Robert posts

Robert has posted at the official site, talking about the frustration of the single being hard to find, the new website, the single vs. double album choice and the "Dark Album" at Christmas.

  1. I looked for the single in 3 places today without any luck. The usually reliable Newbury Comics had no information on it. I'm bummed.

  2. " JUST FEEL ON REFLECTION THAT MAKING THE NEW ALBUM A 'SINGLE' (WHATEVER THAT MEANS... 8 TRACKS?"

    I hope not, Robert!

  3. JPX - If you're looking for the US single, it doesn't come out until next tuesday (the 20th).

  7. I doubt Robert reads this, but just one for the cosmos, THANKS ROBERT!

I myself, was pretty fretful about the perceivably ambiguous reasons, but knew it was a 50/50 that Robert was the decider. He is. And thank god for that, because I have faith in him, and none in any label.
I can't wait for the next Cure album!!!
I am also so relieved that Robert had the sense and graciousness to put our fears of "losing" songs to rest. He could play the kazoo and I'd wanna hear it...oh wait, he did!
Here's to the next album, and the one after that(!!!)
    :)
    I love you Robert!

  8. I want the Christmas album on a CD, though. Frak the downloads. And, Craig, the most recent episode of BSG was a nice return to form!

  9. Muld - he said it WOULD be on cd too.
Haven't seen the new BSG yet. That last episode was very so-so. A little good with a lot of bad.

  10. Last tuesday I went to our local eletronic market, on to the music department and ask for the only one. they had to look it up, hadn't ordered it of course and so I had to order one for me personally.

When I got it on last friday I said "I hope you ordered some more b/c otherwise it's no wonder it won't be in the charts - nobody is able to find it in the store". she mumbled something like she had ordered it but there is little interest. that was probably a lie b/c on tuesday there was no sign they ordered copies by themselves.

  11. Let me get this straight - after all these release and tour delays, before this new album is even released, before the supposed final track listing is finalized, before all of this - Robert is promising another album this year?

    Did I read that correctly?!?!?!?!?

  12. Hey, Craig, I'm so relieved after rereading Robert's post a few minutes ago. I totally misread it. Hard copy, yes! That makes everything okay!

I'm glad you and I agree on the last episode. I didn't read the writers' names involved (don't tell me) because I'm writing reviews and don't want to be prejudiced, but it felt like a Weddle and Thompson episode; those guys are all about the action and weak on dialogue and drama. The one scene I liked was the commentary about the nature of occupation and terrorism in the interaction between the Number 6 and the woman; great stuff because you could sympathize with both perspectives. Everything else could have been much better written by Ron Moore; just re-watch any episode he's written; it's another level of work; apparently he paid such close attention to rewriting every little detail in Season 1, and was more hands off afterward, though he still does a polish.

The latest thankfully feels like a bit of a return to form -- more texture, but not quite as great as a typical Ron Moore episode.

  13. Glad to see it wasn't just me having issues understanding Robert's post; I read it three times over and still wasn't sure if I was understanding it right. Not one of his clearest messages it must be said. Anyway, can't wait for a dark Christmas album: it would be the best present possible =)

  14. robert never writes clear messages. you always have to decode and deconstruct them to get at the heart of what he's saying - and even then you're still uncertain. he has a rather opaque way of expressing himself in prose writing. it matches his rather ambiguous personality, me thinketh.

  15. My local HMV only stocks the top ten singles!!! How STUPID is that? How does anything get into the top ten if you can't buy it??!?!!!

    Now ordered from Amazon.

I can't wait to get Sleep When I'm Dead on CD; I do hope they release it as a single.

  16. Dark Christmas album. How cool would that be?!?! However, I tend to share KentButabi's skepticism.

  17. maybe the Christmas album will have a cover of 'Christmas Wrapping' by the Waitresses on it as a hidden track - I can imagine them doing it pretty well
