well it looks like that is the going rate - looks like a few sold on Ebay not long ago $150-$180 range. :( which is very sad. Mine is old, worn loving and nasty and i could use a new one. Shame on me for not buying two. but well for that price i think not. It was only sold in 2000. So sad to see people sell stuff on ebay with a starting BID of that much - drives me insane! A dear friend of mine just sold a few WISH necklaces for a deal to CURE friends at a more then fair price... I love EBAY.. but the greed kills me sometimes... - I always post a few ebay links - but not the crazy prices ones.. - http://www.facebook.com/Picturesofyouus/notes
I agree the price is rather high, but it is still below what they are going for on e-bay. Yes i feel a little ashamed, but I am having a hard time right now financially and it is a matter of need not greed. I have "invested" and spent a lot of money for many CURE items that I know I have paid above and beyond what they were worth in some peoples eyes, but if I wanted it enough, I paid the price. All for the love of THE CURE. It is hard enough for me to get rid of any of my CURE items, but I am doing what has to be done. I had to price it at the going price range, otherwise someone could turn around and resell it and make more profit, and as I said, believe me it is need not greed.
Why are you guys being so mean-spirited? Randy is just trying to sell something that a lot of people are interested in. Don't like the price? Don't buy it.
I think it is absolutely bizarre that people are shocked by that price and coming across as morally superior to someone who is selling an item they own for what it is worth. Collectables are worth what people will pay for them. If someone wants to buy his necklace for $200 then it is worth $200 and he should sell it for whatever he can get. He bought it and kept it in good shape and now has the option to sell it to someone who didn't have an opportunity to get one back in 2000.
I would love to have a Honus Wagner baseball card, but I can't guilt someone into lowering the price to $40 so I can afford one.
Is the world of collecting that foreign to people. I think not. People pay all kinds of money so they can fill boxes with tiny Cure trinkets. I'm amazed at collections of what is basically junk. I get it, if it's a record or CD and it includes a song you have never heard. The Internet killed that hobby though. I can get any Cure song online, why pay outrageous sums of money to get a 7" piece of vinyl in a tattered cardboard sleeve. I suppose it makes you feel closer to the band and the music to immerse yourself in all that is Cure, but I grew out of that when I was a teenager and I'm 43 now.
Speaking of that, I need to list a bunch of the crap I have in boxes in the closet, like a Wish tour necklace that has never been worn. I saw one on eBay for $362. I could buy a lot of music, food, or even a plane ticket for that.
Randy, what you are doing is not wrong in anyway, and I hope you make a boatload of cash. I also hope the person who buys it finds whatever they were looking for in that material possession.
That is an INSANE price - you should be ashamed!!!!
