LOVE IT! "FEEL THE FLUX YOUNG JEDI". :)
ReplyDeleteFeel the flux indeed! I guess we shouldn't complain about having so little time to make travel plans, when he's having to organize a whole concert and all the filming details and everything that goes with it!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU Robert and all the Cure people and staff for pulling this amazing show together so fast, and for filming it for those that can't be there! We love you! See you soon!
LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is getting GIDDY you can tell.
Oh ROBERT we can’t wait to see you and boys play again! It will be awesome!
"feel the flux young Jedi!"
ReplyDeletethis might have made my day right here x] oh Robert :P
hahaha
ReplyDeleteI love it when he's like this! All playful and happy. How can he not be? He sees us all going insane this week, so he knows we love them. : )
ReplyDeleteHannah: Totally agree! I will say that forever now. Star Wars will never be the same. : )
ReplyDeleteGreat !!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe MAN has spoken!
I really hope the Reflection shows gives them lots of energy to make big future plans.
Is just me or someone posted here that he'd maybe forgotten his password and today Smith wrote about that.
Is a sign that HE DOES READ COF?
Craig?
:D
"The Flux is strong with this one!"
ReplyDelete"Use The Flux, Luke!"
"May The Flux be with you. Always."
: )
he must be bemused that the fans managed to take down the sydney operah house website ;)
ReplyDeletei'd feel chuffed too!
too damned close to oprah!
ReplyDeletei apologize if anyone was traumatized.

ReplyDeleteAnd old joke from less joyful days on CoF:
ReplyDeleteCure Wars: Revenge of the Smith. : )
I need to mention that is sooo good to me that Robert mixed The CURE with the movies i like the most.
ReplyDeleteThe CURE Kingdom Strikes Back..
More blogger weirdness? My flux comment disappeared?
ReplyDeleteGuys, I know I don't have to say this, but given his comments about seeing how the shows go before making other plans, SHOW THEM THE LOVE IN SYDNEY!!! : )
ReplyDeletehaha! may the flux be with you.... brilliant :D
ReplyDeletethere's nothing left... but flux... x]
Heron: Sigh...I hope not! But they are still working on it, so probably a few more bumps in the road ahead.
ReplyDeleteCraig: No, it's just me being dense (DOH!) it's on the previous post, I thought I posted it here. *slaps forehead*
ReplyDeleteHeh, forgotten password!
ReplyDeleteif robert reeds this blog maybe my chances are still alive that he will contact me concerning the vienna opera as a location for a follow up to the sydney opera gigs. The opera is nearly empty durning july and august. come on give it a thought;-)))
ReplyDeleteYes! V was just suggesting to me that they should do a full opera house tour. I'm all for that! But they better be prepared to play at least 3-4 nights in some spots, to meet the ticket demand. : )
ReplyDelete...and to amortize the lease costs;-)
ReplyDeleteGOD I HOPE ROBERT WASNT BEING A STAR WARS GEEK...HE IS TO BRILLIANT AND I LOVE HIM TOO MUCH TO TOLEARTE THAT.....YIKES!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he'll be heartbroken by that. Geek on, Robert! And start watching Doctor Who! Cooler and British. And I'm sure Matt Smith is a fan. : )
ReplyDeleteIt IS brilliant to have some Star Wars in there. If he adds to that anything re Lord of the Rings, I'll go fruit loops.
ReplyDeletehmm, Disney Concert Hall in LA is quite impressive ;o)
I love the "opera house" idea! Me, being a Battlestar Galactica freak, imagines the opera house on that show. LOL.
ReplyDeleteDamn, Lord of the Rings, Battlestar, I love you guys! : )
ReplyDeleteOh shit!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethis gives me hope! I hope he'll see that this could be a great experience for not only the band but the fans worldwide!
I literally jumped out in joy!
Robert! Do it!
Please!
Let this 22 year old Cure fan from Los Angeles who can't afford to travel to Sidney see this show live!
Andy: They really should stop in LA on the way back, right? Take a break from the long flights, play a few shows, then travel on. : )
ReplyDeleteI have a toy R2-D2 that lights up, and in 97 the band found it very amusing especially Simon, and all the guys except roger played with the R2 and laughed, and smiled... it was great! Perry even tried to take it from me.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite Cure memories. I had that toy with me, because I knew Robert loves Star Wars.
I love that story so much, CV!
ReplyDeleteI miss Perry so much. Such a sweet and wonderful guy.
You should have let Perry have it, CV! : )
ReplyDeleteLord of the Rings > everything else...just saying!
ReplyDeleteInteresting that he said a month ago Reflections wasn't happening, weird!
Craig, I told Perry no way, that was my good luck charm. He then asked me where it came from, I said Toys "R" Us, maybe he got one. When you press the droids belly, he would light up and make R2 sounds.
ReplyDeleteThis happened at the release for Galore, Virgin Mega Store. I did give the band gifts, all thier favorite alcoholic drinks. I think this secured my spot for the secret show in Hollywood the next night. #'s 5 and 6 of my close encounters with The Cure out of 10.
The Cure Forever!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm betting there's a good chance we'll hear Forever in Sydney. : )
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that Robert hasn't thought of this already, but is clear he should really come and play Reflections in my back yard, its very park light and he could do one of his adorable squints and pretend he was somewhere exotic.....Ill have plenty of lager and he can spend the night signing every thing i have of theres....oh
ReplyDeletedoes anyone think the star wars reference might be a subtle link to the fact that reflections and star wars are from the same era?
ReplyDeleteThe talk of 'flux'. Is that still a reference to the current line-up (or lack thereof)?
ReplyDeleteFuck flux
No Ange, Robert is just a hudge Star Wars fan.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the deleted scenes of episode 2 attack of the clones, the Bloodflowers line up of The Cure play the band in the night club where Obi Wan, and Aniken chase the bounty hunter. The scene was cut shorter because the band did not fit in with the story. you cant tell its them except for Robert, the rest of the band had alien type make up.
Just kidding, it was back street boys, they played Jedi in the battle scene, per George Lucas'es daughter... and they were cut out, it was too silly.
ReplyDelete'The flux is strong with this one'
ReplyDelete"BUT THEN LAST MONTH I THOUGHT BESTIVAL WAS GOING TO BE THE FIRST CURE SHOW OF THE YEAR!!!" he does not say was going to be the only cure show...if first, there is a second and a third? no? I still hope for a autumn tour in middle/central europe!
ReplyDeleteWhat about dropping by Japan on the way to England, Robert?
ReplyDeleteMany Japanese fans want to see the "Reflectons" show but can't make it. My friends I are just a few lucky ones.
We are eagerly waiting for your shows.
Oh Robert, I love you! :)
ReplyDeleteEuropean tour...? Please please please please please...
This weeks Dr Who is easily the best of the series in my opinion. I also think its one of the best single episodes ever.
ReplyDeleteI'm not at all surprised, Andrew. Gaiman is such a brilliant writer. Can't wait to watch it. Just hope my hotel connection is fast enough for downloading. : )
ReplyDeleteIN lieu of an entire tour... How about a few Reflections shows in cool locations... Red Rocks anyone???
ReplyDeleteCraig, FYI, perry is happily married now (roger and jason were at the wedding), and is raising horses (his wife actually won the wolverhampton race.
ReplyDeletePerry is very content these days and workign on new music witht he drummer from placebo...more news to come once he tells me.
Yeah, I know, Birdmad. Still miss him, though. But so glad that he's happy these days. Such an incredibly nice guy.
ReplyDeletejimhb: Red Rocks is a must!!!
ReplyDeleteAndrew: Got it download, will watch a bit later.
yeah perry has been a great friend to me throught the years..he said me might go to bestival....i know his wife is as she has never seen the cure live...he said he might go not sure yet...he'd probably rather be fishing ha!
ReplyDeleteI just hope they show the carnage visors movie and play splintered in her head !!!
ReplyDeleteI just hope they play the Carnage visors Movie at break from 17 Seconds. I also hope they play descent and Splintered in her head !! Splintered is one of the best cure songs ever. Too cool to be ingnored for over 20 years !!
ReplyDeleteMy my this here Anakin guy
ReplyDeleteMaybe Vader someday later
Now he's just a small fry
He left his home
And kissed his mommy goodbye
Sayin'
"Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi"
"Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi"
Swifty, that was brilliant. My friend wrote a hai-ku in my year book that said:
ReplyDeleteLightsaber battle
Obi Wan vs. Darth Mal
Chop him in half bitch
Best signature ever

ReplyDeleteBefore Han was frozen in carbonite, Lea said "I love you", Han replied "I know"
ReplyDeleteIn 89 at Dodger stadium I said to Robert "I love you", Robert said "I know"
I lone this memory. But not till this morning I connected it to Star Wars.

ReplyDeleteThe flux, per twitter from Roger O'Donnell, is a reference to Back to the Future's flux capacitor. It means we are going back to the future on 5/31 & 6/1.
ReplyDeleteI was listening to Three Imaginary Boys last night, and I can't believe the are going to perform the following songs in a row: "Another Day, Object, Subway Song, Foxy Lady, Meat Hook, and So What."
It's going to be incredible. Honestly, I don't know how they are going to pull this off. Has Robert ever sung "So What?" and "Doubt" in the last 25 years?
the real question is: will he discard the shecters for this show??
ReplyDeleteI hope and would think so...
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of The Doctors Wife Craig?
ReplyDeleteagreed with mike, "so what" live is going to be a bizarre experience to say the least... wouldn't it be nice to get a fast and furious sonic assault in the first set? to be seen...
ReplyDeleteI think you're fairly safe there Sofia...
ReplyDelete:)
Craig, loved the new DW episode. I thought it was much better than the last one, it was creepy and hilarious and just very Doctory and I loved it a lot :)
ReplyDeleteDear Robert,
ReplyDeletePlease clic on 'forgot your password?' when needed (more often , that is) and go!
You said it, Craig! Geek on, Robert!!!
ReplyDeleteHey guys. I'm flying home from Chicago this afternoon and will get caught up on everything later tonight. I don't expect to have any more ticket offers today, but a possible charity auction for a June 1st ticket. Not sure when that will start, but not before 9pm central US time.
ReplyDeleteHave had a great time in Chicago, despite the awful weather, and loved the Elvis Costello show last night. More fun than I think I've ever had at a concert.
But now it's time to get home and get focused on Reflections again. : )
craig, i saw your uploads on the youtube page. looks like it was a great night! i wonder if he ever plays anything from 'brutal youth'?
ReplyDeleteSofia: Yes he does! He played Rocking Horse Road last night, and Clown Strike at the show before mine. He also plays Pony St., Sulky Girl, You Tripped At Every Step, and Kinder Murder, semi-regularly.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Entreat Plus on vinyl through Rhino? I checked tonight and the website shows it, but it goes to empty page....I am starting to believe this release ain't happening....
ReplyDeleteand we can forget about Paris 2008 on dvd I guess...
ReplyDeleteMike: I updated the post about that date from Rhino, a couple of weeks ago. As you see, they've removed any mention of it again. So we go back to it being canceled or indefinitely delayed once again. No one at WEA or Rhino seems to have a straight answer about it.
ReplyDeleteFabien: From what I remember, someone said the company that held the rights to Paris 08, put it out there for anyone interested in it, but never found a company to buy it and produce it.
ReplyDeleteso no Bercy 08??? :(
ReplyDeleteThere's a great interview with Steven Pavolvic on how he got to set the Reflections shows up with Robert - worth clicking!
ReplyDeletehttp://sxnews.gaynewsnetwork.com.au/feature/light-music-ideas-008831.html
hacking the thread.
ReplyDeleteugh...i LOVE kinder murder! i've always felt that brutal youth was a criminally overlooked album. i'd love to see him live one day!
I guess this will be the first time "Doubt" will be played live!!! Anu other premiere? (weedy Burton!?)
ReplyDeletei am intrested in how "so what" will be sung or updated"
ReplyDeleteand if they do killing and arab,,,,if so plese not killing another..it takes aay fromt he whole meaning of the song just to appease the simle minded people who don't get it...
whatever happened to fuck the, if they don't get it..
sorry for the typos...
ReplyDeletei am excited about "doubt"!
and wonder if foxy lady will make it on he set list :P and who will sing it
Ha! U'ne been saying for years that I would love to hear So What? live!!!
ReplyDeleteand will they include the out-takes like World War and CD inclusions like Winter?
