Help with Rock in Roma?

Can anyone help Andrew and Benj with their questions about going to the Rock in Roma show? Thanks!

  1. From Andrew:
"OK, I live in the UK and obviously would love to see The Cure again this year. Reading and Leeds was pretty much THE festvial I did not want them to play. (Overpriced, bad crowd, bad atmosphere etc)

So I'm looking at eurpean dates and I'm really interested in Rock in Roma. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this Festival?? Is it even a Festival or just a gig as no other artists are announced for that night? Has anyone been beofre that can shed some light on it?"

  2. From Benj:

"Me & my brother are also thinking of Rome rather than Reading, so any info as Andrew says would be great."

  3. The Rock in Roma Festival is a unusual Festival, not many bands in a day, but many concerts in a month. So the Cure concert on 9th July will be JUST a Cure Concert.

  5. And Rome is a fantastic city. The site is beautifull and easy to access by tube. Enjoy !

  6. fmjews is right. The official site doesn't mention anyone else that night, so it's probably just them.
I went there three years ago to see White Lies, Franz Ferdinand & The Killers. The stage is by the side of a horse racing track, audience capacity is small to medium (i'd say half than the one of a regular arena) and the parking space is huge right outside the gates. My overall impression was good

  7. This has been a big help guys thank you. I'm glad the venue is close to the tube line as that was another of my concerns. The website says it's easy to get a bus from the station to the venue, but it's more reassuring to hear it from people that have actually been there.

Thinking about booking my tickets within a few days. Just deciding between this and Les Eurokeenes.

  8. As the official site doesn't mention anyone else that night, so... maybe can we expect an amazing 2 hours setlist (whith encores)? or more? ;)

  9. We're also going from the uk, it looks like getting there will be easy but it may finish after the trains have stopped so may need to get the night bus back into the city?

  10. The official Rock in Roma site states that they will play at least 2 hours and half. And I can confirm that only The Cure will play that night (except any invitation directly from the Cure as support act). If you need particular infos (transport, accomodations, etc) feel free to contact me. I'll reply ASAP. I'm a Cure fan Rome based so every Curefan is my bloodbrother :)

  12. I've attended several festival in my life(Sziget, Oxegen, Werchter)..and from my point of view the Heiniken Jammin Festival is the worst in Europe. Organization, people, prices...I never had good time . Anyway Milan is very well organized about public transport and accomodation, so I don't think you'll find any difficulties. But sincerely, if you've got a chance, exchange the HJF with another festival

  13. Curewish, you live in one of the most amazing and beautiful city in Europe! I was there for Xmas holidays, mama mia... Do you have reliable information about Rock in Roma official capacity ? Tried to send them an email but didn't get any answer and didn't find the exact figure on the internet, neither in any article about next summer Radiohead's sold out gig.

  14. I don't have specific info...I think (but it's only an opinion!!!) that Capannelle could have a capacity of 25.000/30.000...and it's the first time ever that a show in Rock in Roma goes sold out (Radiohead)..

Happy that you enjoyed Rome..so now the Cure are giving to you the chance to visit Rome also in the summer...... :) Don't lose the chance :)

  16. Hello guys, I am also going to Rock in Roma, I live in Brazil and I'm going all the way there for a Cure concert! Since there seem to be people who live in Rome commenting here, I would like to ask in what area of the city it would be good to book a hotel in order to get to the concert more easily. Any ideas? Thank you so much!

  17. Hi Angelica,
it will be great to have a meet up also with wonderful brazilian fans!! To be honest the area of the show is not very well linked by public transport; the nearest underground station is Anagnina, 2.7km from the venue and the second one is Cinecittà, about 3 Km..but you have to keep in your mind that you won't find the underground open at the end of the show (it close at 11pm). If you find an accomodation in the nearby area of the show you'll be out of the downtown circle. Consider to find an accomodation near San Giovanni in Laterano square that is about 11 km from the venue but you are in the heart of Rome and you can easily move if you want to make a tour in the City; after the show you can wait for some buses or take a taxi as well. If you write "ippodromo capannelle" in google maps you'll be aware that the venue is located in the extreme south-east of the City. Let me know if you are not interested in staying downtown, maybe I'll think about a different solution to find you an accomodation just around the venue avoiding the costs of taxi/buses.

    1. Hi Curewish!!! Thank you so much for your reply! I'm sorry I only checked it today.
We are thinking of staying downtown, as we'll be staying in Rome for a few days after the concert. If you have any info on good places to stay, I'll be very grateful. It would also be awesome to meet up with fans from Italy, of course! Thank you again! I'll make sure to check this thread again soon!
