ReplyDeleteHow long are these "soundstage" sets??
ReplyDeleteThe "dress code" completely cracks me up! Sure, it's for TV, but...
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Reading the word taping in conjonction with any kind of concert (Cure-related) always gets me excited, somehow.
ReplyDeleteHope it turns out to be something real.

ReplyDeletehello geri ;). Nice to see you here lol.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, interesting. Lucku, lucky Americans. I hope they come back to europe for a few shows after this.
Hi beau :D
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived at least in mainland North America :P Then I could probably afford travel to shows a lot more than I can right now...
hmm. interesting that this is the same city that the other thing I heard about was going to happen... Craig.
ReplyDeleteBrandon - You know more about it than I do. : )
ReplyDeleteV - If you go, you're our girl. : )
What is the other thing Brandon? Iam about 45 minutes South of Chicago..

ReplyDeleteIs this rumor true? I'd for sure would try to make this show! I'm on vacation that week and I live south of the city
ReplyDeletei already won the raffle.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could offer to the live reports - but we just know that aint gonna happen :(
ReplyDeleteyou know, i've been all over the united states but never chicago for some reason. how is the windy city? good town?
ReplyDeleteSofia - maybe this is a good time for you to find out!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I haven't been able to comment on your myspace group yet because they have a 7 day waiting period for newbies!!??!! I've joined, but can't join the chats
This true... They are doing a PBS taping.
ReplyDeleteJlove
PBS taping for what? "Frontline with The Cure."
ReplyDeleteAntiques Roadshow featuring Robert's 1989 hair
ReplyDeleteMasterpiece Theatre starring Robert Smith in King Lear
sofia- i used to live 90 min from Chicago and would go up there all the time. It is a great city!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone has a Bank of America Perks Advantage Credit Card, you can go online and place a bid on the tickets. No one has placed a bid yet but you have to use your Perks Advantage points. Here is the address: https://www.perksadvantage.com/index.html
ReplyDeleteI don't have a credit card so I can participate in the bid. Good luck!
For those close by..you may want to check this out before pkunking down $250:

The website was down...but I'm sure the tickets are free, like the late night shows.
I saw them on Late Night w/ Conan back in the day....and after the show was over, Robert hung out with the crowd and signed autographs until the NBC execs made him stop...but not until after I got my copy of BF signed.
Good luck to anyone trying to go...would love to be there.
elise, well it's nice enough seeing your pretty eyes for now :)
ReplyDeletei'd like to go but i just spent 36746363 trillion dollars on shows.
polvo, teenage jesus & the jerks, my bloody valentine, peter murphy. i'm broke!
I tried to bid on this but I keep getting an error message of "Quantity must be 0 or fewer". Huh? I'm confused!
ReplyDeleteaw shucks - thanks Sofia *blushes*
ReplyDeleteOnly 4 more days and I will be able to chat!
my boyfriend thinks ny trip is too "club america-y" and doesnt like it. but what are the odds they wont play it at our shows? pfft. zero.
ReplyDelete(i dont care either way. although i do think its one of their weakest b-sides ever).
incidentally, is this the first time that another song title is referenced in a song? i cant think of another...
Sofia, I'm pretty sure he's used the words "Lost", "Apart", "Never", "Open", "Gone", "High" and "Push" in other Cure songs...Heh, heh, I know I'm being a smart-ass :-)
ReplyDeleteBut he's also done "nights like this" in "Same Deep Water As You". Kinda close
I just get annoyed when he reuses phrases in multiple songs like "into the night" (Figurehead, Holy Hour, Charlotte Sometimes) or speaking of "worlds that never were" (Burn, The Drowning Man) or "another dream, another day" (Out of This World, The Promise)
dumb_anguish, ahem. uh...point well taken. i guess i just don't hear the phrase "stop dead" very often.
ReplyDeletewe'll call it coincidence.
generally i think robert has lost some of the lyrical prowess he once possessed. not that that's an unusual thing. i used to be able to write 50 page papers in a weekend and now it's hard to sometimes even complete a post on here :|
i'm very lucky to have a boyfriend just as cure-crazed as i am because for hours we do things like discuss how many times robert rhymes "old" with "cold" ;)
or what the emphasis is in sinking when he sings "so i trick myself like everybody else"
"well gee honey, i think it means he tricks himself like everybody tricks themselves and not that he tricks himself the way he tricks other people..."
oh, crazy people...
I'd love to bid but I know I wouldn't be able to make it if somehow I won. Damn I wish they could have done this when they were in Chicago a few weeks back. I was there!!! Chi-town is a great town too!
ReplyDeleteOh well at least we will get to see it on TV. Well I hope so! If any gets to go, have a great time!
I'm officially volunteering to do the live reports for this show :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go Rev!!! And you know what the Kittens want updates on!!!
ReplyDeleteAw that is great rev! Have an Awesome time! Chi-town is a great city!
ReplyDeleteThis is a dream come true....and yes, I live in Chicago! Good luck to everyone else praying for tickets!
