Cure clips at ina.fr

Update: Another tip from Perfect.Murder - "For those who absolutely have to see everything (yeah, me too :)), there are about 15 or so tv adverts which aired during the 90s and 00s. Go to"Recherchez sur ina.fr" (right handside of screen) type in "the cure" and replace "video" by "publicite" then in the box below in "Affiner la recherche publicite" click on 'Medias et editions (30). And voila!!....short ads from French tv...........ah the good old days!" Also, this direct link might work for you.

I've already posted many of the other Cure clips from ina.fr, but figured I'd collect them all in one place for those who might have missed them:

So, can anyone make anything out of this image? (Thanks John)
Update: Hmm, I think that image is actually last year's poster. I can make out Muse and My Chemical Romance, I think.

Making of the 'Just Like Heaven' video

Video clip posted at Ina.fr - Robert talks about the making of the 'Just Like Heaven' video & working with Mary (Rapido - Sept. 10th, 1987). And here's another clip.

If you'd like to buy the video, here's how: "create an account, then choose the vid you like and click "telecharger"(download) or "graver sur dvd"(burn on dvd)...it directs you to a site where you leave your credit card details, then it takes a couple of minutes to download and you're done." (Thanks Perfect.Murder)

And some stills that were sent to me yesterday from the full 37 min special.

Happy Birthday, NME!

NME turns 60 today, and John at On Nights Like This posted some of his Cure covers from various years, and this photo of his favorite issue (mine, too!).

Update on the UltraCure changes

This is the answer Rob got from Schecter president Michael Ciravolo about the UltraCure changes: "Since I mainly deal with Robert on his guitars… I thought I could shed some clarity on your new UltraCure.
First,,, with the intro of the UltraCure-VI this year…. Robert wanted the neck to be ‘clear like his old fender-6’ … meaning natural gloss maple. A little difficult since the guitar was a set-neck… so we had the joint taped off and only clear coated… giving the ‘bolt-on’ appearance . He liked this … so in late 2011 we started to transition the standard UltraCure to this also, at his insistence. This seems to be the version you have received from Drum City. Early 2011 models and older had the back of the neck painted to match.
The CURE logo on the back has gone thru a few changes … again, Robert changes his mind a lot J …. In addition to the Disintegration style (on the original versions) … there was small runs with both ‘upper C and lower C’ logos from the band’s early logo. Finally, with the 20 years of WISH coming up … he decided on this logo (for now) …
Other than that, the guitar has remained unchanged …. Except for a run of 6 guitars with a MAPLE fingerboard, as for a fleeting moment, he contemplated this change." (Thanks Rob)

Cure music helps trapped Russian girl

Russian girl trapped for 9 years in her mother's apartment says The Cure “music in my player made my dark days a bit brighter”, wants a poster of the band. (Thanks Vera)

Update (2-28-12): "I know a lot of us Cure fans were hoping to do something like send a Cure care package to the girl. Well, I’ve finally gotten in touch with the journalist that wrote the article and she would love to do something so I’m not sure if it would be easier to just send a few small things, since it is going to Russia, or how we should do it. Anna, the journalist, said she has had a hard time locating a poster and I know we can certainly come up with that. My email address they could reach me at is sjd8826(at)yahoo(dot)com" (Thanks Summer)

Personally, I would hope that the right people read this, and could maybe arrange for her to attend the show in Russia this Summer, and maybe get to meet the band and get a poster/cd/etc signed in person?

Photos from Super Rock Festival 1995

"Blitz, A Portuguese music magazine, has put online today some photos of The Cure at Super Rock Festival (Lisbon) backstage in 1995.
Rita Carmo, the photographer, says that she spend some time photographing the band and after that she took some Robert Smith photos even if Robert, at first, was not happy with the idea. He stood in front of camera for 5 minutes without moving most of the time." (Thanks Hugo)

Cure Special at The Albany in London

UltraCure help?

Update: Photos added.

Can anyone help Rob with this? Thanks!
"Do you know the history and the different versions of the Ultracure Guitar? (Black, standard model version and not the new VI). I just received a new Ultracure, but the back of the neck is maple colored and not black (fret board is still rosewood) and the "Cure" logo has changed to "Wish" era from the "Disintegration" era. The transition of the back of the neck to the base is the same maple to black coloring transition as the new VI...
How many versions have there been? Is the model I received brand new (I could not find any photos of it online- I got it from Guitar Center before Christmas and they were backordered until now - and the back does not match the picture online)? I wonder if the new standard version also has the new reinforced neck as the VI does?"

From Talenthouse: Secret 7" is an exciting project combining music and art in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Seven bands and recording artists are inviting creatives to design the artwork for a seven inch vinyl sleeve inspired by one of their songs. The project will culminate in 700 unique vinyl sleeves displayed in Idea Generation Gallery in London in the week leading up to Record Store Day 2012. On that day, each of the vinyls at the gallery will be available to purchase with all of the profits going to Teenage Cancer Trust.

In this challenge, The Cure have selected the track 'Friday I’m In Love’ and are inviting creatives to interpret the song, however they please, via an original piece of seven inch artwork. This is an incredible opportunity for aspiring artists and designers to collaborate with one of the world's most loved bands, to have their artwork seen by millions, be exhibited alongside established artists and in the process, raise valuable funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.
