4:13 Dream live on tv?

Robert has posted another of his cryptic hints on the official site.

A 4:13 DREAM...
9/27/2008 6:31:14 PM - by CURE:ROBERT

PERFORMING THE NEW ALBUM LIVE FOR AN HOUR ON TV BEFORE IT GETS RELEASED...CAN IT HAPPEN?

Can I get an "Oh hell yes!"? And what's that photo that RS posted? It has to be a hint.

Update: V and I have put our heads together, and the always brilliant V has deduced that the RS image is a somewhat altered version of the MTV logo. Why do we think this? Check out the bottom of the RS image. See the tops of those letters? We are pretty sure it says MUSIC T. Now look at that official MTV logo. Notice the placing of the letters? Look at where the T is. Right below the "door". Same as in the RS image. We could be wrong, but we are both satisfied for now. If this tv show happens, Robert seems to be hinting that it would air on MTV. Case closed. : )

Lol and Michael interview

As mentioned a few months ago, Lol Tolhurst and Michael Dempsey taped a tv appearance on May 6th, for a tv show called Focus In The Mix. And now, I've posted video clips from the show on Vimeo. If you'd rather just download them, here you go. (Thanks to Maria for the files!)
Update: My original Vimeo account with the files has been removed, but you can still watch it on YouTube - Part 1 / Part 2. (Thanks notherbob)

And if you missed it below, I posted a photo of the Lol interview from Mojo. (Thanks Jean-Francois)

Vote for Robert

"NME is currently hosting a Vote for the Greatest Front Person of All Time! You just have to go through their list of all front people to find Robert, while voting for each one along the way on a scale of Worst to Best." (Thanks Darrell)

Update: Here's a short cut. Click here to automatically vote 10 for Robert. (Thanks Brad)

UTS on Piano!

Underneath The Stars on piano! To Wish Impossible Things, too! (Thanks DJ scribbles)

Update: Fuschia Sometimes also has a piano version of UTS (but he calls it We Could Drift Away).

Lance Bass dances to Cure cover

"On last night's Dancing with the Stars, Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer did the quick step to Close to Me!" (Thanks elion, Toni, Jeff and Michael)

New Lol interview in Mojo

Update: Here's a photo of the article. (Thanks Jean-Francois)

"The latest edition of UK music magazine Mojo (Queen on the cover) has a full page diary-style confessional by Lol Tolhurst. It's VERY candid and he speaks honestly and sincerely about his relationship with Robert and the problems that led to his dismissal from the band.

He says that when the band listened to the finished mix of "Disintegration" he'd been drinking, and said half of it sounded like The Cure and the other half he hated. After more drinks he then told the rest of the band that he hated all of it. Lol explains, what he actually meant was that he hated the fact that he hadn't been more involved in the making of the album.

There are some really touching comments throughout the article, and he even refers to his stupidity in taking the band to court. I stumbled across this purely by chance, as I was waiting for a train, reading the magazines at the station - a nice surprise." (Thanks Graham)

Posted some new tattoos for Chris, Alex, and thedrowningman.

Cure mention in Rolling Stone

From the Rolling Stone Fall Music Preview (#1062, 10/02/08):

The Cure - 4:13 Dream (10/28)
"I like the sound of deadlines as they rush past my head", says Cure frontman Robert Smith, explaining why his album has been two years in the works. Now, after a massive world tour, Smith has met his deadline. The Cure's latest has the same gloriously gloomy vibe as the band's Eighties discs - one song, "Sleep When I'm Dead" was originally written for 1985's The Head on the Door. Smith's new lyrics, however, take on current events. "I'm trying to be a bit more socially aware," says Smith. "I've always been very careful to shy away from that, but the songs are about things that bother me in a global sense."
(Thanks Paul K. and Dayna)

13 Impossible Words

Rev. Heron has posted another interesting article, 13 Impossible Words. (Thanks Rev)

Curedrink 2008

The next Curedrink will take place on Sept. 27th at 9pm.

CDJapan lies! L.I.E.S....

Robert sets the record straight (again!) at the official site, and hints at ?

190908 UPDATE:

I WROTE "IT WILL BE THE SAME EVERYWHERE (AAAAAH... JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS?!!)" AND IT WILL!

13 TRACKS (54:32?) E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E...ON CD, VINYL AND ONLINE

(ALTHOUGH SOMETHING OF A PROBLEM WITH THE VINYL ART AT PRESENT AS IT APPEARS TMU'S FAVOURED PRINTERS 'CAN'T PRINT COLOUR INSIDE BAGS'...LEADING ME TO WONDER WHY THEY WOULD BE A RECORD COMPANY'S FAVOURED PRINTERS... ??? ANYWAY... )

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF ONLINE RETAILERS SUGGESTING VARIOUS OTHER VERSIONS WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE...

BUT THEY ARE MISINFORMED! AND I AM HOPING THAT (GIVEN THE USUAL FEW WEEKS) THEY WILL REMOVE THEIR ERRONEOUS SUGGESTIONS...

REST ASSURED THEY ARE BEING PRESSURED TO GET IT RIGHT...THIS JUST IN FROM TMU: Our Japan office confirms that they have told their contacts that there is just the one tracklisting for the album and have asked for incorrect info to be expeditiously removed.

AND NEXT UP IS...

Thank you Robert!

Update: Wow, that was quick! CDJapan has removed the "Deluxe Edition". And for some reason, they've removed the "Regular Edition", too. Amazon (Japan) has removed it, too.

Bunch of articles, nothing new

"Looks like the Cure is getting news coverage from Robert's rants. Some of them are quite funny. No new news, though"

Undercover / Strangeglue / Spinner / Nymag / Digital Spy / Electricpig /Angry Ape / Showbiz Spy / Gigwise / Pocket Lint / Music Radar / Idolator

The Clarion (about The Glove)
Vancouver Sun (Hypnagogic States Review)

(Thanks Kate)

"I was looking at Huffington Post today and noticed a story about goth style. So of course since they were talking about goth, a picture of Robert was thrown in. Funny thing is that it links to the original NY Times story and there is no mention of Robert of The Cure. Go figure." (Thanks Chrissy)

Six extra tracks for Japan? This is false!

We know Robert said the album would be the same everywhere, but could TMU have other plans? CDJapan is claiming to have a "limited edition deluxe version" of 4:13 Dream that will include 6 bonus tracks. Here's what they say:

"Thirteenth full-length album from The Cure featuring 13 new tracks. Limited edition deluxe version features 6 additional unreleased tracks plus the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD players)(details subject to change). Bonus Track: Japan-only bonus track (subject to change)"

Is this just some made up nonsense, or will Robert have to write yet another e-mail to TMU?

Update: CD Universe and Amazon (Japan) say 6 bonus tracks, too. (Thanks Matteo)

Update: Robert confirms that there will NOT be any extra tracks in Japan, nor anywhere else! Thank you Robert!

Cure Videography

There's a new Cure Videography airing on MTV, and you can now watch it online at MTV Italy! Must be a mistake, so watch it while you can. : ) The special is 13 Cure videos in 22 minutes, with commentary from Robert. Hahaha, Robert is so hard on some of the videos! : )

We really need a complete video collection on DVD and Blu-Ray, with commentary from the entire band, current Cures and ex-Cures. And put the various bits from SATS and Picture Show as extras. Please, Robert? : )

Odds and Ends

Hypnagogic States gets 2 out of 5 stars from Allmusic. (Thanks Monkeybutt)

Some new articles at Undercover, Chart Attack, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Stereogum and Jam! Showbiz (who seem to think TMU stands for The Men Upstairs instead of The Mighty U! Ha!). (Thanks Sofia, Clockwise Cat, and Marc)

"The Perfect Boy Remix by FOB got a number 3 spot in the Rolling Stone Editor's Picks for Song of the Week." (Thanks Darrell)
