  1. Can't believe how excited I am about this and I don't get to see them till the last 4 dates of the whole tour..

What will they play..?? What will they open with..?? And what of the 'unreleased' songs mentioned in the original press release..!!

  2. Cant believe they havent dropped a new album yet...i mean whats the point of such a big world tour without an album to promote?

    1. fair enough but its not like they need the cash...and Bob doesnt like touring much...plus they could make a pile of cash just doing the European festival circuit again..theres got to be more to this tour than cash building

    1. I think that as well.. Even more so with the Australia and NZ shows dropping in as well..

Not necessarily the end of the band or them playing live but the last 'proper' tour...

  6. Hard to say what the set list will look like...I have a few thoughts...

    1. I think we will see a decrease in "The Top" material. Sets were 'top heavy' in 2013, 2014 and they played her in full 3x... Hoping they at least pull in something rare from that one like 'Wailing Wall' or 'Empty World' and don't revert back to the default 'SDS'...

    2. Several albums have been ignored for some time...Bloodflowers, Pornography being the two that stand out. I expect to the return of some of those songs; "Cold", "Siamese Twins", "Pornography"...hell maybe even "Short Term Effect"... also "Maybe Someday", "Bloodflowers"... a few others.

    3. RS does love his 'era' marks and we're right inbetween Head and KMKMKM... we could see some of those songs not played in a long time..."Screw", "6 Different Ways",... quite a bit off KMKMKM not touched since 1987 actually... "One More Time", "All I Want", "One Thousand Hours"... all targets...

    4. Bsides? Who the hell knows. I never though t they would play "Man Inside My Mouth".. anyone's guess here.

    5. New songs? Looks like a repeat of 2008 - if we get any at all, of which I have doubts now.

    6. Burn? I hope so, it should be a standard in the setlist.

    7. There are quite a few from Disintegration, Wish not played in a long time.."Last Dance", "Homesick", "Untitled", "Cut", "Apart", "Wendytime"... maybe he'll pull out some of those...

    8. If this is the 'last' proper tour, I expect Bobby will want to play as much that hasn't been played as possible. We could see him touch most of the bsides? Who knows.

Going to be interesting, that's for sure!

    1. Sorry meant '30 year' era mark. And I will add, let's not forget about 3iM - Faith, while played in full back in 2011 it's been 5 years and those songs could take up 5 - 7 spots in the setlist

  7. One more...because I'm obsessed until next week, lol...

WMS/The Cure/4:13... Maybe one from each? I really hope 'ol Bobby doesn't spend a lot of time on these records.

  14. Also, I wonder the likelihood of getting a Bowie cover too? Young Americans would be great.

  15. His Quicksand performance during Bowie's 50th was great, but doesn't Robert dislike live covers as a rule, even if he breaks it occasionally? I know he's given Echo and the Bunnymen serious shit over People are Strange.

    1. Also, I'd like to hear Robert warble Oh You Pretty Things.

    2. Probably! I generally also don't like hearing covers live as I think it's a waste, but I think an exception here would be fine. For sentimental reasons, and more like a tribute...I just saw Jeff Tweedy of Wilco end his set with an emotional cover of Five Years and it's one of my favourite moments of the year by far

    3. On the 2002 Tour they did covers of Alex Harvey's 'Faith Healer' and Thin Lizzy 'Don't Believe a Word' on multiple nights though..

I'd love to see them have a crack at Changes if they are doing Bowie though.. :)

  16. I'm down with covers. It's a good way for a band to connect with fans in a genuine way. "Hey, we know you like other music. We do, too." I mean, we're certainly not going to hear a Michael George or Duran Duran cover, but there's plenty of great 70's rock out there that Robert digs. Generally, I think Robert just opts to have the new bands he likes open for him.

  17. I have tickets for October in Vienna. As I want to be and stay surprised by the setlist then, I will probably not visit this site from next week until Oct.26th. Feels quite strange as it has become a sort of daily routine watching out for cure news here.

So Craig, thanks for your great work keeping us updated about our passionate loved band!!

And to all of you attending one or more of the shows - enjoy and have a great time!

  20. Very excited for NOLA and all of the US. I hope everyone has a fabulous time.

and I definitely hope for new music

  21. As long as there's no new material I don't see the point in this tour. Playing fan favourites? They did that for ten years... I hope there's something new to listen to.

    ReplyDelete
  22. pretty sure the original press release said they'd be playing new stuff. however this could be tunes they've not played live before or tracks that got shelved for whatever reason. anyway it will be class & can't wait.

  23. The OFFICIAL statement from October:

"explore 37 years of Cure songs, mixing hits, rarities, favourites and as yet unreleased tracks"

Cure sets in 2008, which was the last proper tour, were between 32 - 35 songs. They played 5 - 6 new songs per night. Possible breakdown:

    - 5 New Songs (my bet is 2 or 3 though)
    - 15 'hits' (e.g Just Like Heaven, etc.)
    - 10 'Fan Favorites' (Deep Green Sea, 100 Years, etc.)
    - 5 'rarities' (bside, soundtrack, something not played in a long time).

Key word: EXPLORE, which imo means some serious digging.

But what does RS consider 'rare'? Album tracks, bsides? Who knows...

I also wonder if they can keep up 35 songs a night for months on end. RS is 8 years older ...

Who knows, my expectations are very high for some serious digging into the catalog this time around.

  24. "as yet unreleased tracks" to me means songs they are not available anywhere - not bsides, soundtrack, etc... as of October 2015: NOT RELEASED.

Could be 4:14 Dream songs, could be old songs never put out, could be new songs with the 'newest' Reeves/O'Donnell line up....

Remember, in 2008 they played 7 songs that were not released: Underneath the Stars, The Only One, Perfect Boy, Sleep When I'm Dead, Freakshow, It's Over, Boy I Never Knew

    1. Yeah. But *if* they are new songs that are good enough to be played live - why don't they just release them as an album?
