As most of you know, and for whatever reason, 'Killing An Arab' was not included on the remastered 'Three Imaginary Boys' CD in 2004. But Vikk may have found the remastered version on 'The Best of The Cure' CD, which was released in 2009 by Universal Music Lebanon. Take a listen and see what you think. Is that our missing track? (Thanks Vikk)
Update: Actually, this was released in the Ukraine by Moon Records, as discovered by the excellent thecurerecords.com. (Thanks JC)

Further clarification from Robert
Posted in the comments at the official site: "I HOPED MY BESTIVAL COMMENT WAS CLEAR ENOUGH..."AS OF DECEMBER 3RD 2010, THIS IS THE ONLY CURE PERFORMANCE OF ANY DESCRIPTION BOOKED FOR 2011". BUT TO BE EVEN CLEARER...WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING ROCK IN RIO. WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE. WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING A LONDON SHOW IN THE SPRING... ETC ETC... IF THERE ARE TO BE ANY OTHER CURE LIVE PERFORMANCES IN 2011, THEY WILL BE ANNOUNCED HERE FIRST... ANYTHING ELSE ANYWHERE ELSE IS AS EVER MERE SPECULATION! TO GO...RSX"

Songwords (Expanded) for iPad
"I purchased an iPad many months ago and have loved reading books on it, I figured it would be great to make an ePub of Cure lyrics, so I developed the attached ePub that I've dubbed Songwords (Expanded)." (Thanks Nick)
Wear your Cure shirts today
BBC 6 Music is doing their Wear Your Old Band T-shirt To Work Day today, and a couple of Cure shirts have made it in to the gallery. Here's Benj - front/back (wearing one of my all-time favorite Cure shirts) and Timothy proudly wearing their shirts today. (Thanks Benj)
Bestival statement from Robert
Robert has posted this comment at the official site:
"creeeeeak... AS OF DECEMBER 3RD 2010, THIS IS THE ONLY CURE PERFORMANCE OF ANY DESCRIPTION BOOKED FOR 2011... WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING ANY OTHER EUROPEAN FESTIVALS, AND UNLESS SOMETHING REMARKABLE HAPPENS, WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING ANY OTHER EUROPEAN SHOWS! THIS IS AS CLEAR AND AS DEFINITE AS WE CAN BE... SO IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE 120+ MINUTES OF THE CURE NEXT YEAR (AS WELL AS A DAZZLING PANOPLY OF OTHER GREAT ACTS) WE WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU GO TO BESTIVAL! (HOWEVER, IF YOU LIVE IN SOUTH AMERICA, YOU MIGHT CONSIDER WAITING A WHILE BEFORE BOOKING YOUR TICKET... YOU NEVER KNOW... ) ONWARDS! RSX"

Entreat Plus marble vinyl unpack movie
Just so they can rub the salt in the wounds of all North American fans. Bastards. : )
Cure play Bestival 2011!
The Cure have announced that they will be headlining Bestival on Sept. 10th, 2011. It is being billed as their only European show of 2011 (actually, Robert's quote says "only European festival show"). Tickets are available now. Not a rumor, not a dream, The Cure are playing live again! Thanks for the early Christmas present, RS!
BBC 6 Music has an interview with Rob Da Bank about the show.
Update: About that "only European show in 2011" vs. "only European festival show in 2011" bit - "I’ve asked the promoter to clarify that. RS signed off the press release as it is but he may have overlooked the discrepancy so I’ll let you know once he comes back to me."
And about single day tickets - "There aren’t any plans at the moment to sell day tickets this year but have asked the promoter to confirm that, again once he comes back to me then you’ll be the first to know." (Thanks Aidan)

Rumor: Cure play Rock en Seine Aug. 2011
Update: Looks like we can officially mark this one as wishful thinking/dreaming.
Happy (Vegan/Vegetarian) Thanksgiving! Here's something else to be thankful for...the first rumored live date for 2011 (translated from Zegut):
"In the last week of August 2011, the Park lands of St. Cloud, I'll see on the Main Stage of the Rock en Seine, Foo Fighters, The Strokes. And then I had a vision of a crow on acid, The Cure. As usual, all such statements self-destroy in 5 seconds, and I deny having written anything."
Just a rumor, and nothing confirmed just yet, so please don't buy tickets to the show based on this. Can any of our French friends help with this? How reliable is this blog? Does it sound like this is just a wish, or saying he's leaking real info that he has?
(Thanks Calmin)

Andy Samberg as Robert Smith on SNL
(Thanks Aaron)

On tonight's episode of Saturday Night Live (Anne Hathaway hosting), Andy Samberg played Robert Smith in the "Horse Play Soundtrack" sketch. If you recorded it and want to get right to it, it was the final sketch of the show, after the 2nd song from Florence and the Machine. And I'm sure it will be up at NBC, Hulu, or YouTube soon.

Early release for Entreat Plus vinyl
IGA has updated the official site with details on a Dec. 6th release for the Entreat Plus vinyl at the Universal store.
Note: "This a strictly limited and numbered edition that is only available from the Universal Cure store. Each disc is manufactured with its own unique pattern: no two discs are identical. The marble effect pattern on the vinyl is not printed but is created as part of a manufacturing process which means every disc will display a unique marbling effect, with the colours chosen to be sympathetic to the front cover artwork."
This appears to be unavailable to North American fans, most likely due to Elektra/Rhino having the rights in this region (Elektra/Rhino is releasing it here, not Universal), though that's only a guess at this time.

Not In Love chart news
Not In Love is #1 on NME's 10 Tracks You Have To Hear This Week, and is #7 on the FM4 chart in Austria. It also entered the NME singles chart at #17, but that appears to be the non-Robert version. The Robert version won't be officially released until Dec. 6th. (Thanks Aaron, Drowning, and David)
And here's an article from RVA Magazine about some of Robert's collaborations over the last few years. (Thanks David)

Steven Severin interview
Left Lion has an interview with Steven Severin, and there were a couple of Cure/Glove questions asked:
There were once rumours that you were asked to join The Cure; is this true? Is this something you would contemplate if you were asked now or are you happier when doing your own thing?
There is no truth in the rumour, at all. Robert would never ask. Why would Simon leave?
Would you ever work with Robert Smith again? Maybe a second The Glove album?
We've talked about it and Robert says "It's just a matter of time". Making space for it means effectively shutting down the Cure for 6 to 9 months. That's a huge machine with many people depending on it for their livelihoods so timing is key. One day, I hope. (Thanks Paul K)
Update: Slicing Up Eyeballs and CoS picked up the story.

Ross still making things difficult
Our old "friend" Ross Robinson, producer of 'The Cure', is still up to his old tricks. This time, even Korn are finding him tough to work with. (Thanks JC)
For those of you not around in 2004, Simon (and a few others in the band) felt the same way about Ross: "'He'd come in and he'd start throwing things around,'' Gallup recalls with annoyance. ''He didn't like us when we played note perfect. He wanted more passion, so he'd actually come up, and if I was trying to play note perfect he'd slam his hands across the bass. More than once he nearly got the bass sideways in his mouth. You couldn't leave the studio and turn that tension off. It was a very traumatic time for some of us, and not one I'd like to repeat.''
That's why we love Simon. : )

Crystal Castles interview
"Hi, just to let you know that Zane Lowe played Not in Love and interviewed Crystal Castles about it on his BBC Radio 1 show last tuesday. He describes it as 'amazing' and 'one of the most brilliant tunes of the year'. It's an interview with CC rather than RS but it does explain how they came together, and they do talk about RS a lot! You can listen here - it's 29 minutes in. Availible worldwide I think but only until Tuesday." (Thanks Danny)
Update: Download the segment here. "It now includes both Zane Lowe segments and a Fearne Cotton Radio 1 part where she speaks of the song." (Thanks Aaron)
And if you don't have the track yet, you can get it at Slicing Up Eyeballs and Stereogum. I love to see all of the praise it's getting. (Thanks SUE and Lars)

Robert on new Crystal Castles single
Update 2: Just brought to my attention that this is a cover of an old Platinum Blonde song from 1983. (Thanks Greg)
Update: It's up on Youtube! Loving it so far. (Thanks Aaron)
From NME: "The Cure's Robert Smith has lent his vocals to the new single by Crystal Castles. The Toronto digi-dance duo are releasing a new version of 'Not In Love' on December 6, with Smith on singing duties. The original version of the song features on the band's self-titled second album, released in May."
(Thanks Aaron)
Prefix and Gigwise also have articles about this. (Thanks Kate)
Update: You can read the lyrics to the song here and watch a video for the original version here.
