I know I might get flames but I have always thought that Roger was the best pure musician The Cure ever had. Boris would be an incredibly close second. I bet Robert would agree.
I love Roger and wish Robert would ask him back to the Cure, but that clip sounded ridiculous, perhaps just not my taste and im pretty open minded. His piano playing is good, but what was that backing track nonsense?
@Twilight...Roger has always been a fan of Jazz music so you will hear that somewhat in most of his stuff. He is actually quite varied in what he can play though if you will give some of it a listen. I agree...probably the best overall pure musician the Cure ever had.
Roger is a really great Jazz / Fusion player, its a shame there are no recordings about of the Fusion band he has with Boris.
He recorded that piano part and some great fender Rhodes the same evening as he did the web cast / interview that I filmed at his place recently. I can pay him in Fish and Chips and Cider too :) Thanks for listening, Matthew
Yeah, just my initial reaction, I guess its a bit unfair, its only a 40 sec clip. I like some of his jazzy stuff he's done with the cure such as gone, actually I like all the stuff he's done with the cure, especially out of this world. Just listened to piano formations, thanks for the tip, its beautiful, simple and atmospheric! going to buy it now.
Cool :)

ReplyDeleteGreat...I want to come back to my piano lessons RIGHT NOW!
ReplyDeleteThe first 10 seconds sounded like a fusion of Six Different Ways and Strange Attraction! It must be my ears.

ReplyDeleteHey Craig, I dunno where to post Curespotting cause I'm so not tech savvy x]
ReplyDeleteI found this on tumblr, kind of a double geek out with The Cure and DW :P Poor sad Robert in this one haha...

ReplyDeleteI love the "Let's paste a picture of the band on top of an Apple screen saver" home made feel to their website...very South West of England!!
ReplyDeleteoh I still miss Roger in the band... Charlotte Sometimes sounded so good with him, but thats years ago...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hannah. I love that! And it's so true! : )
