Perfect Boy download, lyrics (sort of)

Just got a mp3 of the Perfect Boy. Very nice mid-tempo rock/pop track. Given how great the single sounds (production wise, Robert and Keith did an excellent job), this should be a great song on the album. Anyway, here's the download. Thanks to Eric for sending it in.

The Perfect Boy

You and me are the world, she said
Nothing else is real
The two of us is all there is
The rest is just a dream

Always meant to be, I can't feel it
Like the destiny thing, yeah
Written in the stars
Inescapable fate, it's out of my hands
Falling into your arms

And I don't want to be (innocent?)
But I would love you to take my time
We're on the edge of a beautiful thing, she said
So come on, stay here for awhile

Oooooh girl, he is the one for sure
Oooooh girl, he is the perfect boy

Yeah me and you are a world, you said
But not the only one I need
The two of us is never all there is
That doesn't happen for real
If it was meant to be us, it was meant to be now
Don't see the sense in wasting time
If you're so sure about this ??????? ?????????
You know tonight, you're mine

And I don't want to get obvious
But I have to be gone by three
We're on the edge of a beautiful thing, he said
So come on, jump with me

Oooooh girl, he's not so wonderful
Oooooh girl, he's not the one for sure
Oooooh girl, he's not so wonderful
Oooooh girl, he's not the perfect boy....at all

Me and you are the world, she said
Nothing else is real
The two of us is all there is
The rest is just a dream

And her heart may be broken a hundred times
But (the hope?), we'll never destroy
Her (hope? heart?), the happy ever after girl
(?????????????) the perfect boy

  2. From what I've heard, there's powerful magic in the new record. Would that it had been Robert and Keith instead of Robert and Ross on the last one. Had that been the case, Number 12 almost certainly would have been a masterpiece.

  5. We're just making fun ;-)

I like the song, too. Sounds very energetic.

I think we should expect a poppy album, shouldn't we?

  6. And THANKS for posting the MP3!

  7. See, I don't think it sounds too "poppy". At least in comparison to Only One and Freakshow.

  10. Honestly, i think that "the perfect boy" is the best song from the new album so far! close to "a boy i never knew".

perhaps they should write more songs with "boy" in the title.

YEAH THEY SHOULD MAKE MORE SONGS WITH "BOY" IN THE TITLE.

  16. Thanks, Craig.

It's a nightmare (and I know that's totally my problem) trying not to read the setlists because I want to be surprised this time! I haven't read a single setlist for 9 months, and I'm so glad I haven't. I was so bored predicting every song during Curiosa.

I'm doing the same with Radiohead this year!

Enjoy your concerts (or good luck getting tickets) the rest of you!

  17. Thanks so much, Craig!! - I really like it! I think it's one of my favorite of the new songs, and it's making me really excited about the new album!! I think this album is going to be much better than The Cure, which I don't dislike, but I don't love. (Just having Ross gone will make a huge difference, I'm sure...)

@Muldfield: Wow, that is some major willpower you've got to not read the setlists, but I think that you will enjoy the shows more for it. Even though I knew better, I read the European setlists before I saw the shows in Hamburg/Berlin, and I could pretty much predict what was going to be played, even before I'd seen the show myself. :) I love watching along as the lists are being posted live, though...For me, a vicarious concert experience is better than none at all! :D

  20. Wow. Can anyone say Wish era? This track is great! Every song that the Cure have done that has "boy" in the title is amazing, and the ones with "girl" in the title aren't half bad, either.

  28. good piece of rock-pop, it might be the "rock" single, my favorite song so far, more dynamic then "the only one" and "the boy I never knew" (pretty standard tune) and so freak as "freak show" :)

I look forward for the damn record now!

  29. i wonder if this one is the left out of the "head of the door" sessions that robert said they were going to use

craig, do you know something about this?

  30. @aubergac I don't think so, I guess that one is "freak show"

    ReplyDelete
  31. @aburgac I thought that one was called 'Sleep When I'm Dead.'

This song is really, really good! I hope the album version sounds as shiny happy as the mix of The Only One, which reminds me of Friday I'm In Love/ Doing The Unstuck..

  32. Yes, the song from 85 is Sleep When I'm Dead. Here's what Robert said in Rolling Stone:

At least one tune will almost definitely make the cut: "Sleep When I'm Dead," a recently unearthed demo from 1985's The Head On The Door. "It sounds genuinely 1980's," Smith says. "I don't think that's a bad thing. It's part of our heritage."
