"Just had a quick flick through the Channel 4 listings for next week. On Friday 27th February there are two shows featuring the NME Shockwaves Awards.
At 19:30 on '4 Music' there is a 45 minute programme called "T4 at the Shockwaves NME Awards" and on Channel 4 23:35-1:10 there is a longer programme called "Shockwaves NME Awards" which seems to be a run through of the Brixton Academy awards giving." (Thanks Beau)
Update: Friday I'm In Love & Just Like Heaven from the show.

ReplyDeleteIt's only two hours so expect some big edits but its still going to be seen on TV!!
Hey UK peeps - i would love a copy of this if you mmanage to record it.
ReplyDeleteVery cool that this show will be aired on TV. I just hope someone records it for the non UK peeps! It would be greatly appreciated by many fans if you do! Thanks so much!

DBC: I'm not surprised at all. Certain fans really need to be called out on their obnoxious behavior.
ReplyDeletecraig;im tooooooo angry to even moan more.....some people jst shouldnt be allowed out in public
ReplyDeleteDBC: I completely understand that feeling! : ) Hope they didn't ruin the show for you.
ReplyDeleteDBC: I sooo understand how you feel and it really sucks when your experience is tainted by the obnoxiousness of others. I am glad that you enjoyed the show in spite of it though!

ReplyDeletedbc--Sorry to see that you had to experience some unpleasantness during the show. At least you were still able to enjoy yourself!
ReplyDeleteIt's Over is awesome live!!! And I still like calling it BRDB.
Aaron--That's so typical with those Tv shows!!! Only play one or two of the songs and not the whole set.
I would still like the video so hopefully somebody taped.
ReplyDeleteAaron: It's already posted. Check the front page. : )
ReplyDeleteWhich show was this on?
ReplyDeleteIt was the NME awards show on channel 4
ReplyDeleteDBC what happened man? Are you sure they were there for The Cure and not rowdy sixth form students there only for FF? (God damn do I hate sixth form students)
ReplyDeleteliking the grace jones character in the FIl and JLH vid
ReplyDeletespotted irina lazareanu among the "celebs", didntknow she liked FIL lol
some parts of the video, the camera should have just stayed focused on the band dang it
must say, the band looks so young and really energized!!
I watched the NME show on Channel 4 yesterday night. I don't know whether anybody has picked up Robert's speech on Wednesday night.
ReplyDeleteThere was a long applause and most nominees stood up as he received the award. He said something like: "It's always weird to come up here [on stage] when it's not for singing, but thank you very much NME for giving us this [award] we are flattered and surprised and pleased to receive it. I am here [on the award stage] on my own but I would like to thank the band, Simon, Jason and Porl for sticking with me over these 33 years. And I would also like to thank all those who over the years have come to the shows, liked us and dug us: you made it all worthwhile, and if you had half the fun we had, then it's been more than worthwhile. Thank you."
andrewv127... well there was numerous things ,, the worst of which were some racist idiots - in cure tshirts\(quite probably 6th formers )giving this black kiddie stick beside me ..luckily im 6'2 and sixteen stone so once i got involved they fucked off ..or so i thought coz the little cunts went n got a steward to try n lob me out ..didnt work though obviously
ReplyDeletebut how somewhere like the o2 can allow in people wearing BNP buttons i'll never fuckin understand
Ahhh DBC thats too bad man. How on earth a Cure gig attracts dickheads like that is beyond me. It doesn't take too much digging around to see that the band are massive supporters of Amnesty which stands up against shit like that.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope theres a better crowd for the May gig (if we keep spreading that rumour it may happen...)

ReplyDeleteClose To Me from tv!
DBC, good for you for standing up and doing the right thing. That shit is unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteSounds just terrible DBC! What a bunch of idiots you had to deal with!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the video Craig & Aaron! The band looks great & it's cool to see a lot of the fans having fun! What a night that must have been!
