Wow... a wonderful song in many ways... I was finding something strange apart from Robert's mistakes and according to my older brother is because the hi-hat played by Jason is not correct or at least is not as in the studio version. I agree... I'm glad to have a Cure-brother who knows about music :)
Your brother is 100% correct. I'm no Jason basher, but I noticed the difference in the hi-hat right away too. I just didn't want to say anything because I didn't think anyone else would notice.
In case someone is ready to jump at the chance to complain about Jason: Even Boris played that pattern slightly different on Entreat, he played the trigger sound at the end of the riff instead of half way through.
@Xploding-Boy: hey so you noticed that too! I'm glad to know I'm not the only picky here :) I went to hear a bootleg I have from 1989 and you are right Boris doesnt make that wood sound in the middle but the hi hat doesnt change. Or at least he makes the change unnoticeable to my ears.
Perfect
ReplyDeleteWhy I fell in love with the Cure's music in 89? Well this song is a perfect answer to that question. Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteGod, I wish I would have been there just for the one song alone.

Beautiful but nowhere as magical as in 1989 when Robert used the Fender VI , that used to echo like a bell back then
