Robert's wishes for 2009

KROQ has posted the Almost Acoustic X-mas program guide, and they asked each band what change they would like to see most in 09, and here's what Robert wants:

More people getting involved in the preservation of the only world we have? The rich getting poorer, and the poor getting richer? No more labels? Can I really only pick one?

"The only angels you should hear are reason, honesty, equality and love / the only devils you should fear are hatred, ignorance, greed and a world full of people scared dumb."

Amen! Uh, I mean, right on! ; )

Update: V made an excellent observation this morning - "I was just looking at the AAC program and I noticed that the first paragraph from The Cure's page is not in quotes, but the second part ("The only angels...") is in quotes.
I wonder if this is another lyrics preview, like we got for TRSW in the 4Tour program? :)" (Thanks V)

  1. That's exactly how I feel. He's so wise.

  2. Agreed. I like the Vampire Weekend one, too, but Robert's is more all-encompassing, and it's nice to hear him being political. I must say it's hard for me not to hate the Bush administration and feel rage at seeing them all get away with what they've done.

I'm also pissed Barack Obama didn't nominate one of the few politicians I like, especially among Republicans, Nebraska's Senator Chuck Hagel who is retiring in a month. Hillary's gonna screw it up just like Bill did.

  3. Robert's a wise, wise man. I'm so glad when I hear musicians or similar people using what influence they have to get people thinking. Good stuff =)

  4. "No more labels"! Double meaning there, I think :)

  5. Right on Robert! The world surely needs all the help it can get and with your sort of thinking I hope it can get better. I agree with you 100% but we need to get everyone on the same page. Hopefully things will change for the better in the years to come!

    I LOVE RS TOO!!! ;)

  6. No more labels. I loved that. I thought it was a direct slam towards TMU.

  7. Muldfeld,

There is a very good reason Chuck Hagel is retiring. The backwards, ultra-conservative Dubya-loving people here in the state of Nebraska would never have re-elected a Senator who (gasp) does his own thinking. You have no idea how much he is hated here…And I would have voted for him just for that! :)

Though, our little itty-bitty Omaha Congressional district did send one of its electoral votes to Obama. (First time it was ever split to a Democrat) I was proud of that!

  9. I love Him. I love the fact that he not only stands for correct, and noble ideals, but that he is so loving and kind.

After all these years, for Him to be so outspoken on Human Rights, Equality, and Integrity for the planet and others is wonderful.

It just makes me love Him all the more!

  11. Two aliens landed in the Arizona desert near a gas station that was closed for the night. They approached one of the gas pumps and the younger alien addressed it saying, "Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Take us to your leader"

The gas pump, of course, did not respond.

The younger alien became angry at the lack of response.

The older alien said, "I'd calm down if I were you"

The younger alien ignored the warning and repeated his greeting. Again, there was no reply.

Annoyed by what he percieved to be the pump's haughty attitude, he drew his ray gun and said impatiently,"Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace, but do not ignore us. Take us to your leader or I will fire!"

The older alien again warned his comrade saying,"You probably don't want to do that! I really don't think you should make him mad"

"Rubbish", replied the cocky, young alien. He aimed his weapon at the pump and opened fire. There was a huge explosion. A massive fireball raced towards them and blew the younger alien off his feet and deposited him a burnt, smoking mess about 200 yards away in a cactus patch.

Half an hour passed. When he finally regained consciousness, he refocussed his three eyes, staightened his bent antenna and looked dazedly at the older, wiser alien who was standing over him shaking his big green head.

"What a ferocious creature!", exclaimed the young, fried alien."He damn near killed me! How did you know he was so dangerous?"

The older alien leaned over, placed a friendly feeler on his crispy friend and replied,"If there's one thing I've learned during my intergalactic travels, it's that you don't want to mess with a guy that can loop his penis over his shoulder twice and then stick it in his ear"

  13. Cool, there's still a glimmer of hope for this world.

  14. Classic Robert - Eloquent, but with a little wit slipped in against TMU.

I was glad to see that about half the acts had something worthwhile to say, balancing out the idiots.

  15. Let me thank you and other Nebraskans for voting for him. He was far braver than any member of Congress during the 2006 Israeli massacre of Lebanon (unlike every cowardly Democrat appealing to fundamentalist Jewish votes), and I had already been impressed with his critical stance of the Bush administration.

May I ask, if they had reelected him before, why would they not now? Surely, they Dubya-type Republicans are most unpopular now?

My older brother and I are hoping he'll be appointed to replace Secy of Defense Gates when that guy leaves in a year. I really hope so. I really don't trust all those Clintonites. They were better than the Bushies, but not exactly liberals, except on the environment.

  16. I gotta say, though, we're going through a mess here in Canada. The superficial media took down the only respectable politician we have -- Stephane Dion -- because he made a few tactical errors and wasn't cool and has a strong French accent. There's so much racism toward Quebec in our country and it pisses me off that the liberal elements of our government-funded media, who go on and on about liberal issues and bringing attention on the environment, attacked him to no end when he proposed a carbon tax. Canada pollutes more per capita than American and it's time our country did its fare share in preventing global warming that is already punishing so many simple peoples in Pacific islands; it's our fault their way of life is unsustainable.

Very disappointed in the Canadian people and the Canadian media that misinforms them. I thought CNN was bad, but our media is hardly any better.

  17. Imagine there's no Heaven
    It's easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today

    Imagine there's no countries
    It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
