Trilogy on Blu-Ray!

Is Trilogy coming out on Blu-Ray? CDOn has it listed for release on Jan. 28th, 2009. I've contacted Eagle Rock to ask about it, so maybe we'll have an answer soon. Hope this isn't another retailer error. (Thanks to BillOddity for the tip)

Update: Well that was incredibly quick. Yes, Trilogy will be out on Blu-Ray in Jan. 09! Here's the official reply from Eagle Rock: "Yes it will be released in January of 09. Keep checking our website for more info as it becomes available."

  5. Keep up the pressure MB. She's sure to buckle soon - there must be some Blu-ray movies and/or games she's interested in.

Promise her you'll sit down with her and watch the entire Sex and the City back catalog on Blu-ray :)

  6. Can anyone explain to me (without using the word "greed") why they keep re-releasing things in "special" formats instead of giving us something newer and/or better... like in Orange, for example?

  7. If In Orange, show and some other stuff also gets a blurayrelease, I will DEMAND a PS3 for Christmas (probably from Jultomten as we say here)

  9. Monkey: Exactly! And it isn't a gaming system, it's a home entertainment system! What's so hard to understand about that? : )

  10. She might like The Sims. Generalization, but a lot of women seem to enjoy puzzle games. Car racing games go down well, as does Singstar (a karaoke type game).

  11. Everyone likes Rock Band / Guitar Hero.

Hopefully Trilogy's rerelease will be part of Cure DVD boxset including some of the following:

Live in Japan, In Orange, Play Out, Show, Trilogy, Festival 2005, MTV Winter, Paris, Charlotte, NYC, and/or Coca Cola Live.

    A guy can dream....

  12. Well, this company is releasing Trilogy cause Blu-ray is IN, and they still got the rights and I think it was filmed in HD, so... would be easy thus logical to do.

For Orange, Show and all the others, would depend on state of the rights at the moment, the state of the concert themselves, and of course they're all lock in a vault, and our friend Bob is sitting on it, pondering... ways... and ways he could bring us the goodies.

  13. Trilogy was a no brainer for a Blu-ray release, since it was shot in HD to begin with. No doubt it was edited and mastered in HD too. The question is why has it taken so long to get it out there?

Now only if they released it with multi-angle capability : )

  16. It would be cool if they used this opportunity to release more of the songs from the encore than just "The Kiss" and "If Only Tonight". My sense was that Robert limited the number of bonus songs because that's all that would fit on the VHS. Time to make it really worth our while to buy the blu ray, especially since many of us (like me) don't even own a blu ray player.

By the way, Trilogy was the first DVD I ever bought for myself and my parents didn't own a DVD player then either.

  17. Scott, it's ALWAYS better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission... Take it from a guy who's been married 17 years! ;-)

Regarding the Blu-Ray, it's all well and good but they need to release the catalog in Blu-Ray too!

  19. Yes! :^D

Monkey, PS3 has a lot of amazing titles that are RPG/Adventure oriented: Oblivion is the best RPG out there - get the Game of the Year edition, since it comes with the expansions. Assassin's Creed is the best adventure and there's a new Tomb Raider (Underworld) coming out in time for Xmas. Other great notable games are Portal (get the Orange Box and you can enjoy Half-life2 and Team Fortress, if you like FPS) and Little Big Planet (the most creative game to come out in a while, a platform adventure with a built in level editor and online play.) There are a lot of other great ones out there, but those are the most notable. Good luck, PS3 is IMO a great entertainment investment, since it is so incredibly versatile - internet browsing, blu-ray, online gaming... it even supports MP4/Avi movies. Yay!

  21. Years ago, I lived with someone who had a Laserdisc player. During that time, I acquired a few Cure titles on LD, including Orange.

I still have them, but, they have never been viewed. Does anyone know how the LD versions compare with the VHS?
