"Just called Security at Dodge Theatre – no professional cameras allowed, but personal ones are fine. Also, curfew is at 11 PM for the band." (Thanks Sara)
I don't expect any big setlist surprises tonight, Phoenix isn't exactly a place The Cure seem to give much thought to... They skipped it on the 2000 Dream Tour even!
Probably a very hits/pop oriented set tonight to appease the mostly casual Cure fan crowd there.
I'm section 4, row 32. My fave type seats. Why? Well they are literally the seats in front of the sound guy. Being in the audio industry this is my "sweet spot" for shows. You basically hear it like the sound guy does!
I dunno Tex, in 2004 they had a great set ending with Forever! They skipped us in 2000 cuz Las Vegas gave them a better offer, they are skipping Las Vegas this time around so go figure.
Texas, I am not sure we'll get totally screwed here. I saw them here for Prayer, Wish and WMS and they played full sets. Who knows though. I'm glad not to have to travel out of state this time ;)
Agreed on the out of state travel. I was in danger of missing my first Cure show since 1984 because I knew I wouldn't be leaving AZ this time around. Glad the put us itinerary after the cancellations!
2 hours till work ends, 4 till the show starts! Woohoo!
Can someone explain Phoenix time to me. You're mountain time, right? Then why are you two hours behind central time? It should be one hour. And how does Phoenix time relate to pacific time? I'm very confused. : )
Arizona is officially listed as Mountain time but we don't observe Daylight Savings Time. So right now we are aligned with Pacific time and in the winter we are aligned with Mountain. Make sense?
I am all for skipping the whole time-change nonsense, but I think you Phoenecians are keeping the wrong time. :) I'd much prefer to stay on Daylight Savings Time year-round!
(I know that it's a state-wide thing, not just a Phoenix thing, but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to use Phoenix's kick-ass demonym!)
half the staff of idealcopy.com will be there! first time i've seen the Cure outside of California and Vegas. fingers crossed that it's not going to be a "hits" show. i saw the ultimate singles show in 1997 in LA promoting Galore and that was plenty - every song was a single. I will be in Section 2 row 35 praying for rain. chris
Texastripper thank you for the karma! I hold you responsible for our great setlist! ;-)
Craig thanks for the nice words and for all you do for us fanatical Cure fans.
Only thing I regret (aside from my battery!) is that I didn't bring a recorder! I was worried about security and the truth is I could have driven a sherman tank in there! The Octogenarians working security did not check or frisk anyone! DAMMIT! Oh well, spilt milk, move on...
This has to be the longest work day, EVER! Can't concentrate. Cure on the brain...
ReplyDeleteYeah DITTO!
ReplyDeleteJerry D- where are your seats tonight? I see you are the official 'reporter' for COF. What fun!

Onto Texas !!!
In fact wouldn't surprise me to set a parred down, 25 song set, only the big hits , etc.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Phoenix will get lucky and get 2 encores.
Sorry lived there for many years, and every time The Cure came it was a watered down setlist. Didn't see them their in 2004.

Well we'll see, I wish I could go to the Radio City Music Hall show in New York...
ReplyDeleteLast night of the tour, sold out, you know they will pull out some real treasures for that one!!
Good luck to Phoenix tonight, I hope they give you more than the boring hits.
Texas- I hope so too!

ReplyDeleteIf you have access to the band, please tell them to play the Disentegration encore. kthxbye.

Hey Chris! Hope you guys get a great show tonight. We'll be here, following along with Jerry's live updates.
ReplyDeleteOk, Kittens... home from work. Get our drink on. Rearing up for some good old PHT action. Yippee!
ReplyDeleteTerm - you should send live photos. : )
ReplyDeleteWell, my husband is the camera/ I.T. guy, so tell me where to have him forward them. I'll aim for the nether regions. LOL I AM a dork!
ReplyDeleteWell, I was just kidding, but if you get any shots (not just pht), you can just send them to my e-mail if your phone allows that.
ReplyDeletethanks, Craig. i think this will be my 13th Cure show so it's gotta be lucky.
ReplyDeleteOk. I know I can't just take crotch shots. Maybe one or two of Robert and Porl too.
ReplyDeleteTexas stripper - ha! what say you now?
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you Jerry, Chris and Terminal!
