Rotosound page shows The Cure as endorsees, but the page lists past and present endorsing artists. I seem to remember that Robert was using Dean Markley strings when the Ultracure came out.
I don't know if he's still using them, but he used D'Addario strings for Coachella 2009. The bottom strings were heavier than I usually see. This might be the guage: http://www.daddario.com/DADProductDetail.Page?ActiveID=3769&productid=17&productname=EXL140_Nickel_Wound__Light_Top_Heavy_Bottom__10_52
I've used D'Addario for well over a decade now and I only have one minor complaint. Last year on 3-4 separate occasions the colored metal part broke in half, making the string useless. The strings were fairly new each time this happened. This hasn't turned me off to the brand at all though since I've had many other years with no issues at all.
From Davide on Twitter: In the 1990s he used Jim Dunlop guitar picks and Rotosound strings. Simon too used J. Dunlop picks (the one with the turtle).
ReplyDeletehe uses 1mm nylon dunlop picks (the black ones), but not sure about what size or kind of strings
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mike. Passed that on to Matt.
