SOH subscriber pre-sale on now!

Update: Subscribers to QPAC, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, in Brisbane are also getting a pre-sale right now!
(Thanks Damon)

From Grinderman: "Just nabbed my tickets in the exclusive Super Presale! See you guys there! People who are paid subscribers to the Opera House get advance-advance presale. Very limited tickets; no way to access it without being a paid subscriber. It's not worth joining for one show; it's quite pricey. They only release a very limited number of tickets too. You're still more likely to get better seats in general presale or general sale. Very, very limited were available in all sections. I can't say for certain, but after presale goes on sale tomorrow, I'd say that between a quarter to a half of all tickets will be gone. Both nights were available. The best seats went within the first minute or two, and the rest sold out in the first 10 minutes. But it seems that they've released a second wave of tickets in the last few minutes.

Congratulations, Grinderman, Dane, and Damon!

  1. Grinderman, what seats did you get??
I wonder if they will save some good seats (stalls) for the general public presale?

  2. I already booked my flight to Australia. I have to get a ticket for each night!!!

  3. Wow, tickets are pretty much all gone. Glad I joined the membership and got my 2.

  4. I got very good seats for the first night; I don't want to say the seat numbers, but I'm between the 6th and 12th row, equidistant between the centre and the aisle. Good luck to the rest of you on tickets tomorrow and the day after!

  5. Wow, well done.
I'm really worried about getting a ticket and I live in Australia!
There are literally thousands more people wanting tickets than seats available.
I don't like this idea of buying as many tickets as possible to sell later, just think of getting your own tickets and let everyone have a shot!

  6. Yeah, I actually agree with that Damon. Though I sure can't speak for the friends who I bought tickets for.

Oh, and the ticketing system was a little different: you couldn't pick your own seat, you could only say which section/price you wanted, and you were given the seats that were considered the "best seats available". I can't say for sure if this will be different or the same for general sale though. And presale was 4 tickets per account, but again i'm not sure if general sale will be different or not.

  7. yep Damon, it's gonna really really suck to have this in our backyard (for once!!) and potentially miss out...anyway, positive thinking right...will try our best tomorrow...kinda hard to take that there's only 2000 seats and probably half already gone allocated to comps, corporate, members, friends in the know etc etc...wtf!!

  8. ps: no disrespect to members, they pay their money...remove them from that list!! but everyone else still in the grr list!

  10. Damon: That would be great in an ideal world, but let's face it, every single person buying tickets will most likely get the max of 4 allowed.

Whether it's fans who are buying for friends (and I don't know if there's any Cure fan that doesn't know at least 3 other people who want tickets), or scalpers, or just your average concertgoer who knows they can put them up on ebay and make a fortune from them.

It would be wonderful if everyone just bought the least amount that they need and left the rest for others, but you know that isn't going to happen. I'd rather see the fans buy them up, and then sell (at face value I would hope) whatever they don't need to other fans.

No matter what happens, I'm sure a lot of fans are going to be left out, and that's horrible, but what can you do?

I do agree that fans who are not actually going to the shows should not buy any of the tickets to sell later. They risk being stuck with tickets that they can't transfer to anyone else, and costing other fans a chance of going.

  11. Grinder: Thanks again for all of the info and help. Yeah, I was told that it's a limit of 4 per person. Not sure if that only applies to the pre-sale or the general sale as well.

And I do sincerely sympathize with all of the Australian fans who are worried about this. It's a bad situation all around, but it's what we've been given, so let's hope as many fans who want to go, get to go.

  12. Grinderman or Dane: Do either of you know how many tickets were allocated for the subscriber presale? Were they available in all sections or just one area?

  13. And congratulations to Dane, too!

I got a ticket between the 4th and 7th row centre on the first night!
Of all places, tickets were offered to me from a music venue I subscribe to in Brisbane, my home town!
    SO EXCITED!!! :)

  17. One more question. Were there tickets available for both nights or just one?

  19. I honestly think I got a great seat because I only bought 1 ticket.
If you are going to buy 4, be prepared to be pushed back...

  20. That is a good point, Damon. Better chance of getting up close with 1 or 2 vs 4.

Thanks, Grinderman. Should be an interesting couple of days.

  21. Craig: I got my ticket through being a subscriber to QPAC, Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
