  3. I am really diggin some of these remixes, especially The Perfect Boy, sounds like Close To Me!! Great Job Fall Out Boy, cant' believe I'm saying that. And Exploding Head Syndrome is really good! Different, but good. Will be buying it on Tuesday, but great to get to hear it early!!

  5. Coming in the mail somewhen in the near future, hopefully.

  6. I thought the Ep would be available on iTunes... The singles were all available on the release date. Why not this one? Another curiosity from the "mighty" U??

  7. Who knows? With Uni, there's no logic involved.

  8. I'd have to say the highlights are the very first and last song. I love the prominent guitar in the 30 seconds mix. It sounds so very "curish". A lot of the stuff inbetween is very techno. Than the last part of the 65 days mix (Perfect Boy) is great as well. Very climactic ending with the strumming guitar over and over again. Not bad overall.

  9. ALSO... The Perfect Boy mix at the end of the 65 Days mix sounds A LOT quieter than the other 3 songs in their mix. My copy or is that way all around?

  10. zach how dare you infer it was a rush job! lol

  11. Ok right...I know I am going to get killed for this but the 30 seconds remix is FUCKING AWESOME.

I kid you not, I love it. I barely understand how or why but all logic has been defied but that crazy Jared Leto has done something....good?

  12. 30 second remix is fucking amazing..
I just can't stop singing it...
    Ooooooh....Oooooh...

Hope the album version has some of it..;-)
    Cheers

  13. Glad some likes it.

Wants to get my hands on this, anything to help pass the Cure blues.

  14. Hypna is out, fine, so now Rob where are the news concerning the new album that you promised, uh?
    :)

  15. I think Rob meant for the official release date, thus the 13th.

    Saturday I'll be tuning in!

  16. As I have hyperbolically gushed previously, I really really really enjoyed listening to the 65 remix. I may or may not like the others; we'll see. But I feel very confident that regardless, this EP is worth the purchase. The remixed songs lend a sort of cubist perspective to the originals - as remixes can do - and have a whimsical dancey touch that is infectious. The FS mix was my least favorite, possibly owing to my fervent love for FS, but the SWID, TOO, and TPB were just awesome! I wish I had sent it to myself at work so I could listen to it while I grade god-awful boring papers! :-)

Anyway, my murky mood yesterday has been fully lifted by this remix! I guess I am easy to please... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  17. ...or displease? ;)
as you're often in a foul mood!!

Don't mind me, I just have too much time on my hands, posting left and right like that.

  18. I guess I am somewhat volatile at times, hynreck, yes, but often I come across as more peeved than I really am in a given situation. :-)

So you haven't heard any of it yet ohter than the clips?

  19. I'm too busy singing along to the 30 seconds Remix of The Only One. I think I like it as much as the original. Never Ever EVER thought I would type that.

    ReplyDelete
  20. So seth frost... is yours noticably quieter at the end of the 65 days mix as well?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've only listen once to that 17min. preview, don't want to spoil myself too much, plus all the little snippets before.

The strangest thing is: for all it's flaws, I find myself humming Falloutboy's Perfect Boy mix. It's not my favorite at all, far from it, but isn't it funny how sometimes bad songs keep getting stuck in your mind? It does have a beat to it... and the core song is genius (of course) so I've got my excuses laid out...

...but I might be doomed. I keep mentally slapping myself "bad bad boy! you shouldn't like this song" so my mind will wander to the beginning of 65dos' mix (the only one) on Robert's slow almost lamenting voice and think: beautiful, that's it. Then that beat will come creeping in again.

  22. I enjoyed the 30STM take on TOO, and the 65DOS is very creative with their remixes. It would have been a lot of fun had they worked all 4 songs one into the other. But given the time they had to do this, it is very good.

The other remixes are rubbish, IMO.
    TPB is simply awful.

I have bought the singles, and the EP should be on its way soon, but I think the whole idea of one single a month just didn't work as RS expected. Thanks Mighty U.

  23. Hmmm my 65days remix is quieter at the end too. Strange that.

  24. Nice for the Aussies to get something earlier for once. :)

  25. As I said in a previous post I think some of the remixes are good, way better than I expected. The Only One remix is pretty good, clever use of the guitar intro that is sorely lacking from the single. Really good.

Freakshow remix ROCKS! It's truly fantastic, well maybe that's because I've gotten fond of club music.. But it kicks ass, best of the bunch!

Was kind of disappointed in Sleep remix, it just sounds too much like the single, it's way too ordinary, too "safe". Decent, no more no less.

And now the worst of the lot.. The Perfect Boy remix downright sucks.. Completely ruins the magic of the song. Worth a listen, but that's it..

And now the most talked-about.. 65 Days of Static remix of all the singles.. It's pretty fantastic, like perfect boy remix best, then freakshow as close second and the only one third and last sleep when I'm dead. Remix is organic, a lot of different sounds and just when you know what will come next it completely changes.. Great remix! 21:26 minutes of goodness..

Surely, if rob did the remixes himself it would kick more serious ass, but as it sounds it's pretty decent. Worth a buy, at least a listen. And considering as all the royalties go to charity everyone should buy a copy, even if you think it is crap. I think.

Now looking forward to hearing the album!! Hopefully the album version of the singles will sound different, not that "mix 13" ones aren't good, but the "mix 13" part of the singles sound strange indeed.. Hmm.. only time will tell!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I do hope the singles on the album are different. Not too much, just enough that we can hear a difference.
If it's only some 2 or 3 seconds tacked on the beginning and end I'll be a bit disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  27. so i listened to the preview of the perfect boy and i'm pretty sure that Fall Out Boy took the drum beat from their song 'Dance Dance' (i shouldn't know this, i know) and put it on the track. if you listen to 'Dance Dance' the beat sounds identical.

well, at least that's what it soulds like from the preview.

  28. After trying out songwriting, singing, acting, and playing guitar, has Jared Leto finally found something he's talented at? Remixing other people's songs!

I'm just kidding I haven't listened and I don't really care to. Maybe when I have 5 bucks to waste later on.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ok I wasn't going to listen to the entire full versions of the mixes until I got a hard copy but a friend sent me a link to them last night & I couldn't resist.

And I'm surprised that they are pretty good. Didn’t think these musicians could have done a decent job with the exceptions of 65DOS but they did. Well the one by FOB is questionable. I'm mot liking it at all.

So the Best of the bunch is the 65DOS mix! I love it! Quite different from the others and I love how all 4 songs combine into once contiguous mix. They did an outstanding job!

With the others, SWID & FS mixes are good, I guess I like them because they are quite clubby sounding & I do like that sort of stuff. The Jerod Leto mix is better than I expected but I'm not really into TPB mix. Sounds like a cheap rip-off for Close to Me and I really can’t stand anything Pete Wentz does.

But all in all it’s not as bad as I expected. So I do plan of getting the EP once I get back from vacation next week. It's good but I don't need to have it ASAP.

  30. This The Perfect Boy remix is so fucking awful. God, how can somebody get this into such a bunch of shit? Aaaawwwhhh...
IMO the other three remixes are pretty good. The Only One ist awesome, this turns the song into a complete other direction and atmosphere... good job by Leto.
65 days of static remix is solid... not more not less.

  31. i think andy;s link should be taken down i am sure it violates someones copyright somewhere....

since this whole bashing me witht he links things happned anytime a bootleg (e/g shrine) comes up...better get it while oyu can,,,ima let mighty u know since obviously thats the right thing to do,,,since we all know hypnagogic states deserves the same prevervation

  32. The 65 Days of Static mix is outstanding. Worth the purchase.

    Or maybe I'm stoned.

Either way, the songs actually went through a real change via 65 Days of Static, I'm happy for that.

  33. I think someone's having a fit; that would explain the keyboard problems; shaky fingers and all.

  34. LMAO @ hynreckandjoe

I was thinking the same thing.

  35. Only 11 hours and I will have Hypnagogic States in my hot, little hands!
JB HiFi Perth have them in stock already, and Exploding Boy and I will be picking up our four copies tonight. Woohoo!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. The WORST by far, is The Perfect Boy remix, that one especially blows. All 3 minutes and 51 seconds of it!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Woohoo - Exploding Boy and I decided we couldn't wait until after work - so it was a lunchtime date! Guess what I've got!!!!!

It's just a shame my pc hasn't got speakers, so I won't be able to listen until the drive home :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. 65daysofstatic did a good job. the songs are more interesting now (but still not good).

i think a new 65dos album would be the better choice...

    ReplyDelete
  39. I can't believe I have done such a reversal that I am now excited for this EP. I plan to buy a 65 DOS CD while I'm at the store tomorrow, too. Any other CD suggestions? I got some money to blow. Okay, not really, but I enjoy blowing money I don't have... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well, I gave it a listen, and wow, I am so impressed with this! I was kind of... holding my breath, as it were, but I like it a lot! It goes without saying that the 65 DOS stuff kicks ass... particularly the SWID for me. I am also so impressed with the 30 Secs mix of TOO... love it! SWID was good stuff. I enjoyed FS a lot, it had a kind of nostalgic feel to me. I actually like the variety of the whole EP, some dancier tracks, some moodier, etc. Overall, I think everyone involved did a great job. I have to disagree with everyone's outright hatred of the FOB TPB mix, though not their criticism. IMO, it's definitely not awful - I enjoyed it on the first listen and I think that for what it is, it's a good effort - but it's just waaaaaaay too poppy for my tastes, and I don't imagine that I will listen to it more than a handful of times. I don't doubt that fans of more commercial music might really get into it, and maybe from there find a way into really alternative, kick-ass music... The Cure. :^D

  43. Hypnagogic States is up on iTunes Japan.

No sign of any bonus track there. It's not up yet on the UK or US store; I guess I'll check back around midnight.
