ReplyDeleteso.... suddenly TMU have decided to promote the band?
ReplyDeleteFirst - Thanks for wanting to come and see the show in person. Second - Get over the fact that you have to request tickets via mail. Remember mail? Actual stamps? C'mon, it'll be fun!
ReplyDeleteWow! Why on earth would they (Leno) still use this system?
Because The Chin is lame? : P
ReplyDeleteThat must be it! :)
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never. I hope this will rack up some high sale numbers for the album.
ReplyDeletev - will you be going to LA for the CureFest?
ReplyDeleteElise: No, ma'am, I will not. :(
ReplyDeleteIt would be cool if they could hit Letterman. I would love to see Robert with Dave and the East Coasters would get a chance to see them. Sales better boost after this trip.
ReplyDeletev - that's a shame :(
ReplyDeleteAt least you will be able to join in COF chat - that makes me happy!
Elise: It makes me happy, too, actually. COF is the place to be on show nights, especially when it's Christmas party night. ;)
ReplyDeleteExactly - in fact, is it wrong that the thing that disappointed me most about NOT being able to go to LA, was that I wouldn't be there when so many COF peeps catch up.
ReplyDeleteRoll on the Wishful Thinking (Dark Dreams) tour!!!
And I'm very glad that V will be with us, too.
ReplyDelete; )
Craig, we are getting you on the dark tour. The COF bus will travel
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Craig. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, Craig - I am really surprised that you are happy that V will be joining the COF chat...... NOT!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's almost like having the original COF chat crew together again.
And, Cureheart - I hope Craig will join us on the COF Bus too
Elise, V and Craig and crew on the dark tour bus and blogging along the way...you know it's in the stars ;o)
ReplyDelete*sends good vibes to the universe for the Dark Dreams tour*
ReplyDeleteI will not be on any bus!
ReplyDeleteawww, Craig :(
ReplyDeletesomebody better tape these for those not in the usa, sounds GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.
ReplyDeleteaaron, i got it covered.
ReplyDeleteyay! thanks Andy
ReplyDeletegood stuff andy, i'd happily youtube too if wanted.
ReplyDeleteyay!
ReplyDeleteSo, Leno says that requests should be made SIX WEEKS in advance, eh? Are we not past that point?
ReplyDeletewow, so much going on. Its exciting. For once i am happy i live on the west coast
ReplyDeleteApril - not so good if the west coast you live on is a completely different continent - lol
ReplyDeleteaaaahhhhhh - where are the kimmel tix - what night???
ReplyDeleteits killing me!
PLEASE BE WHILE I'M THERE!!!! fingers crossed!
cat u should try to change ur flight for leno!!! lol or as chris said "we can just stalk them afterwards if we dont go to leno"
ReplyDeletehaha I feel bad for the band - do you know how many "super fans" will be there this WHOLE week??
ReplyDeleteThey will need to dress as women or something to enjoy the day out! hehe I bet PORL would make a kickass woman! ;)
How about coming to NY, Bob?
ReplyDeleteelise - awww....
ReplyDeleteits going to be a COF infestation!
yeah so like someone pointed out above it says for Leno tickets you must make a request through the mail 6 WEEKS in advance, whereas the taping of that show is in only about three weeks, so I'm not clear on how anyone would get tickets to this show unless they went to the box office on the morning of that day hoping to score them in person that way
ReplyDeletePS - this is off-topic. I saw the B-52's last night in San Raphael
ReplyDeletewas fun!
This will be cool. I hope they mix it up and don't play The Only One at each appearance.
ReplyDeletethis is surely the strangest marketing campaign i've seen in awhile.
ReplyDelete1) tour the world.
2) near the end of the tour, over the course of four months, release four singles.
3) wait a month, then release a bad remix ep.
4) wait a month, then throw an album out to the wolves.
5) don't do anything for another month, then suddenly schedule a rash of TV appearances.
:/
Ok I am just going to throw this out there...
ReplyDeletedo you think there is ANY chance at all of the DARK album being in our stockings????
Just a thought...
you'd think they recorded all the songs while building the album and then decided to put the heavy stuff on the "Dark Album" so really it would be "done" already?!
hummm...... something to think about!
yes, the way this record has been promoted is quite surreal..
ReplyDeleteKel- if porl turns into a woman, i am turning lesbian! lol! jk
ReplyDeleteso how the hell do you get tix for leno?
ReplyDeletewhy do they have to make everything soo damn DIFFICULT??
I am so excited! What a logistical nightmare! What am I going to use as an excuse at work! Can I get really sick!!! Hope everyone gets tickets.
ReplyDeleteLet Cure week begin!!!!!
If I'm not mistaken then this is the only way to get into Leno:
ReplyDelete"Tickets for a specific show are available the day of the show only at the NBC Ticket Box, located at NBC in Burbank, CA. The NBC Ticket Box opens at 8:00 a.m. All available tickets are distributed to the public on a first come, first-served two (2) tickets per person basis."
"...do you think there is ANY chance at all of the DARK album being in our stockings????"
ReplyDeleteANSWER: NO, impossible. The Cure's contract with Geffen/TMU, as was noted in an article, states that a minimum 6 months between CD releases is required in order for The Cure to fulfil their 3 CD contract obligation with Geffen/TMU. So it ain't gonna happen.
What I believe will happen is The Cure will release 4:14 Nightmare in June 09. And will hit the Euro Summer festival circuit as their primary CD promo effort. Follow that up with a handful of Festival/Big Event appearances in North America/South America, maybe Asia. Several TV appearances sprinkled in their too. Robert has stated he prefers the big outdoor festival gigs to touring;as you just show up with your guitar and let someone else worry about the planning and logistics. I don't blame him!
This notion of The Cure doing another major world tour in 09 is pure fantasy IMO. Let's remember the lads are 50'ish years old, have families, Porl has a business, etc. This is not a young band that is desparate to break the charts any more ... thye have lifes, unlike bands that manned by 22 year olds ...
Another point, which a lot of you youngsters may not have noticed, 2009 is going to be a very BAD year. I remember the 1982-83 Recession well, as my parents' lost our house, lost their jobs ... this Recession is going to be MUCH worse. Concert tours and CD sales are going to be a major economic casualty next year. As many 'customers' are going to be out of work/broke ... It'll be the 20 somethings that bear the brunt of this (who are the major consumers of tours/CDs). Sorry for the doom & gloom, but I am a Cure fan afterall ...
MonkeyButt
ReplyDeleteYou took the words from my mouth. Strange to say the least!
LETTERMAN AND O'BRIEN AND NEW YORK ARE WAITING!

ReplyDeletesofia - i hope they come your way too! I bet you miss portland now! lol
ReplyDeleteapril, one thing is true and that's that i ALWAYS miss portland.
ReplyDelete{sigh}
sofia - We've actually been having good weather. Its sunny today and warm. Imagine that!
ReplyDeletewhen's everyone flying in L.A.?
ReplyDeleteapril, sunny AND warm?
ReplyDeletei find that hard to believe! ;)
Rob- You made some very poignant and valid statements. I remember Robert saying that they weren't planning on touring again any time soon; it would be understandable if he didn't want to deal with all that hassle anywhere in the near future. Perhaps they will only make some scattered appearances and as you said, Festival/Big Event shows.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand you on the economy but, I'm sure you know that Cure fans are a desperate lot and will dig deep in their pockets to see their favorite people. Of course, if we end up in some sort of Mad Max scenario... going to see a concert will be the least of our worries. lol
Even with President Elect Obama at the helm, I agree that this recession is going to be one of the worst we've ever seen... no nation is immune. It's going to be a long hard slog, undoing the damage that this current Administration has wreaked on this country. I believe the saying is, "when America sneezes, the world gets pneumonia". Maybe we should all get as much fun in as we can until then!! Oh, and prepare.
oh well thanks for bringing us all down guys
ReplyDeletelol
No problem Paul. :p
ReplyDeleteI like to see everything as it is and not as I'd like it to be. I'm not saying things are going to get impossible, just extraordinarily challenging.
they're kind of always extrordinary challenging all the time anyway, in an existential sort of way. As was all explained in great detail in Robert Smith's tragic comedy, or "traumedy" "A Forest."
ReplyDeletehelsabot
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments, well stated.
rob
I hear you Paul. "traumedy" :)
ReplyDeleteIt's really nothing to be afraid of.
Rob- I hope we're wrong about them not doing another proper tour any time soon because I would love to see them sooner than later, but even I need a proper shaking at times to get my head out of the clouds... or out of my ass! <3
So let's all talk about hooking up after the Carson Daly show and gettin' loaded mo fos
ReplyDeletedoes anyone need tix to carson daly??
ReplyDeleteDJ, I think they'll check ID. If it doesn't match the name on the tix, the person you give them to won't get in.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletethen who can get into the taping then? i thought there were limited seats inside the studio?
ReplyDeleteor the tix are for the outdoor mini show?

ReplyDeleteThe Carson Daly taping is on the indoor stage, not outside. Says it right there on the ticket page:
ReplyDelete"Come see THE CURE perform multiple songs on the Last Call INDOOR stage."
Or am I missing something?
And not all of the JK performances are outdoors. They have an indoor studio, too.

ReplyDeleteSorry Craig, the fire air is getting to my few brain cells and I see the both minis inside/outside. I wonder how it works with two separate tickets at same time. Oh well, time will tell.
ReplyDeleteWow lots of Cure Fun on the West Coast in early December. Have fun to all of the Cure Peeps who are going! I hope you all can get tickets for each TV show & KROQ too if they play that event! I can't wait for the Cure Chat that weekend & seeing all the shows on the tube too!
ReplyDeleteAnd to Robert, how about heading out to the East Coast & playing some shows here?
Letternam & Conanan and even the early morning shows too. They all have mini concerts! How cool would it be if they came out to NYC too!!! Curemas in NYC would be so fabulous!
