    1. What if they're counted as pets?

    2. Inform security that they are paid performers, not pets. Crisis averted. :)

  3. Based on the rotation opener... Tonight is a 'Bloodflowers' bookend ('Out of This World'/'Bloodflowers').

    My predictions...

We haven't see 'The Top' encore since NOLA 1, however, they played a 'Top' encore on 2013 at the same venue. 50/50

El Paso isn't so 'pop' and 'casual' fan like Houston, Dallas... I could see the 'Faith' encore, 'Same Deep Water',... or something not done yet...

Bsides/rare tunes? 'Burn' certainly, it's a standard now (who the hell would have ever thought that possible...).

'Twilight Garden' will make a comeback, it's been a few nights. 'Exploding Boy'? I don't know, maybe.. hope that wasn't a one-off.

My bet is we see a more interesting set list tonight, because the next show is Vegas - which is a casino/casual crowd. Plus, Vegas has a tight curfew. In 2009 they ended the show before the last encore to push us out on the casino floor...

I'm betting on a historic night for El Paso with more surprises as they get closer to the LA 3x shows...

    1. I could still make it from Phoenix if I left right now.... hmmmmm

    2. Exploding Boy will not be a one-off. No way they went through the trouble of making a video for it, just to be played once.

      Delete
    3. I have a feeling tonight will be more for the "hardcore" fans with some picks for the "casual" fans. ...more like the NOLA sets.

      We
      Shall
      See
      ...
      Never know...

      It's NEVER ENOUGH!

    4. Craig,

I must have missed the video...there is an official video of the exploding boy in Austin?

      Delete
    5. No, I mean the video they play behind them during the song. With the explosions and stuff. Doubt they go through the trouble of creating that juts to play it once.

Robert didn't seem too pleased with the performance, though, so maybe they work it out a bit more before it comes back into the sets.

    2. Hi Craig,
I've always been a big fan of the clock. I think it adds to the excitement and the mystique. I'm so glad you brought it back. :)

  7. I came >this< close to driving from Phx today...but then saw this...

"State authorities have closed a stretch of Interstate 10 in southeastern Arizona due to a massive dust cloud that covered the highway on Tuesday afternoon"

With my luck I would have driven right into it, lol.... I will wait for the NYC shows. :)

  17. I wonder why they don't do Adagio for Strings before OOTW. Seems like if they do Tape they should do Adagio.

  18. The Bloodflowers sets are great to finally see again.

  19. Epic show so far, but I don't know what's going on is one of the worst songs in their entire career. They could have actually picked a good song from that record or one of the b-sides.

    1. Seriously, don't play that one anymore during this tour.

    2. I'm with you on this. Why not 'Labyrinth'? That's a really good song.

      Delete
    3. Ha. Never understood the hatred for this song. I would love to hear this one live. That being said, if I heard Round and Round and Round live I may puke. Same goes to Strange Attraction.

      Delete
    4. I personally place all three of those in the bottom of the barrel category. When Smith tries to write pop music after 1990, it never goes well.

      Delete
    5. I, too, never understood the hatred for "I don't know what's going on". One of my favorite tracks from the self-titled album (which, yes, I actually really like for the most part). Then again, I also like "strange attraction" and was just thinking tonight that it would be cool if they put that one in the set. So hey...

    6. One of best things about being a fan of The Cure is hearing all these diverse opinions. :) Cheers everybody and let's celebrate how AMAZING it is that The Cure are even combing the ocean floor for obscure album tracks to explore on this tour.

    7. I love (I Don't Know What's Going) On also. That one and Before Three are my highlights of self-titled. Fake and This Morning were excellent b-sides

      Delete
    8. Fake and This Morning are incredible tracks, I agree with that statement.

      Delete
    9. On is not that bad..lyrics are weak, very weak. But there was something worse in that record (Taking off or Never)

      Delete
    10. It seems the self titled LP has more of a love/hate relationship than WMS. It took me awhile to really enjoy it...the vinyl version is my favorite. Also, I enjoy the album as a whole more than snippets...I would love to hear Us Or Them, Before Three, Lost, Labyrinth, Promise...and TRUTH GOODNESS AND BEAUTY.

I can sympathize with fans not liking some of the songs.

  21. I'm not so happy with the fact that they didn't play wrong number. Also I think I don't know what's going (On) is the weakest one from The Cure. I love this album, but this song is very boring.

  22. Great set list, my fav so far. I was surprised by 39! I'd love to hear there is no if. My Wish (hehe) is for them to play Cut, Trap, How Beautiful You Are, Like Cockatoos, Sinking, Before 3, Edge of the Deep Green Sea, Three Imaginary Boys, Seventeen Seconds, All Cats Are Grey, Spilt Milk, A Pink Dream.... Or a movie/Cover encore - Dredd Song, Burn, More Than This/Small Hours/Young Americans/Love Will Tare Us Apart. End with Homesick.

  23. Best setlist so far, with the exception of I don't Know what's going on...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hooray! They played 39 on my 39th birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Snakepit! I love this song..i'm very happy to hear it again..

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love the setlists I see and how they change every night! So you basically go to a Cure concert and don't know what they will play for most of the show! That is incredible in the time of the internet where you get live updates from shows 9 timezones away from you. So I don't see the point of people complaining about a song or two they don't like.

What I would like to see an interview with RS revealing plans about a new album. Remember in 2008 they released four singles during the tour before releasing 4:13 album.

@Craig thanks a lot for all the updates. I like your idea of printing the songs in red they don't play every night.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I hope they do this set list when they come to Boston. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So happy to see Bloodflowers getting some much-needed play. Since S/T is getting some rotation too, I wonder if we can look forward to a 'Going Nowhere' or 'Anniversary' in the future?

  29. please say someone got Watching... a few weeks before Bloodflowers came out I broke up with a long term girlfriend and for months that year I just got home and wrapped that album round me like a warm sad blanket. So it'll always be a friend. Happy ending though, as it turns out I was best shot of her, and a year later I met my lovely wife & now we have 3 kids who are fighting on Minecraft as I type this.
