 'Dummy' (1994), is their classic, and probably the best way to get started. It´s the most varied one, some of the songs are even groovy (although not really party music – that is simply not their style). However, their live album from 1998, 'Roseland NYC Live', could very well be just as good a way to start. It mixes songs from their first 2 albums and is kind of special in that it was recorded with an orchestra – which adds to the overall romantic feeling of the whole thing. All in all, it’s torch song paradise.
Anyway, this year’s 'Third' is also good, although more difficult to get into. More experimental, trying different sound possibilities, with usually good results, but I think it just lacks enough GREAT songs to be called a masterpiece.
You could (and should) also check 'Out of Season', credited to Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man, which is sort of a side project by Portishead's singer and which is truly beautiful. Actually, it could be called the best Portishead album that Portishead never released.
I think it's serious. It's the same seller that listed The Only One weeks before the offical confirmation on www.thecure.com
ReplyDeleteDown Under sounds quite good to me. Somehow like NY Trip... :)
down under? where is elise?!
ReplyDeleteMoon - Oh I don't doubt it. Our source, "Friend Of COF", had pretty much confirmed that Sleep would be next. He/She just didn't know the b-side yet.
ReplyDeletethe quote on the ebay page says "'Sleep When I'm Dead' is the Tird of this series"
ReplyDeleteactually, i rather like the song!
How dare he! : )

ReplyDeleteExcellent! The first 2 songs have been better than any of the singles off the last album bring it on! what price a boy i used to know for august....
ReplyDelete4th single has to be 'perfect boy.' it just has 'single' written all over it.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this "release singles on the 13th of every month" thing... it just keeps being something to get excited about and look forward to! Whee! Love the genius madman that is RS! :^D

ReplyDeleteSofia - Woo hoo a song about their time in Australia last year? Maybe about the girl with the black hair in the front row at the Adelaide concert?
ReplyDeleteBRDB won't be a single. It's too much instrumental and too less vocals. 2 minutes intro... never gonna be a single! But I doubt too the BRDB will be the album closing track... maybe like Shiver and Shake on Kiss me³ the rocker before the pathetic ending. ;)

ReplyDeleteMaree - yeah I know, but I could pretend it is about me.
ReplyDeleteWell, *naturally* it's about you..! ;^D
ReplyDeleteMaree - Exactly :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe he saw your feet Elise. ; )
ReplyDeleteFeet! That *has* to be it... that's what I was getting at, Elise... you aren't just *any* black-haired girl in the front row. :^D
ReplyDeleteI don't think it would be my feet - they looked the same as everyone else's in Doc Martin's that night.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the deal with your feet, are they monstrously huge? =)
ReplyDeleteJPX - You never say that about a woman's feet!
ReplyDeleteNo Elise just has cute feet that are apparently in many photos from around the world. Maybe Robert noticed. : )

ReplyDeleteJPX - Feet are totally under-rated. : )
ReplyDeleteDo I detect a fetish...
ReplyDelete*begins to regret putting the feet photo up*
ReplyDeleteLink to photo please!
ReplyDeleteThat bird has flown.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to catch it!
ReplyDeleteOh no no no, I'm joking with you Elise! I forgot that JPX will read WAY too much into things. : )
ReplyDeleteCraig - 's ok - but you do need to be careful when JPX is around.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone, why don't we move to the Atlanta thread - that way we do not have to keep an eye on two?
ReplyDeleteYou gotta remember it is early in the morning here
Oh so here's where all the fun is going down...;)
ReplyDeleteDOH
ReplyDelete*walked right into that one*
o:)
DO NOT say "going down"! JPX is here. : )
ReplyDeleteI'm just joking guys =) Sometimes my dry sense of humor gets lost in the text. Imagine me saying all those things while winking with a goofy smile!
ReplyDeleteI didn't mean it like that, I swear! o:)
ReplyDeletev, I'm shocked and appalled!
ReplyDelete=)
That's it I'm outta here!!!!
ReplyDeleteGotta take the hubby to work. BRB
BTW, see that, I'm starting to speak young speak!!! BRB indeed!!
Bye Elise!
ReplyDeleteBye Elise!!
ReplyDeleteElise does have cute feet and pretty eyes, though. Gotta say...
ReplyDeleteSee, now we've scared Elise away. Good going JPX. : )
ReplyDeleteSilly boys!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry! I'll be more sensitive next time. Does anyone else have a body part I could insult?
ReplyDeleteJPX: LOL. Now there's a loaded question.
ReplyDeleteAw, you guys are all awesome!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I swear it feels like we're all at summer camp or something. Anyone up for a midnight swim...underneath the stars?
ReplyDeleteI had to do it. : )
Craig: Believe it or not, I had the same thought about summer camp just this afternoon. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I would love to go for a dip... ;)
Like I said before V, great minds think alike. : )
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll take you up on that dip, after the prom. ; )
Oooh, can we have s'mores afterwards? I'll tell you guys some spooky stories.
ReplyDeleteDon't start anything JPX. : )
ReplyDeleteCraig and v, sitting in a tree...
ReplyDeleteCraig: Oh hell yes! ;)
ReplyDeleteI never got to go to that kind of camp. I always went to sports camps for some reason. I'm not even into sports. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteWe should have had this "camp" discussion on Friday the 13th. And JPX could have dressed up as Jason and scarred us silly. : )
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention that, check it out, http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=8984&count=0
ReplyDeleteSigh, leave it to me to have to go when things get interesting, but I better go grocery shopping now. I will hope to be back for some of the show tonight. :)
ReplyDeleteBye V...hurry back!
ReplyDeleteCraig: Oh I will. :) Hope it won't take too long...
ReplyDeletev. for crying out loud, go without food! You can always eat, when will you be able to talk about The Cure with other fans again?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, tomorrow.
Hahahahahaha...too funny JPX!
ReplyDeleteJPX: You'd be appalled at how little I've eaten in the past week or two. ;) I am in true need of food...as much as I'd rather stay here right now, the clock is ticking.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry - you didn't scare me away, just had to get rid of the hubby.... err, I mean take the hubby to work :)
ReplyDeleteElise - tell the truth, has Dave figured out a way to WOW at work?
ReplyDeleteYou know, the way you COF at work. : )
Craig - nah - as much time as he spends on WoW, I don't think he understands true obsession.
ReplyDeletere: moontear's comment waaaaaaaay up there at the top re: kmkmkm's 'pathetic ending.'
ReplyDeleteam i the ONLY person who really likes 'fight' ?
Monkey - yeah, we got sidetracked in here. : )
ReplyDeleteI'll admit it, I LOVE Fight!
Wow Sleep When I'm Dead is maybe the next single! Come on July 13th! I really like that song!
ReplyDeleteOh I better move to the Atlanta thread. It's only 30 minutes till Cure Time!
I like Fight!
ReplyDeletenow I'M sidetracked...where's the photo of elise's feet???
ReplyDeleteI'll never tell. : )
ReplyDeleteThank you, Craig.
ReplyDeleteBloody hell, I actually put up a real photo as well, but the focus is on my 'witness relocation' shot.
I kept taking pictures of my feet last week! With & with shoes. I have such a foot fetish! LOL!
ReplyDeleteCK - I just despise having my photo taken. I even had a photo taken of my feet at the wedding the other day.
ReplyDeleteelise---I'm always taking pictures of myself. I don't know why but I think I look terrible in most of them. My face looks to red, I look to fat & my hair is always a mess. I just think take the pictures because I get so bored.
ReplyDeletethis song rocks live. in austin i wasn't blown away by it, but at my other two shows i loved it. quite intense.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how this person knows this info ahead of anyone else? how do they get these listings?
ReplyDeleteAlastair - remember what I told you about "the system"? : )
ReplyDeleteThey have to know ahead of time what they need to order.

Why are we only getting one B-side per single? Meh, maybe I'm just greedy.

Speaking about Third. Anyone here likes the new Portishead album?
ReplyDeleteI saw Portishead at Coachella.. really good! I had never really listened to them before.. I was thinking about getting an album, but not sure where to start. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteGet their album Dummy.

sleep when i'm dead is now on hmv.co.uk
ReplyDeleteif they're going to cover men at work, i wish they'd do 'overkill' instead.
ReplyDeleteMB - that's hilarious. As long as they don't do Be Good Johnny :)
