Toronto announcement soon?

For those still holding out hope that the Toronto show wouldn't be at Bestival, and used last year's dates (a Friday and Saturday, so The Cure can't play, they'll be in Chicago) as your proof, that hope is fading fast.

Bestival has announced this year's dates, Saturday June 11th & Sunday June 12th, and a new venue. Still no official confirmation, and there's still a chance this is all a coincedence, but The Cure are playing Toronto on June 12th, Bestival needs a headliner Sunday night, Bestival and Robert have a good relationship, so...we should know something very soon.

Update (March 10th, 2016): Looks like we get our answer, one way or the other, tomorrow at 9 am eastern.

Perry update

From Perry on Facebook:

"Spent the weekend with LAR recording an acoustic version of the album "Lose Your Way". Great to see everyone again - including Paul Corkett. See the Love Amongst Ruin page for details of album release - and a new single in the works..!"

More Cure love from Jenny Lee Lindberg

From Q Magazine (April 2016).

I First Made Love To This
Pictures of You, The Cure (1989)

"I was obsessed with The Cure when I was in High School. I had Cure posters all over my wall. At 15, my first real boyfriend also really loved The Cure. Before that, I thought I was gonna save myself for marriage, because I grew up religious, but then I met this person and I was really in love with him, and I lost my virginity to Pictures of You, which I thought was really romantic! I love that all Robert Smith's songs are so romantic. It gave me hope - oh, I want to feel that, that intense deep love that I'd never experienced before. Pictures of You is sad, though - ironic that I lost my virginity to it..."

Cure comic book covers

Update (02/12/16): The Friday shirt is available today at teevillian for $11.

Update (01/09/16): Some of the artwork is available on shirts, prints, posters, etc. at Red Bubble and Society 6.

From Creative Bloq:

"Art director Butcher Billy turns The Cure frontman Robert Smith into a comic book star – and it's brilliant.

Love comics and The Cure? Then this is the perfect bit of inspiration for you, as Brazil-based artist Butcher Billy has crafted a range of comic covers inspired by frontman Robert Smith, which sees the singer in a range of weird and wonderful environments.

"This frightening series of strange tales is a homage to the goth legend who truly taught us love and darkness," he says of the project. Using song titles and comic book titles, it's a brilliant way to imagine what the stories would contain.

Featuring full colour versions, as well as black and white offerings, the attention to detail is staggering. It won't be just fans of The Cure that'll be able to appreciate the artistry here – illustrators and comic book geeks galore will definitely adore them."

More covers and the black & white versions here.

The Cure play Bestival on September 10th

The Cure will headline Bestival 2016 on September 10th. Tickets are on sale now.

"Saturday night headliners and one of my favourite bands ever, The Cure, played Bestival five years ago and almost had to be dragged off stage after a three-hour mammoth greatest hits set. Robert Smith popped down last year and we shook hands on it all happening again… bring it on!

The Cure's Robert Smith said: "We are very very happy to be back at our favourite festival; we can't wait to play a special set to show the future IS what it used to be…"

One of Bestival HQs favourites and, frankly, one of the greatest bands of all time, The Cure will headline Saturday night when Bestival heads to The Future. From Three Imaginary Boys in 1979 to their most recent album 4:13 Dream, they've forged their own path, dragging everyone else in their wake. Covering the gamut of emotions that take in the heady pop of Boys Don't Cry and Inbetween Days, the heartbreak of Pictures of You and Bloodflowers, the ferociousness of Give Me It and Fascination Street and the dreaminess of Underneath the Stars and Lovesong, their live shows are legendary, taking the crowd on a beautiful rollercoaster ride. So, we really can't wait to welcome them back to the main stage at Robin Hill this September."

(Thanks @christinefalls,  @mlindenuk, @waswasere, @GigiBurgdorf)

So does this lend more credibility to the Toronto show being at Bestival Toronto? A package deal? Or less? Bestival not wanting to have the same headliner at both events? Either way, I hope we get some news about Toronto soon.
