This is absolutely unexpected... but funny.
ReplyDeleteRobert listen music of all kinds...
:)
I love you, Robert, but that music is awful.
ReplyDeleteMotown is freakin' awesome!! Especially the Jackson Five, but I love 'em all. How could you not?
ReplyDeleteABC is ace.
The things HE does for TMU...if only it was reciprocal....
ReplyDeleteI knew that Jimmy Mac in spired soem of the sound for Close To Me.
ReplyDeleteNU-UH. motown is awesome. some people just cant hear that!
ReplyDeleteSurprised no Sweet Talking Guy by The Chiffons. It was used as outro to In orange.
ReplyDeleteNot exactly what I would have picked as my Motown Favorites but still it's cool RS likes a variety of different music!
ReplyDeleteAnd why would anyone think Robert wouldn't like this stuff. It's classic music and cool too!!!
We are not meant to constrict ourselves to one type of music. To do so would be absurdly provincial. We don't have to like all types of music, but certainly we can appreciate flexibility in musical tastes? I have never understood when people express surprise that so and so likes such and such.
ReplyDeleteNot being rude, btw, just wondering aloud...
Yay for eclectic tastes! Whee! :^D

ReplyDeleteOne of the things that makes the Cure's music so deep and multi faceted (as well as just downright good) is their massive range of influences and Robert and co's wide and eclectic taste in music (as well as art, poetry, books etc)
ReplyDeleteI agree PJW. Well said. Did you see my comment back to you in the video topic? :-)
ReplyDeleteoh yay, PJW, you have a profile now!
ReplyDeleteas i said in the video topic thingy... send me some pics of your artwork. my webzine is hankering for art submissions, and the fact that yours are cure-inspired makes it that much more desirable. :-)
ps just to be on topic: i think some people discount the influence motown has had. i can easily discern motown sounds in a variety of songs. the same can be said for country music. but i digress...
um, ok.
ReplyDeletewhat is it good for?
ReplyDeleteCheers to Robert!
ReplyDeleteI could imagine him dancing and singing Jackson 5's "ABC" in a sqeaky voice to himself at home. lol
ok we need a petition for a cure motown ep...a set of 4 maybe followed by a remix ep.
ReplyDeleteThe Supremes were so good! Motown were so influential, it's hard to believe that people would dismiss it...
