Vote Cure!

The official site has details on voting for The Cure to be a finalist in the "Headliner" category of the MTV EMA's. And once again, Robert has posted in the comments:

NOT SURE WHY I PICKED ON THESE 4...
9/9/2008 10:44:40 AM - by CURE:ROBERT

NOT ENOUGH TIME TO TYPE IN THE REST OF THE LIST MAYBE?!!
(NIRVANA / LED ZEP / (OLD) STONES AND BEATLES APART OF COURSE!)

HIHOHIHO ETC
RSX

Always a good sign when RS sings Disney songs! ; )

  1. Ooooh, I voted!

Although, the US VMAs were not very entertaining this year. Thank goodness for TiVo and being able to fast-forward through the nonsense. :)

It appears that I can vote as many times as I want, too!

  2. OMG

He is merely stoking the fires of femme libidos everywhere...

    OR IS IT JUST ME?

    Don't answer that.

  3. i just got on rsx's case for lumping in u2 with jonas brothers.

after all, he embraces the likes of afi... ah, the blind hypocrisy...

  5. What a goofy list. Damn Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, Enrique Iglines, Pussycat Dolls & a few more awful choices with the Cure?????

This sort of stuff doesn’t matter much to me if they get picked or not. Robert seems to be quite amused & entertained about it all. Still I voted for The Cure at least 100 times so far. And yeah my finger hurts from clicking the vote button!

And I’m glad to see one of my other favorite bands in the list Franz Ferdinand! Ok I voted for them a few times too!

  7. with all his technical expertise, rsx can't make a clickable link?

    humming sound in head.

  10. I hate crappy web site design!

With all the capable web peeps & geeks out in Cureland that know how to put together a decent web page together, you'd think Robert would ask a few of us help him out with the official.

  11. lol, v: as your vigilant student, i may be able to instruct him at this point! ;)

  14. Now if you're voting for The Cure and are wondering who else to vote for in the other categories... spare a tick for The Wombats!

  15. Well-ish, V! What are you up to lately? Me, just workin', writin', chillin'.

  16. i was perplexed with the choice of russell brand hosting the vmas, since mtv is just full of squares and losers and no one here knows who the hell russell brand is in the first place, but thats neither here nor there.

best album of 2008- NICK CAVE?! clearly the europeans are way more fucking hip than we are.

it was very difficult for me to pick the cure over prince as headliner because prince puts on such a good goddamn show, but the cure must triumph. it's "kismet".

  17. It's off to work we go. He must be in a good mood if he is thinking about Disney:) When I was at Disney World last October, I looked and looked for he and Mary's tile, but never found it XO

Anah: Robert and Mary's tile? What's that? :)

  19. As for Sofia's comment on the Nick Cave best album nod, fantastic!! I love this latest Cave effort, one of the best in his career in my opinion!!

And I think we are instore for a brand new Cure website coming real soon, perhaps the October 13th surprise Robert was mentioning in his post about the album delay to the 28th!

  21. Oh. Good old Walt Disney. You know. I bought all these Disney films for my one year old nephews to watch when I babysit them. Bambi, Snow White, Cinderella.

But you know what show they are most fascinated with? Jeopardy. I don't know why. But they can't take their eyes off Jeopardy.

Oh man, and I watched Old Yeller on some movie channel on Sunday. Cried my wittle eyes out :(

  23. BTW: I voted a hundred times, but something in me thinks all the crazy pop-obsessed teens out there )who have nothing better to do than vote all day for their favorites) will win...

Who cares though, because at least The Cure is on the list in the first place, that's cool enough for me =>

    ReplyDelete
  24. anah---I agree with you, those damn Jonas Bros or Miley are going to win!
Almost every teenager I know loves this pop crap!

I'll keep on voting. You never know they might get on the final list. And It would be cool The Cure makes if they actually won!

V- I'm surprised you didn't know. I saw a pic of the aformentioned tile once. It says something like "Mary + Robert, 1992" or something like that.

  32. Hey dj & cure kitty :D

MTV do suck BIG TIME. They used to be alright, but now they're all commercial crap. :P

cure kitty, so happy to know another Cure fan who loves Franz, too! I was hoping that we could get a Cure album AND a Franz album in one year...well, looks like it's not going to happen. I'm really looking forward to the new Franz album, too :)

  35. the grammy's and mtv music awards are a farce...clearly they do not award people based on musical talent....why bother even wasting time with it...is rsx avign a mifd life crisis...(e.g. the whole emo boy band groupie phase he is into?)

when "manufactured" acts hem miley, nysync, Brittney walk away with awards , its time to just walk away..unless they are fucking spinal tap

  36. Regarding the Robert and Mary tile...

I faintly recall reading about Robert signing a wall or some other fixture within a ride at Universal Studios, Florida. But, I don't remember hearing anything about their mark being left at Walt Disney World in Florida.

I would hope that I would recall this correctly, as I visit WDW quite often.

    Any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have a faint memory of someone putting up a picture of writing on a wall that was meant to be Robert and Mary. But my memory is not what it used to be ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. On topic: great to see The Cure getting some recognition, even if it is for MTV... I wonder who mighty U is voting for? humm...

    ReplyDelete
  39. V: A long time ago (the 80's?), Robert and Mary got one of the tiles inscribed for them. There are like a million tiles with people's names, memorials, etc on the walkways there. It was impossible for me to find it unless I know which part of the park it was in.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. As far as I know, there have been two "personalized" items programs at Walt Disney World in Florida.

First, you have to know which park the item is in...

    1) The Leave A Legacy program: first launched at Epcot in Fall 1999, was discontinued as of June 16, 2007. The current display of more than 550,000 metallic tiles at the main entrance of Epcot will remain for the time being.

    2) Walk Around the World Bricks - These bricks in front of the Magic Kingdom, along the paths to the Ticket and Transportation Center and to the Contemporary, were sold to folks wishing to commemorate their visits to Walt Disney World. Sales are no longer available.

So, any idea which one it might be?

  41. Not exactly the best topic to do this in, but yeah. Anybody else heard the Hypnagogic States EP yet? It really sucks as hard as I thought it would. "The Perfect Boy" remix is the biggest rip-off of Close To Me that I think I've ever heard. No surprise that Pete Wentz hasn't a sliver of creativity in his emo little body. The 65daysofstatic remix is the only decent thing on the disc. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Kate, I'm not sure which park. I thought it was in The Magical Kingdom, and was a footpath tile? I read it a very long time ago, in a magazine. Before the interweb. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  43. i voted lk 20 times!! i hope they win!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Boring day... there are new hypnagogic clips on Amazon... but I haven't been able to sample them yet.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm still voting!

kate--I remember reading about the tile thing too but I can't remember where it's located.

Wish I kept all my old music magazines I used to have with all that important information!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why are The Cure not nominated for Best Act ever?

They should be nominated --- and should easily win ---- Bestest Act In The History Of Ever

    LOL

    imho

    ReplyDelete
  47. @ clockwise cat .......

yes, there abso-fucking-lutely should be a catagory for that!!!

    ;)

unfortuneately, it would'nt all fit onto the award, lol
