Update: Photos added.
Can anyone help Rob with this? Thanks!
"Do you know the history and the different versions of the Ultracure Guitar? (Black, standard model version and not the new VI). I just received a new Ultracure, but the back of the neck is maple colored and not black (fret board is still rosewood) and the "Cure" logo has changed to "Wish" era from the "Disintegration" era. The transition of the back of the neck to the base is the same maple to black coloring transition as the new VI...
How many versions have there been? Is the model I received brand new (I could not find any photos of it online- I got it from Guitar Center before Christmas and they were backordered until now - and the back does not match the picture online)? I wonder if the new standard version also has the new reinforced neck as the VI does?"

prolly made by one of the vendors @ tradetang(dot)com...
ReplyDeleteI agree. You should return it. The logo on mine is "The Cure" era. The "C" has a flower around it. RS signature should be on the front of the head with a star.
ReplyDeleteupload a pic of the headstock, I have this guitar and it never had Disintegration font on it, it would not be from tradetang, he got it from guitar center and tradetang doesn't have it anyway.
ReplyDeleteOk...dumb questiion, How do I post the pictures? I'll forward to Craig...
ReplyDeleteRob
I assume mine is one of the first produced. The back of the head stock has The Cure from the 2004 "The Cure", and front has RS signature with the star. the whole body is a solid piece with total black finish sans the rosewood fretboard.
ReplyDeleteMine is the same as carnage visors
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to buy a Schecter buy it from Drum City Guitarland. http://www.drumcityguitarland.com They know the product inside and out. They do a great job setting up the guitar and their prices can't be beat. I bought my Ultra Cure the day they came out and ordered it from Drum City. I have access to loads of guitar shops in the LA area and I will only buy from a place in Colorado, go figure. Return that thing to Guitar Center and call Drum City. Trust me. I don't work for them or make any commission, but I know you will get the real deal from them as soon as Schecter as them available. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWould love to see photos.
ReplyDeleteMy Ultracure is the standard with 04 logo (with flowers), and RS star signature on front. All black back & front.
I would still like a look at this headstock
ReplyDeleteOkay, added the photos Rob sent. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteIt appears legit, just strange how they painted it at the set joint and not the rest of the way, they sometimes offer new blemished items, this could be one, did you pay full price? I believe it's 869.99 at GC
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pics by the way
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the New Schecter PDF you will see that the UltraCure specs have been changed for 2012.
ReplyDeleteThe neck used to be mahogany and it was painted black on the back.
But now it has obviously been changed to maple (Only the VI has the strength rods) as listed on the PDF. These updated UltaCures were also at namm.
I have one of the older UltraCures(2009) and I'm interested in getting one of the newer maple neck modles if anyones interested in a part exchange.
i like it :)
ReplyDeleteThe model changed late last year. The Maple neck helps with the muddy/woofy sound that the original had. It's still the same guitar though.
ReplyDeleteThe RS-1000 now has a maple neck as well??
ReplyDeleteThe RS-1000 now has a maple neck as well??
ReplyDeleteOh wait, I looked at old Schecter catalogues. The RS-1000 aways had a maple neck.
ReplyDeleteI e-mailed Schecter, but have not heard back yet....
ReplyDeleteKeep it!!! Wish font is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteHere is the reply from Schecter:

Since I mainly deal with Robert on his guitars… I thought I could shed some clarity on your new UltraCure.
First,,, with the intro of the UltraCure-VI this year…. Robert wanted the neck to be ‘clear like his old fender-6’ … meaning natural gloss maple. A little difficult since the guitar was a set-neck… so we had the joint taped off and only clear coated… giving the ‘bolt-on’ appearance . He liked this … so in late 2011 we started to transition the standard UltraCure to this also, at his insistence. This seems to be the version you have received from Drum City. Early 2011 models and older had the back of the neck painted to match.
The CURE logo on the back has gone thru a few changes … again, Robert changes his mind a lot J …. In addition to the Disintegration style (on the original versions) … there was small runs with both ‘upper C and lower C’ logos from the band’s early logo. Finally, with the 20 years of WISH coming up … he decided on this logo (for now) …
Other than that, the guitar has remained unchanged …. Except for a run of 6 guitars with a MAPLE fingerboard, as for a fleeting moment, he contemplated this change.
I hope this helps.
Michael
Thanks.
