I almost had arrythmia when i saw what shoes porl was wearing. BLACK AND WHITE SPECTATORS!!!! *falls to the floor in a dead faint* those are my favorite.
simon looks hot as he always does, anyone notice the long ribbon tied to his bass? are those fur pom poms on our gorgeous tousled robert? LOLz! jason hair is caught up in the lights handsomely:)
but the best version of TOO will always be the first one :P
I really liked this version of TOO, but I must admit I found it difficult to concentrate on the song rather than the pompoms on Robert's top. WTH was that!?
I was hoping for a bit of banter with the band in the Green Room, but no such luck.
I'm thinking that that fur accented jacket thing was a gift. It's funny because from the back it looks almost like a regular hoodie; the fur looks like it's lining the hood? What's also funny is that I had a dream a few nights ago where Robert decided to come out on stage completely dressed as a woman! Women’s heels and all. XD I love that he does whatever the hell he feels like; as long as he feels comfortable, that's all that matters. doh, I just adore him no matter what he wants to look like...
re JS: I thought there was a short interview/chat before or after the performance? I guess not?
I grow weary of people getting worked up about Robert's weight. He's an artist. It really shouldn't matter what his weight is, as it has no conceivable bearing on how well he writes songs, sings, or plays the guitar. Psst... Cure-fans, we of all people are not supposed to be shallow, if I'm not mistaken. I for one think he looks wonderful and will be happy if I look that good at 50.
i was thinking about that thing that Jeff K said about us curefans are not supossed to be shallow, and maybe its called generalizing but i think he's right in a way. if someone made a profile of the common curefan i think most of us would fit in it. i find it quite interesting.
robert's had a good relationship with jonathan ross since mr ross defended robert's image on jukebox jury in 1990. robert was on the following week reviewing the singles...
I think Robert takes care of himself as good as any regular joe, meaning that it's pretty hard to keep fit and healthy nowadays, what with all the bad food around and our overall lazyness in a world that delivers everything on a platter... Just imagine, it's hard enough when you are NOT rich!
Seriously it's a society problem (age doesn't help, sure but still)... Fat fighters unite!
Sorry, am I the only one that was embarrassed for them at how bad that performance was?! :S This comes from a die-hard Cure fan btw. Also if anyone saw Morrissey the week before, that was also quite bad. I don't know if it has anything to do with the sound or if Robert and Moz were both out of breath. Might just be the way it was mic-ed up. Thoughts?
It's not shallow to make observations that Robert Smith seems to have gained alot more weight. The Cure, and many bands are aware of image, and quite frankly the cure have always been appearance driven, think of large hair, distinct clothing, and of course the red lipstick. Many people got into the Cure because of appearance, so it is not terrible to post obvious appearance things, such as, I really don't like Porl's high heeled shoes, he looks silly, etc.. And Robert Smith seems to have gained 40 pounds. Hope he is healthy, etc.. Appearance does matter in the music industry, not always, but c'mon they are the Cure, and they built a whole career on creating some of the best music, (which is up for debate the past 10 years or so) and the Robert Smith trademark image of lost, boyish, theatric individual. Does it make a difference in the quality of music that Robert and the Cure create and play, nope. But will his and the bands appearance be up for scrutiny everytime they play live? Yep.
I couldn't care less about their appearances. Maybe when I was younger and more impressionable, and I'll agree they do go for the theatrical... but for me, music comes first, as always. I'll let Robert be as he want, as long as he doesn't go heart attack on us.
Thanks for the video craig. Great performance & the band looks awesome! Love the shoes on Porl and the feather tassels on Robert. And I think the band looks rather healthy and good for their age. It shouldn't matter how they look, we love The Cure for the music!
Oh before I forget, Thanks to andy for the link on Dime! I'll download it soon since this is quite good to watch over & over!!!

bon pancake day, craig!
ReplyDeletewhat the hell is on Robert's jacket? It looks like a bunch of sea urchins!

Was great, i watched the repeat last night :P To get it on my TV instead youtube.
ReplyDeleteLaissez les bon temps rouler, Craig!
ReplyDeleteYeah, Robert's jacket looks to be trimmed with faux feathers or fur...?
ReplyDeleteI think they are real feathers.
ReplyDeleteIs that the 30th-anniversary's special jacket?

Craig: don't forget to flash your boobs!
Wossy really plugged the boys, more so than most other bands he has on IMO. I have a new found respect for him.
ReplyDeleteAnd that jacket of Roberts was awesome...I want one.
Has Robert gained some weight back? His face looked awfully round.
ReplyDeleteI was happy to see at the beginning of the last tour that he'd lost some, but now it looks like he's back at it.

mmm, the *most* important thing is that he's healthy. I think it's challenging for him to take proper care of his health... :/
ReplyDeleteof course. I just think he does looks healthy. :)

I think Robert looked fantastic. :^P

Jeff K, you are right. However, it's something that makes me think that perhaps he is NOT taking care of himself - and that is upsetting to me.

i think it wasnt the best Only One weve seen.

Robert looks no better or worse than he did 10 years ago. I'm not kidding. Something about being in The Cure makes the members freeze their age.
