Last night's show was being filmed by multiple cameras for HDNet. No idea where this will end up (Robert?), but lets keep fingers and toes crossed that it will be released unedited. Please? We all promise to buy 10 copies each. : )
My guess is that it will be mixed with the Paris show to release a double DVD live of the 4Tour, as Paris was missing a critical mass of new songs, they're now in the box !
A mix of the European and US leg of the tours makes sense !
To clockwise cat: Absolutely devoured your review on the Charlotte Show! Magnificent writing (although I'm no expert)!!! I could really relate to everything you said!! The Cure are incredibly amazing and the way they release one's emotions is something that cannot be explained... Thank you cat!
b43: yes, i did know that. mexico always gets the best shows! and deservedly so. i might go down there next time they play that country. it's my favorite place ever.
the SHOW was fantastic. i need the video of it to relive the night. however, if they have me on there at all - and i fear they will, cuz toward the end i was shrieking like a freak - i will be mortified beyond belief.
i just checked my cable listings and they don't offer HDNet so all us that have crappy Comcast need to get started telling them to get it! hopefully they'll just release it on DVD so that won't matter!
I am dying that I missed going to Charlotte and the hope of seeing it at some point is now my newest obsession...oh and somehow going to NYC...I am sooo happy they were filming last night...PLEASE put it out!!! I need to see!!!
PS - to Cat, I completely agree w/ alter2elise...loved your review and so happy for you...if it could'nt be me I am glad you got to burst w? happiness last night!!!
I’LL BUY 10 NO 10,000,000 COPIES FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! WE NEED THIS SHOW ON DVD/BLUE RAY NO EDITS ASAP!!!
And I wonder when it will air on HDNET? Shit I don’t have a HDTV, so it has to be released!!!
Wow what a night in Charlotte! FAITH FUCKING AMAZING ENCORE! Thanks to cat for your Excellent Reviews and Updates! So glad you had an incredible night! What a unbelievable show! :)
well, i don't think my shriek when holy hour came on was recorded - it was mine and anah's crazy yelling at the end that was on film. whether they use it or not is a different story.
the people next to me in the 3rd row sat down for much of the show. WTF... they livened up when JLH was played, and danced and sang, but then sat back down. at one point they left but then came back. they were standing for the faith encore and i think i even heard the girl gush a little bit about it, so i don't know if she was mesmerized because she loves faith songs or because she had never heard them and was awed...
From this side of the world - it kills me that there are people at this concert that don't appreciate it for what it is. As per your review - there are fans that dream of that set list.
elise, the crowd at these shows is just a weird mix of casual and die-hards and everything in between. but i don't understand having 3rd row seats and sitting down most of the time. to her credit, the girl looked a bit tired and security asked her what was wrong (apparently nothing), and they (the girl and her bf) were truly nice people, allowing me to stand in front of them because i was CLEARLY more into the show than they were - but yeah, whatever. i don't quite get it.
I don't get it either why people go to concerts & just sit/stand there with no emotions like a wet dish rag but hey whatever floats their boat.
Maybe she was sick. I've had it happen to me at a show too but I fight through it! But did I pay for it the next day!
It's funny to see the hards getting wild for every song and screaming their heads off. I lost my voice both shows I went to!
Then the people who like the cure but might no know everything or the new stuff but are still standing & cheering along.
Then the casuals who go wild & crazy for the pop stuff but when something dark comes on they will say “Is that a new song, I really don’t like it.” or got out & grab a beer What The Fuckever?
Not that I'll likely get an answer with any info - but I just wrote the folks at HDnet to see what info they could provide!
Thank you to Cat for the wonderful review - man am I jealous! I posted a request for the Faith encore in Houston on the Cure's official site. I am glad somebody got it - and that you guys got to see it!
Let's hope that if HDnet broadcasts the footage they got it includes at least the first encore!
I checked the HDnet website there is nothing about The Cure on there but if they sell all of the concerts they tape on their website and at Amazon.com, so The Cure one should be available soon if this is why it was taped!
marc- i'd buy bluerays by the ton, but there's not a reliable PLAYER yet, save for the ps3. and i don't care about ps3. i think december they'll be rolled out- maybe?
The Sunrise gig was exceptional. I was very fortunate to be able to attend, and to do so in the company of three lovely friends. However, I wish we had been special enough to Robert -- as the Charlotte fans obviously were -- to get 'Underneath the Stars' and the 'Faith' encore. :'-(
For those of us who can't attend multiple shows, it's very frustrating to know that, were it not for home/job/school/financial obligations, extraordinary and often rarely-played songs would be ours for the taking. But let me dwell on what I got rather than what was kept in the treasure chest. Good for Charlotte. I hope that NYC gets VIP treatment as well.
I won't hold my breath waiting for the Charlotte recording to be made public, but if it is released, and if I've not fallen prey to a disease of old age in the interim, I'm there, the millisecond it becomes available.
I am on cloud 9 gazillion today. i can't think or do anything else. am meeting my friend later as he has a class to teach. this friend, btw, turned onto the cure via me, but only has a coupla albums. but he really likes them and says he will go with me next time to the show. he's a cool-ass artist mofo who is so far left-field it's not even funny. he's wildly crazy and a genius.
i am in the hotel parking lot stealing their wifi. lol. i had to check out of my room earlier.
lol - a manager dude walked by me and looked at me askance in my car, typing away. if i knew charlotte better i would find a coffee shop with wifi, but i couldn't find one.
The High Definition optical disc format was ruined by the format war.
Blu-ray, the "winner" is a real looser as far as i'm concerned.
But i want to watch the Cure in pristine HD quality, and Blu-ray is the only game in town. It's to bad we're nearly 10 years into HD television sets being in our homes... and NO MATURE HD disc content available yet.
Last night was insane. I still can't quite get over the setlist...not to mention FAITH. But then, the end of the show was so perfect. I think my nipples hurt from jumping up and down so much!
The dude at the hotel caught me twice stealing wifi and twice turned if off! LOL! SO I found the cutest most bohemian coffee shop, but their wifi didn't work. So now I am at Starfcucks.
Anyway, all day dreaming of Porl. Porl, text me, please. I am in need.
Well, I am off... why does this pathetic, fakey world of interacting with people I am trapped on a planet with have to constantly interfere with my *real* life. Meh... burn it all to the ground!
Cat, darling, if only I could have been there with you...
I've been intensely and inappropriately bummed all day. I'm all boo-hoo-woe-is-me -- it's quite pathetic. I'll get over it though. The spell wore off and I'm back irl. *sigh*
T-dork: I am so sorry you are bummed. I really can't complain. Even if I didn't have MSG on Friday, I would feel more than fulfilled. I have seen 12 hours of Cure shows and witnessed a vast variety of songs, from Figurehead to the Kiss to the Faith encore and so many delicious others. I have stood close to the stage at every show and gazed into Robert's dreamy magical eyes. I have ogled Porl in tight leather pants scorching away on his guit. I have drooled over Simon's wee wee in his PHTs. I have been mesmerized by Jason's drumming!
I have been a very lucky person this summer. One I will never forget. I wish more of you could have shared it with me, and I am so glad you and I, T, got to share that magical Florida show and the infamous erotic Bob/Si smooch. HOT HOT HOT!
I'll stop wallowing in self-pity soon enough. I'd be a lot quicker to do that if Craig would tell us that there's reason to hope for another tour in the not-so-distant future.
Yes, Craig, that is way more than a subtle hint. If there is reason to be of good cheer, and if you can say something without violating a promise to a source, I think we'd all be very thankful for even a modest tidbit.
Hi 7bluestars---I'm feeling the self-pity myself. The last few shows have been incredible! Not to say that the shows I seen in Philly & Chicago were not memorable! To me they were perfect, I just want to see more!
I so much want to go to the NYC shows but cannot make it. But I look forward to being on the COF Friday & Saturday Night.
I've gotten beyond being a sullen crone-child; going to my figure drawing class tonight left me diverted and grounded; being creative is almost always a good tonic, and so it was tonight. The spell is gone, and so are its aftereffects. :-)
The UTS vid also helped, as will getting the record and, if we're lucky, a release of the Charlotte show.
Craig, I feel rather like an annoying insect, flitting in and asking questions, but I'd still like to know if you think that we'll get a tour, limited or otherwise, around the time the record is released. I'm not at all confident that it will happen; I say that because Robert seems to be the only one who is really, really into performing. I'm thinking that the others just want to get the fuck home to their families. Perhaps I'm full of shit. If so, please advise.
wow, but I would love to have this on DVD... Blu-Ray... VHS... I'll buy whatever equipment I need. Fantastic! :)
I got some pics of the show if you guys are interested. Just me and my little camera... nothing fantastic, but good memories for me. :) www.schmakt.com
Tx, Craig. I'm guessing that there will not be a full tour, but perhaps a few shows in major markets. Okay, that's enough ersatz soothsaying on my part, at least for the time being. ;-)
7bluestars---Well it's good to see you out of the funk! So you're taking a life drawing class. Sounds interesting. My sister is an artist but she never liked the life drawing classes. Maybe she wasn't into drawing nude people??? LOL!
Two weeks from now, I'll be taking a fused glass class for 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to it. It will help me keep my mind busy learning something new.
kitty, I must admit that the first time we drew nudes, I was a bit nervous; I feared getting caught glancing at someone's bits (which of course we had to draw). Fortunately, I was fine after the first session, and now, it's just part of the routine. My course was 4 nights per week for 6 weeks; our last class is tomorrow night, and I'm already in mourning. :-(
Your class sounds like a gas. Can't wait to hear how it goes!
"We all promise to buy 10 copies each. : )" Well said, Craig!
ReplyDeleteROBERT, WE DEFINITELY WILL DO. PLEEEEEASE? YOU KNOW WE NEED IT!
I will buy a gazillion copies and eat them all so I can ingest the awesomeness of this show.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it will at least be aired on Cure TV?
ReplyDeletenewsflash: CureTV ain't happenin'. Bobby will forget about it altogether.
ReplyDeleteOR NOT... HINT HINT ROBERT.
My guess is that it will be mixed with the Paris show to release a double DVD live of the 4Tour, as Paris was missing a critical mass of new songs, they're now in the box !
ReplyDeleteA mix of the European and US leg of the tours makes sense !
(And yes, I'll buy a couple of this too !)
Cat...if they broadcast the Carlotte show, I will be mortified! Screaming, sweaty and 13 years old again?
ReplyDeleteAnd Greg (bf) was like, "Oh yeah, and it's in HD, so your armpit will be all up close!"
Uggg!
<3333
LOL...
LOL Anah... I know. Remember they filmed us shrieking like giddy fangirls on X, and we said immediately afterwards how embarrassed we would be.
ReplyDeleteOH WELL! PRICE we pay for being Cure-dorks!
I'm just glad we got to share the last part of the show together. GAWD.
ReplyDeleteIt was perfect. The looks Porl and then Robert gave us, so awesome. I mean, you know-being a life long fan...I don't regret acting like a dork at all!
ReplyDeleteAnd I keep thinking ...
"We'll always have Charlotte"
i'd buy 2 copies.
ReplyDelete10 copies? No problem! So release it without editing. Pleeeeeseee!
ReplyDeleteI'll take 10++++++++++ and then some more!!!!!!!!!! Would be nice not to have to wait too long to view and listen!!!!
ReplyDeleteHell.... I'll buy 20 copies if it means seeing that show.
ReplyDeleteTo clockwise cat:

ReplyDeleteAmazing show! I do truly hope that the footage sees the light of day at some point. :)

ReplyDeleteYes, this can be the Cure's first Blu-ray release!
ReplyDeleteWe need High Definition Cure goodness!!
also Trilogy, Show, In Orange, etc. etc. etc. etc. !!!! :P
I don't care what format it is in.... I just want it... ASAP!!!
ReplyDeleteCat:
ReplyDeleteThe complete Faith encore, including Holy Hour, was playd in the second show in Mexico on Oct 21st.
jupiter: LOL - thank you. :-)
ReplyDeleteb43: yes, i did know that. mexico always gets the best shows! and deservedly so. i might go down there next time they play that country. it's my favorite place ever.
Cat - I said it in the Charlotte blog, but I'll say it again.
ReplyDeleteYour review was fucking fantastic. Not quite the same as being there, but pretty damn close!

Cat - don't worry about shrieking like a freak - how cool if it was immortalised forever!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen The Holy Hour came up on COF - holy crap - I was sooooo excited for you. To then get the whole Faith encore - mindblowing.
You rock girl! I hope it has been recorded, you will look like a true fan! Better than someone sitting in their seat cos it's not JLH!

ReplyDeleteWe'll give her the benefit of the DOUBT then. Maybe she was sick..... and they did let you go in front, so they must be good people.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to win the lottery tonight so I could meet you in NYC, but alas, it was not to be.
Time for me to go to bed now, and imagine myself in Charlotte.
Seriously, FAITH!!!!! Fuck me!!!!
elise - LOL! you rule, sister! can't wait to meet you one day!!
ReplyDeleteOH! and i saw that craig said fuck me and everyone when he saw the faith encore... LOL LOL LOL

ReplyDelete10 copies? Okay, I'll go ahead and buy 10 copies. In fact, you might even hear me saying, "I liked the DVD so much, I bought the company"
ReplyDelete(or is everybody else too young to remember that cheesy commercial...Its right up there with "rich Corrrrrrrrinthian leather" in classic commercials)
Jeopardy, that would be the perfect name for a DVD out of the Charlotte concert! Me likes.
ReplyDeletemarc- i'd buy bluerays by the ton, but there's not a reliable PLAYER yet, save for the ps3. and i don't care about ps3. i think december they'll be rolled out- maybe?

Dun ta duunnnn!

ReplyDeleteYou guys are effing hilarious!
Maree:
ReplyDeleteWell, you should have seen us last night. If I wasnt wearing a skirt, I swear I would've jumped that fence in front of the stage.
Well, I am off... why does this pathetic, fakey world of interacting with people I am trapped on a planet with have to constantly interfere with my *real* life. Meh... burn it all to the ground!

Yes, Craig, that is way more than a subtle hint. If there is reason to be of good cheer, and if you can say something without violating a promise to a source, I think we'd all be very thankful for even a modest tidbit.
Well, if the album does good (and from the sound of the singles so far it will) they'll be back soon enough.
ReplyDelete*I hope anyway*
An HDNET TV concert special to be aired in September to coincide with the release of the new album.
