  4. Reeves is showing a remarkable amount of restraint in these shows, which is just what the band needs. As much as I respect Porl, he's way too much of a virtuoso guitar player for a mininalistic band like The Cure.

I like what Reeves brings to the band. I hope he sticks around long enough to do some recording.

  5. Reeves makes the price of admission worth it with his playing in FtEotDGS alone! (not to mention Wrong Number)

I really do hope he gets into the studio with the rest of the guys!

    1. I agree 100%. As well as his own immense talent bringing something fresh to the guitar parts, you can't help but notice how much better everyone else is playing this year in his presence. Bestival sounded bad in my opinion, and I think the last time The Cure sounded "right" before these summer shows was probably on the Bloodflowers tour. I fell in love with The Cure all over again this Summer.

    1. Eric, you're entitled to your opinion, but you've been stating it over, and over, and over again. I think that all of us got the idea a long time ago.

  11. was checking out some reeves stuff on youtube and it struck me that he's the first non english guy ever in the band ? never paid much attention to him before but he was demo-ing a reverend guitar and man, he's pretty fast! makes you realise how restrained he is during those recent cure gigs!

  13. Reeves is awesome for posting these articles! I already suspected that Fender VI was one of Robert's, but nice to have it confirmed firsthand. Wonderful to see it back in action again!

  14. I'm always thrilled at the sound of Fender VI...its the building block of Cure's sound...from 3IB to Disintegration...

  15. I wonder if this is also the Bass VI that Simon plays on rare occasions (Fascination Street video, There is No If, and a few other places)? I had always assumed it belonged to Simon, but it does appear to have similar modifications. Uhm...and it also sounds really really good. I wonder if that's the added HPF?
