New posts from Robert

There is a press release up on the official site, but the best part is Robert's thoughts that he's posted in the comments. I'll post them here, since we know that they will be buried by nonsense very soon. : )

LUCKY 13?
9/8/2008 5:53:52 PM - by CURE:ROBERT

IN A YEARS TIME I DOUBT ANYONE WILL REMEMBER THE RELEASE DATE...

AND THE SAD REALITY IS THAT FAR FROM EMBRACING MY 13TH CONCEPT (DESPITE MY BEST EFFORTS)
THE MIGHTY U HAVE CHOSEN TO TOTALLY IGNORE IT AS THEY SCHEDULE THEIR RELEASES AROUND A USA TUESDAY... AND BUSINESS IS BUSINESS...

IN FACT ''THE ONLY ONE' WAS INDEED THE ONLY ONE OF THE FIVE RELEASES SO FAR TO GET OUT ON A 13TH - AND THEN... PLAN 13 FELL APART AS FAR BACK AS JUNE!

AND THE NEXT 13TH THAT FALLS ON A TUESDAY?

JANUARY 2009...

SO OCTOBER 28TH IT WILL BE!

RSX

PS
NOT SURE IF IT WILL BE OUT ON THE 27TH EVERYWHERE ELSE...BUT THEN I'M NOT SURE TMU IS SURE EITHER!

PPS
OCTOBER 28TH IS THE 301ST DAY OF THE YEAR... SO THERE IS A 1 AND A 3 IN THERE SOMEWHERE AFTER ALL!!! YAY!!!

DELAY? WHAT DELAY?!!
9/8/2008 5:43:06 PM - by CURE:ROBERT

SO THE ALBUM IS OUT 13 DAYS LATER THAN PLANNED (WELL... AS LONG AS THE INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE BENDS TO FIT THE STORY? OR IF WE RUN FAST ENOUGH EAST... )

HOWEVER EXCITING THINGS START HAPPENING HERE ON THE 13TH OCTOBER...

MORE NEWS WHEN HYPNAGOGIC HAS BEEN BORN

RSX

PS
WE CANT MAKE IT HALLOWEEN BECAUSE THE MIGHTY U DONT RELEASE ON FRIDAYS... AND THERES ME WORRYING ABOUT THE FLEXIBILITY OF THE IDL!!!

And Robert? I would have absolutely no problem with releasing the album on Jan. 13th, 2009. : )

  1. craig, O_o hmmm...before you said you wouldnt mind if it came out in october because you like october. now you don't mind january?

a puzzle. wrapped in bacon wrapped in an enigma!

  2. October is great for Halloween. Jan. is great for my birthday. : )

  3. AGAIN, I LOVE HIM. His writing style is irresistibly cute. Of course, I am feeling excessively hormonal.

But why did he post in the comments instead of on the front page??

    ReplyDelete
  4. OK, well, as i said before, Rsx has already spoken.

Again ¡¡¡ Cheers to him !!!!

If i don´t get his words wrong, he fully blame the (Un)Mighty U. Music for this new failure.

To my eyes, is totally clear that The Cure has to move apart out U. Music right after finish their contract with them.

It´s almost unbelievable that a band as big as The Cure has to pass through this mess.

Now I´m quiet after read the Rsx comments, and i don´t know why, but, his words has a certain taste of he´s indeed reading what we all post around here.

    Don´t you think ?

    :)

  5. How could he not know that the US releases new music and dvds every Tuesday?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Robert lives in his own little world. And isn't that why we all love him?
    : )

  7. I have a feeling Robert and I would be great friends if I ever had the chance to get to know him. :) delaying the album just gives us more time to be excited about the release :)

  8. *waves to mad bob*

i dont understand the US always releasing new music on tuesday. it gets so boring and predictable, and its unfair to the other days of the week.

yes, JANUARY. then we can party in new orleans during tour.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I love you Robert, Thank You!

  10. This new date is SMACK DAB between my birthday and Halloween. So I'll take it. :-)

    And I love Robert's little "there's a 1 and a 3 in there somewhere" remark. Cute.

  11. I love reading Robert's comments. It is his intellect and wit that I love, after all.

    *tingles all over*

  12. January? It would be a great way to start off 2009!

    ReplyDelete
  13. October 13th or 28th or Janurary 13th, doesn't really matter to me, as long as it is an official release date! No more delays!

And it's great to hear from Robert & to have some good news. Too bad the whole 13th release date idea got fucked up by Universal but hey at least Robert tried! October 28th is just around the corner. Just tack on 13 more days till we can finally hear it, I can deal with that! I can't wait to get it in my hands & playing in my CD player!

    I AM TOTALLY EXCITED!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Robert's commets are so funny & cute!

Damn he's just so fucking funny & cute too!

    I'm loving it!

  15. I just can't help but love and adore him. Whenever you can get the album out honey is fine with me.

I've got a bad case of the fangirl giggles in me tonight! :p

This news makes me so damn Happy Happy even with the extra days we have to wait!

  20. That's what I'm saying - Robert talks to us and suddenly we're all "oh, it's ok. I don't mind. Isn't he just the cutest". His posts are full of magic or something. They do something to us :)

    I don't care though - I FREAKING LOVE IT!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I have to admit reading roberts post kind of excites me too :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm a guy and even I love Robert...

Told you there'd be another delay though. Although it wasn't exactly hard to see coming.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Any thoughts on what the "Ill Cure" picture at the top of the Official Shite post is inferring?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Andrew, you just made me giggle. How can anyone not love Robert is beyond me! I think just hearing from him makes us feel special again..there's hope..there's another tour....sigh.

I love what Trent Reznor did with UMG/Interscope, said f___ them and went independent. Speaking of NIN, Cat - I could envision 65DOS opening for them and Deerhunter opening for The Cure.

    Mogwai tomorrow night!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I see also that the news clarifes one point which has been debated here recently.

"All four of these chart topping singles will appear on The Cure’s 13th studio album, 4:13 Dream, which will be released on Suretone/Geffen Records October 27th/28th."

Well, that's part of it anyway... 8X

As far as the JANUARY thing... You, April, and DJ, all are crazy and need to seek the help of a mental health professional. I mean, I know it's your birthday and all Craig but, I CAN'T WAIT NO MORES.

I am outraged that Geffen would DEFY the All Powerful and Valorous Smith.
Who the fuck does Geffen think they are anyway?!
My hormonal indignation will not be easily appeased!

Godammit, what is up with this "hormone", "cycle", epidemic thing that seems to be spreading? Maybe it's the moon phases.... ARGH!!!!!!!! I need an asprin.

  27. The Cure really need to get out of their contract with Universal. They have no idea how to market them or how to please their fanbase. Robert may be unorganised but the mighty (or should that be shitey) U are in a class of their own.

    ReplyDelete
  28. hush your mouth their craig : ) I would certainly have a big problem waiting till Jan...I've had enough and I wants it now!

    ReplyDelete
  29. so what do you guys think we can expect on Oct. 13? I'm betting revamp of the website

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah a revamp of the website seems likely. Also seems likely it won't be updated then until the next album comes out :P

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would imagine so, Baad.I Bloody well hope so.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a parting of the ways with Geffen/Shitey U (like it Andrew!) once thier current contract is up.

Again, I bloody well hope so!

Janurary! Craig, you've got to be kidding me!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Clearly we'd be waiting for a very long time if it was "Janurary".

    January would be bad enough.

    Quite right!

  36. Last week we were all on pins and needles about you Craig, and now that we know you're safe and sound, all is well in Cure Land. And even better, COF is jumping with all kinds of News and RS comments, Loves it.

    :D

  37. I may wait and buy the new album on Nov 13th as a sort of protest! I am getting up there in age so maybe I knew at one time but I did not know they only release new music on Tuesdays. I knew there was something about DVD's on Tuesdays and I realize now that movies are usually released on Thursdays, though it seems there have been exceptions to this. Ohe well, I think I am going to wait until Nov 13th as my protest against Shitty U, and honoring RSX

    ReplyDelete
  38. I was so pleasured to hear it was the fault of the mighty 'U'(nables)....and not robs descision...'cause in that case...i don't know...kind of REAL dissapointment. never mind! bob is sooooocute and universal can sooooo go home!

  40. And whoever made reference here or in another thread to the "Fuck Universal Tour" - you are my new best friend. I almost spit out my diet cherry Pepsi when I read that.

    ReplyDelete
  41. "I had a feeling the "13th every month" plan wouldn't work out since record companies generally only release things in the US on Tuesdays. It's not just Universal."

Then why is it that the new Metallica album gets a Friday release (September 12)?

    ReplyDelete
  42. And I have an idea for the Oct 13 present: a new song, called 'Do the Universal' is given us for free download! I'd feel great! :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. They've jerked us around this long. What is yet another two weeks?

There does seem to be a lack of organization, though. Delaying a tour to finish the album. Then delaying the album to concentrate on a tour. And then all these last minute delays on the new album. 9/13. 10/13. 10/27. I don’t remember things ever being this disorganized.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I said it before and I'll gladly say it again: Universal is the worst major out there, totally lazy and sloppy all around. I can't even start telling you all the mistakes they do with their movie/dvd releases, but it's a lot, way more then all the other studios...
    ...possibly combined!
Seriously. This studio is going down the drain. I'm sure one day it'll end up being bought by another studio, à la Colombia/MGM.

That being said: very happy to have what looks like an official release date! Yay! Bring on 4:13 Dream, can't wait to see what shape that dream finally takes form!

    ReplyDelete
  45. haha!

"Do the Universal" is a wonderfully appropriate name for a song. :)

Craig - once again thank you for this blog. I totally would have missed Mr. Smith's posts in the comments if you hadn't have posted them here.

More news after Hypnagogic is born....as the saying goes around here "It's an exciting time to be a Cure fan."

Charlotte show Charlotte show Charlotte show!!!

  46. Morris - hd.net has The Cure listed as "coming this fall." There's not a date yet, but I'm hoping there will be some news about it soon.

    ReplyDelete
  47. il vas avoir un autre dvd le 30septembre (the document )

    ReplyDelete
  48. Scott, movies are never released on Thursdays. Music and DVDs come out every Tuesday, while new movies come out in the theater every Friday (although some big films come out on Wednesdays).

    ReplyDelete
  49. Eep! I am so excited about the new album... dragging out the release date makes me want to pee my pants! :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Arrg. Yet another lesson in patience. Sigh.

Oh, who am I kidding? Damn! But at least my pouting is tempered by that silly sense of humor in Robert's posts. A spoonful of sugar makes U's nasty medicine go down.

  51. I GET WET JUST THINKING ABOUT THE CHARLOTTE CONCERT.

Sorry, it was just some psycho-sexual experience on my part. Carry on.

Or perhaps just psycho... maybe I am...

  52. 28th Oct is my 37th birthday...
just strip 7 into 1 and that's it reversed ! you can guess yours now !! YAY !! :-))))

  53. abu - metallica gets a friday because its to prevent pirated copies of their albums from spilling out

turns out movies come out on friday and music on tuesday cause it has something do with calculating the week's sales

  59. Well, October 31 is my wedding anniversary and January 2 is my birthday. But January 13 is my daughter's birthday. Hrmmm???? At least I'll buy it for one of these reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm really glad to see we finally appear to have a definitive release date.

However, a lot of you Bob worshippers seem to be relishing in pointing the finger at big bad Universal for this debacle of a new album release which is going on TWO AND A HALF YEARS, instead of understanding and realising that Bob himself is the main reason for these delays.

I've do accept though that Universal no doubt havent exactly been helpful either

    Lets not forget the history here ;

    1. Bob first said in a press conference at a festvial in spain(?) that this album would be released on his birthday in 2006

    2. He then said it would be Hallowe'en 2006

    3. Then it was Autumn 2007

    4. Then Spring 2008

    5. Then September 13th 2008

    6. Then October 13th 2008

and now October 28th 2008 because aparently Universal insist it goes out on a tuesday like all their north american releases. Why not October 14th or 21st then ?

I'm hoping the album will be worth the long wait, and judging by the material so far I believe it will but please dear psycophants wake up and smell the coffee..

    ReplyDelete
  61. anah: well, we were both very close to jumping the barrier... maybe you were closer than I was... LOL... I can't be held responsible for my actions at future Cure gigs, that is all I can say... and hey, girls used to get onto stage all the time... why not now?? :-)

Keith: Actually, I put all the delay blame on RS... but if the music blows me the fuck away that's all that matters. Sure, the delays damage The Cure's professional credibility... but it's the MUSIC that matters, and the MUSIC that can redeem their reputation as being a wildly unfocused band. And besides, I gather than RSX NEEDS this type of tumult and chaos in his life in order to thrive creatively...

My point is: the delays, though frustrating, mean NADA in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Keith,
of course the delay is all Robert's fault. If Universal is to blame it's for all the technical screw-ups that always happens when they are in charge.
Believe me, I know. I own (and I'm not saying this to brag or anything) just about a little more than a thousand movies on dvd, and apart from some French companies, no other Major out there's got so many problems on so many levels.

So there's no surprises from me if they're not respecting Bob's release plans, and botching this or that. They do it all the time.
So please, while you do have valid points that I agree on, no need to insult.
