Only narrow minded ones...not saying i like BG's that much that i'd buy their records, but for sure some of their songs have a place in my life associated with good times.
Didn't know Robert was a fan of the Bee Gees...putting it politely, wasn't he skeptical when Billy Corgan approached him to cover To Love Somebody? I know not many Curefans like that particular cover, but I think it's great. Fair play tho Robert, you've listed the best Bee Gee songs in that note there...certainly the only ones I like haha.
Umm.. I recall a story where Robert belted out 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep' while heroically drunk.. That song runs rings around any Bee Gees song! Look at the group's very early career.. Underneath the spiky hair and eye/lip makeup there was a disco king screaming to get out.. Think 'Do The Hansa' and 'I Dig You'..
Not many people realise that Barry Gibb is a Cure fan... RS liking the Bee Gees wasn't a surprise as I'd heard that before. As said above, people need to look beyond the 'image' and see what's in the songs (isn't that what we always say to people about The Cure?). Robert has also named dropped Janet Jackson and various others, surely people realise he has eclectic music tastes?
really ? who in the world isn't a cure fan ? even people that don't think they are curefans freak out to this music . they're like oh I didn't know that was the cure and oh is that a cure song too hahaha
"I think some Cure fans will have be horrified reading this." ... you must be too young to grasp how it felt, my friend ~ and sadly, I think I'm almost too old to remember
Cute note, I love the BeeGees. & Maybe it's time for The Cure to take another trip down Disco Drive!
