  1. First - how EXCITING!

But, timing for NYC is poor, budget-wise. NYC is mega-expensive during Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

  2. OMG...

    I don´t think i can make it.

One off-show in Mexico City Robert.

It´s not so far from USA...

    PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Kate - we can cram a lot of people into a hotel room! C'mon!

    ReplyDelete
  4. i'm gonna try to get tickets to nyc if i can get 2 days off from work!!

    ReplyDelete
  5. This is amazing news...but I'm with Kate, the timing isn't so good on part as well.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Oh man - perfect timing for me for a NYC show! But the Beacon Theater is not huge...these will sell out fast. Fingers crossed on getting tickets...

    ReplyDelete
  7. See you at the London gig then :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Pardon my freak out, but
    OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Is this going to be the same 3 albums you think? Like Sydney?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yes, Chris. Read the press release at the official site. First 3 albums, then the encores.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Get home from work. What to do? May as well have a look on the net. Check in at CoF just to see what's new, if anything.
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
    :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
My day has most defintely been made. As long as I can get tickets of course......

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thanks Craig. Don't know if I will be able to afford any of these shows...bad timing and I'm still broke from Sydney!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Whyyyyyyyy Thanksgiving weekend ?! Oh my gosh.... horrible, HORRIBLE time for a concert in NYC !!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Tom, why is it horrible? Just because of the cost and crowds? Or is there more?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanksgiving weekend? They REALLLLLY need to rethink those NYC dates.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Craig, first, it's NYC, the most populous city in the US. Second, the first show is the day after Thanksgiving, when people are likely going to be spending time with their families. Third, it's the official start of the Christmas shopping season, so the crowds are going to be even worse than usual pretty much everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I can deal with that! Plus, I've always wanted to see the Macy's parade. : )

    ReplyDelete
  18. Craig: cost and crowds for sure. Not to mention that traveling in & out, and around NYC can be rather hectic most any other time of year, the holidays just take it up another notch. Plus family obligations can kinda get in the way of a concert at Thanksgiving time. I'm sure I'll find a way though !!

    ReplyDelete
  19. So are people going to be going in together for hotel rooms? I'm a student in Boston who isn't going home for Thanksgiving, so this is perfect timing and would work out excellently to take a bus out to NYC on Saturday for that show. I'd just need a place to stay that night!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hahaha...I've spent enough Thanksgivings with my family. : )

Only one chance to spend it with The Cure. : )

    ReplyDelete
  21. Craig - it doesn't say that this will be filmed - any word confirming this?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am certainly hoping to make it to NYC, Chris. We'll see, but it will take quite a lot to make me miss this one.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I don't think these shows are being filmed.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm crazy excited. Been 7 very long years since I last saw them. Going to make this one very special.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If anyone from Houston is going to try to make it to LA, please let me know. I'd love to do NYC if I can find a place to stay and flight cheap enough. I'd love to try to go!

    ReplyDelete
  26. We'll have to be fast. Here are the capacities :

    RAH London : 5,250

    BT NYC : 2,600

    PT LA : 2,700

    ReplyDelete
  27. YAY !!!! Porl fashion on DVD too !!!! YAY

Can you tell Robert there's a error in the press release at the official site

For 'FAITH' it's supposed to be 'The Cure Quinted'

Or it's just Robert trying to make some Fuzz ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. As an Englishman probably don't get the importance of Thanksgiving, but hey it's a Cure gig, you just gotta try and go regardless of the day/time/place/universe...........

    ReplyDelete
  29. Does 2 ticket maximum mean - per venue? Like I can only buy 2 tickets out of the 3 NYC shows? But then I can buy 2 more tickets for the LA shows too right?

    ReplyDelete

  32. 2 tickets per show. You can go to all 6 nights.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Is anyone actually doing that? Is there really a need? It's the same show each night. They should limit it to 2 tickets per city, and give more fans a chance to get in. Having said that, I'd like to go to 2 of the shows in NYC, so I'm being a bit of a hypocrite, I guess.

Just want as many fans as possible to get to see at least 1 show.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Any ideas on prices for Beacon? I AM VERY EXCITED!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I didn't mean I would go to all the shows I was just pointing out the 2 ticket limit is PER SHOW.

    ReplyDelete
  36. What I'm going to do is get up early and try to get a good seat at NYC show. Then 3 hours later see if I can get a good seat at LA show. And if I get two good seats, so be it. I'm just you, know, made of money, lol

    ReplyDelete
  37. i'm HAVING A HEART ATTACK! i guess g and i will be flying back to nyc for thanksgiving this year! nyc is GRAND during this time i don't know what you guys are talking about! the store windows are up, the thanksgiving day parade, the bustle! it's wonderful!
see you all there!!! (and in LA if i can swing it)

    ReplyDelete
  38. damn we need some serious coordination! would love to get a cure bus together! hahaha
anyone passing through SC? not convinced the wife will sign on... but she'll probably let me go just to stop my endless moaning!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I want to go to the NYC show(s). Time to start planning. Who wants to meet up and maybe share expenses? Let's talk.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Exactly my thoughts, Sofia! Have always wanted to be in NYC for the holidays. I can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Lol Sofia! Please don't die - you'll miss Reflections! Lol! :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Zap, I live in AL, I could make it to SC. A bus sounds like a good idea!

    ReplyDelete
  43. beacon theatre can be done! i was there for tom waits in 1999 and that sold out quite quickly (but less people liked him then it seems? and less people from out of town i'm guessing)

the good news is that there are no bad seats!

    ReplyDelete
  44. WOW !!!! I AM FLOORED~!!!! MY JAW DROPPED!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Amazing news. The concern of course is getting tickets. Pantages Theater seats 2700.

    Beacon is 2900.

These dates are going to sell out in MINUTES.

I think the 'good' news is not everyone is going for all three dates, so that should give most people a shot.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Joel and I are going to try to attend at least one show. We will train up from DC.

For personal reasons, I am not sure if we can share lodging, but I am open to suggestions. :)

We have been to NYC during the holidays, and it is indeed quite festive. But it is also crazy!

    Yippee!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Where did Debi get the pricing for Pantages?

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Craig, sorry. I'm just the type of person that always needs a source before jumping on something.

Do you have a link or copy of this?

  50. Do we know who the UK promoter is? Mate is a gig photographer and trying to get accredited. If he does I'll be sharing photos....

    ReplyDelete
  51. Sooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!!! Guess I will be heading to LA soon :D

    ReplyDelete
  52. Holy Crap! What a treat! Just bought my ticket from Honolulu to LA! Now just have to pray to get tickets for at least one show! Hopefully fellow COF followers will be helpful to one another, if tickets become hard to come by. Aloha, and see you there!

    ReplyDelete
  53. So what in everyone's opinion would be the best date to try and score tickets for? Meaning which dates will be the least popular thus improving your chances for a decent seat?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I have to be close to the stage because I am greedy.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Lol Paul - I am too! But at this point - any seat in the house will make me happy...or will it??? Lol!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Dang, ya'll already crashed the ticketmaster site in your excitement!

Craig, I'm SOO happy for you, that is absolutely wonderful that you're going to go to NYC. It makes me wish I could go just to be there with you!!

We'll probably do at least one or two of the LA shows since my sweet husband didn't get to go to Sydney.

Good luck everyone, what an exciting day for us fans!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anyone in LA want to go as a big group?

    Gregg

    ReplyDelete
  58. I hope I will be on the London gig :-D
    Great news.

    ReplyDelete
  60. JC - Robert can surprise me anytime he wants to! Hope you enjoy the RAH show, wish I could be there with you!! Are you coming to any of the US gigs?

    ReplyDelete
  61. No, i won't Rev..2 nights in Sydney and 1 in London will do me..All of you in the U.S enjoys the shows...you're being spoiled :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. OMG! I am dying! I want to be able to go to at least one NYC show but am so so pathetically broke.

If I don't pay any bills for a month...

If people are willing to share in hotel expenses that would certainly help though!

Trying to figure out a way...

    ReplyDelete
  63. Here come some more frequent flyer points.....here's hoping I can manage to get tickets to some of these shows...

    ReplyDelete
  64. Is it best to book flight and room now, or wait 'till I get a ticket to the show? I've only ever planned concert trips for shows where tickets were on sale well in advance, and easy to get to.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Jon, I booked my flight today, got a great fare into Burbank. I figure if I don't get a ticket I'll take the loss but I couldn't pass up the fare.

Also depends on what shows you are going to. I can tell you NYC hotels will be very very expensive that weekend. And many may be booked up.

    LA as well.

The timing on these shows is kind of stupid, wish they had waited a week until after the holiday.

    ReplyDelete
  66. It's about time. The Pantages in LA is a beautiful venue. See you all there! :) Not sure which night though. ~Andy

    ReplyDelete
  67. I should have specified that I want to go to NYC. I'm in school, and won't be able to go to LA on those dates, even though I think I'd prefer there. I've already been there before.

    So yeah, that's the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  68. OK, what about staying in NJ? C'mon people, let's work together, I know there's a bunch of us who're trying to figure out what to do!

  71. Thanks, Andy! I swear that wasn't there earlier.

Jon, I set up topic just for discussion of travel plans, so maybe that will help everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Heron - Thank you so much! I am so excited! 7 very long years since I last saw them. Curiosa in Houston, TX. Can't think of a better, more special show/setting, to get to see them live again. Roger & Lol! They were part of the lineup at my first ever Cure show in 87!

I also owe you for the Bestival treats (Thank you again!), so either give me your Paypal address, or let me know if you need anything from the NYC shows. : )

    ReplyDelete
  73. @Craig,

I completely forgot that this might mean there is REFLECTIONS merch!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm excited for everyone to get the opportunity to see these shows. You will love it!!!

So, so, so, SO, SO EXCITED that you will see the show/s, Craig!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Do you guys think that when you're buying coveted Cure tickets online at precisely 10:00:01 that your chances of getting a good seat are better if you buy 2 tickets or one ticket?

    ReplyDelete
  76. i'm pretty late, but

    1) whatttt is happening, where did this come from? exciting!

    2) new york isn't far, but i won't be there :(. it's my thanksgiving break, which is one of few weeks i get to spend with my family, and we'll actually be in florida. already got some awfully expensive plane tickets down there.

    3) once again, so exciting! i know we'll eventually get some good footage of this

    ReplyDelete
  77. @craig

out of curiosity, how come you weren't at the '08 shows?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Best bet to get tickets:

LA: 11/23 show. Why because everyone is traveling for Thanksgiving, or already has other commitments.

NY: 11/27 show. Most people have travel plans already for Sunday, they will be trying to get tickets for Fri or Sat night.

I think 11/21, 11/22, 11/25, 11/26 are going to be difficult to get tickets.

    ReplyDelete
  79. And do not bother calling Ticketmaster, lol, by the time an operator picks up the phone it will be sold out. Ticketmaster online.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hey everyone! I'm kinda new posting here (although I frequently check the site) and I'm very happy The Cure is actually giving concerts this side of the world map ;). Even though I live in Argentina, I feel they are like 'close' to me, in a way :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. AH. Marching band season is over by November. Perhaps I can convince my parents that a Cure concert would be such an amazing birthday present. :D :D :D I can dream!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I can only express two words: Holy shit!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Broadway on Black Friday? I absolutely adore the Cure, probably too much, but that is stress induced suicide for suburban weaklings like myself. I'm even less than 5 hours away in DC and I would never travel there that week. Makes me cringe just to think about it. Guess this place make you gun-shy about traveling anywhere during the holidays. I guess if tickets were like $20 or something than perhaps...well...nahhhhh!

For last year but prob still pertains: http://manhattan.about.com/od/gettingaround/a/holidaytraffic.htm

    ReplyDelete
  84. what is the actual date of thanksgiving? i mean how hard will it be to get to jfk on monday?

    ReplyDelete
  85. i was gutted i couldn't make bestival. this is great news - its my bday its my bday

    ReplyDelete
  86. Ha Ha!!! So happy! I ended up missing Bestival (had a ticket and everything!) due to poor health, so this makes me very happy!

    ReplyDelete
  87. ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!!!!! I'm so excited I might wee in my pants!!! ARRGHHHHHHH!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. i just realised that the byc tickets will go on sale oct 31st! why so late?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Antti - Thanksgiving is on Thursday November 24th this year. If you are flying to JFK the Monday before, it shouldn't be too bad. Or at least not quite as bad as later in the week.

I am far from an expert on NYC at Thanksgiving, but from what I've heard and read, the Wednesday before, and the Sunday after, Thanksgiving, are the busiest days at JFK that week.

    ReplyDelete
  90. According to this link tickets for the RAH will be from £20 to £150.

    http://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/default/2011-15-11-1930/reserve.aspx?perfid=25030&datetime=15%2f11%2f2011+19%3a30&title=default

For £150 a ticket I would want to be on stage with them... :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Lindsey - Why didn't I go to any 08 shows? Simple, no keyboards! : )

No, that's only a small part of it. It was a combination of things. Lot of stupidity on my part, some personal stuff that I had been dealing with for a couple of years, and until about halfway through the US 4Tour, I wasn't even sure if I still liked The Cure.

But 'Underneath the Stars', getting to know some very wonderful people, and all of the fun we had here during the live show updates & chats, rekindled my love for the band. Since then, the timing or actual events, just hadn't been right to see them again. And now I am so glad I waited. : )

    ReplyDelete
  92. Hannah - If only you could get an invite to march in the Macy's parade. Free trip to NYC! Maybe hurry up and try to join one of the bands that have already been invited? : )

    ReplyDelete
  93. @craig: if i get ticket(s) i'll be travellin to nyc friday 25th and flying back monday 28th. so if the busiest day is sunday then i should be fine. might even meet them at the airport. again. :D

    ReplyDelete
  94. Craig, as a fan for 25 years I can understand the waning of interest in The Cure. I actually went 5 years without listening to any of their music.

What always bring me back is the way they treat the fans with their concerts. They play rare tunes, bsides, 30+ song sets, and of course events like 'Reflections'. RS actually, truly gives a shit about his band. And while some of the recent material hasn't been the best, live they are still amazing.

Compare them to bands like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, etc who only play a 20 song set with the greatest hits and maybe some new songs. The Cure give the fans what they want, and they don't give a crap about the casual 'hits only' fans - although they get plenty of songs as well in a set.

If The Cure were like these other bands, and only played for 90mins - 2 hours and just the 'hits', I probably would have lost interest a long time ago.

The passion RS puts into live performances is unmatched, and hopefully there will be plenty more Cure tours beyond this one.

    ReplyDelete
  95. i'm so tempted to buy plane tickets to NYC but there's always the what if i don't get a ticket to any of the shows. this is too stressfull! :D

    ReplyDelete
  96. I am so happy that The Cure are giving us until Halloween to come up with the funds for these shows. I hate when shows are announced and tickets are on sale that Saturday. I guess I'm happy that I'm not in London. Sorry guys!

    ReplyDelete
  97. "Reflections" is welcome and I am grateful to the band but I would only shell out money to see a concert with new music. (even if it's only 1 new song).

    ReplyDelete
  98. @craig i imagine it'd be a pain running a popular blog for all of us about a band you didn't like. glad you came around :)

    ReplyDelete
  99. i personally would have liked the tickets to go onsale soon so i could book my flights. now i have to wait until 3 weeks before shows that i can book flights. what if i get tickets to show(s) but all the flights are fully booked. man it's hard being a cure fan!

    ReplyDelete
  100. @Fandango I'm trying to find out what the ticket breakdowns are. I know the RAH has done £150 tickets for boxes as part of premium/gold type ticket packages. Hoping the standard seats are ok. Wonder if there will be standing.....

    ReplyDelete
  101. Doh, just read the floor is Gen Ad. Cool.

    ReplyDelete
  102. @Antti,
if you're already likely to buy flights to go to these, i say you do it now and then try for tickets when they go onsale. Even if you don't manage to get some I'm sure Cure fans here will post if there are extras or at least willing to sell for not THAT much of an overprice.

The difference between what you'll pay for airfare then as compared to now is much higher than the price you might pay for a ticket at a higher rate I think.

    ReplyDelete
  103. One thing to consider is right now the excitement is high among Cure fans, and casual fans.

But ticket sales are still over 1 month away for LA & NYC. Invariably some people are going to forget, in fact I think many people who are 'casual' fans won't remember exactly at 10am on 10/31.

A lot of people also don't have access to the internet at that time. At my work they block most sites, so I will have to call in late, lol.

I'm pretty confident if you get on right at 10am, you will probably be able to get tickets for any show. Think about it, there are 110 comments on this board, many repeats.

So there are what 90 people commenting? There are roughly 2700 tickets per show lol.

Sydney tickets went on sale literally within days of the announcement.

Trust me, people are going to forget by 10/31. Obviously not the ones that frequent COF - but the casual masses who have heard about this.

I have many friends into The Cure. Not one has heard about this yet, lol. Only a handful of sites have it out there.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Part 2 -

I would book flights at least now. Hotels for the LA shows will be easy to come by. NYC will be more difficult because that is a very very high occupancy weekend.

As the date draws closer I will post my 'tips and tricks' for getting tickets through ticketmaster.com within the first few mins. :)

Again, if 10,000 people are interested in this right now expect 2,000 to actually remember the on sale date and time in 1 month, lol

    ReplyDelete
  105. Antti - also keep in mind that plans change and things happen, in Sydney I ended up with really good seats for sale both nights before the show because I had gotten better seats. Sometimes people can't make it due to illness etc., so I would say it is always going to be worth it just to be there even if you haven't gotten tickets beforehand. If you are not there in town, you can't get a last-minute ticket!

    ReplyDelete
  106. hi guys im new.. umm anyone got tips for how to get front row? or front center area?

    ReplyDelete
  107. curesunshine -

Demand for these shows will be high. Unfortunately the only way to get guaranteed close seats is to wait until tickets start appearing on Stub Hub or other reputable broker.

DO NOT buy tickets from people on Ebay. DO NOT buy tickets from Craigslist. My bet is due to the demand of these shows there will be some counterfeit tickets out there.

Stub Hub and a few others guarantee the legitimacy of your purchase. Now - you will pay a much much higher price, but you will be able to get great seats.

I expect the first 5 - 10 row to sell for no less than $500 per ticket for these shows going through a broker.

My plan is to just get a seat - any seat. NYC & LA are both relatively small venues and you should be fine anywhere.

You can always walk up to the stage in many cases, lol.

  109. didn't ebay buy stubhub or am i crazy?

    ReplyDelete
  110. @heron and andy. you are both so right! i'll make my decicion tomorrow if i'm gonna risk it and buy the flights to nyc now.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I have an enormous doubt. I prefer going to LA shows, because i pretend to see a Sting concert too nearby. But NYC sells first. If i dont buy the NYC ones and wait for LA, i could end up with no tickets. In other way, i coul end wit fout tickets (i wat to sse 2 of 3).
Never forget, i am from Brazil. Air tickets are too expensive to buy and not use them...
    Ahhhh.....I am going crazy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. There is a site already selling the tickets...

    so strange...

    http://www.ipantagestheatrelatickets.com/ResultsTicket.aspx?evtid=1746678&event=The+Cure

    ReplyDelete
  113. Any word on ticket prices for the NYC show? There is no pricing info on the Beacon website.

    ReplyDelete
  114. WHAT IS THAT SITE ALREADY SELLING TICKETS??? IS IT LEGITIMATE???

And there's floor tickets at Pantages? Somebody verify this website!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  115. I called them and they said they have tickets which were purchased through a presale and resold to them.
    What presale?
    Should I purchase????
and what's that about a floor at the Pantages?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Paul: It's just a ticket broker/scalper website. There will be plenty of sites like that. Many of the tickets will be legit, many will not. You take your chances when going through them. Some are more reputable than others.

It's your call, but I personally do not support scalpers/brokers, and would never buy from them until it was the very last option.

    ReplyDelete
  117. @ Paul K - Pantages website says that phone and internet ticket sales are only through Ticketmaster. I think we'd have heard about a presale so with those two thoughts, if this was in the UK I'd be advising you to stay the hell away BUT things may be different over there.....

    ReplyDelete
  118. What happens with some tickets like that, is that someone buys a "season ticket" to all of the shows, and will have the same seats for whatever plays there, be it a Broadway show, a family event, or concert. Then many people will list their tickets ahead of time, knowing they already have them, though not yet in hand. That's just one of the ways brokers get tickets earlier than the general public does.

  119. Hmmm...
It's tempting but I don't know what to do.
They have a floor ticket listed that total cost would be $280 and I would totally buy that if I felt secure about it but I don't want to sit around wondering if I wasted my money.

And answer me this... There is going to be a floor at Pantages??

  122. Again, you will find many sites offering those types of tickets at inflated prices, but the only official website that is selling the tickets will be Ticketmaster.

It's right there on the theatre's website and in the official Cure press release:
"Any tickets not purchased directly through Ticketmaster or at the venue box offices may not be official tickets and run the risk of not being honoured night of show."

Everything offered anywhere other than TM is a broker/scalper website.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Wow is all I can say! I don't check the web site for a few days and bam The Cure are going to do more shows this year! Would love to go to the RAH show. It’s an excellent venue but I can't get the funds fly over for that one now. LA would be cool, I never been there except the airport but then again no money to fly there too!

So NYC may be the place for me but still I'm not sure if I can afford it. NYC is not too far away from me but still with the cost of the train or parking if I drive & hotels over the holiday weekend it might be too much. And as much as I like NYC during the Thanksgiving holidays, it's crowed with people and all that goes on that weekend it might be too much for me to handle. Still I'm going to try to make it to at least one show. Thankfully there is a few weeks before they go on sale to think about it but I should book up a hotel now just to be safe. Hotels fill up fast in NYC that weekend.

Can anyone verify floor tickets at Pantages?

  126. Oh I'm happy that Craig has finally decided to get to a Cure show after 7 long years! Have a great time Craig! You deserve it. Hopefully I'll see if I can make it (cross-fingers) and get a chance to meet ya! If not, I can't wait to hear your Curey adventures in the Big Apple!

  127. @paul

i looked up the seating chart and images for pantages and no there isnt floor. its all seats. only london will have floor. but for sure pantages is all seats. idk if thats what u meant but yea. im waiting for oct 31st.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I'm sure NY shows will be seats too :(
That means you have to be VERY lucky or you have to think on spending some $$$ to get a good close to the stage seat, buying it from a broker of course, which will have the best seats in the house, as always.
    Sad but true.

    ReplyDelete
  129. But in small theatres like these, there really aren't any bad seats. This isn't like an arena show with 15-20,000 people, and you are way in the back and up near the ceiling.

I understand the desire to be right up front, but honestly, whatever you can get, get it and be thankful you're in. There are many fans who won't get to see any of the shows, from any seats.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I have to disagree with 'there are no bad seats' I go to A LOT of concerts and even in small venues a seat in the back of the balconey is kind of a bummer, soundwise and visual-wise. Of course that might be just because I'm totally spoiled?

Anyway, re: floor seats at Pantages. If there aren't any, why are some brokers who are already selling tickets have some floor tickets to sell? Because those tickets are fake? or do they know something we don't?

    ReplyDelete
  131. Craig is right. Just get a ticket, these shows are going to sell out in minutes. The London show won't be much of an indicator for NY/LA because it's one night with a lot more tickets.

Still I expect it to sell out in minutes.

LA/NY have a few things going for them.

    1. The onsale date is still 1 months away. Invariably, some people are going to forget. Or they will not be available at the exact on sale time. Or just decide not to go for whatever reason.

1 month before the onsale date after an announcement is strange. But, it could work to our advantage

    2. Multiple shows. Like I posted earlier, the 11/23 & 11/27 dates will afford the best opportunity to get tickets. You will have thousand of people trying to get tickets, but this is spread out over 3 shows.

    3. Thanksgiving. I already know 3 people who can't go because they are traveling that week. I had to slightly alter my plans to make one of the shows. This will reduce the buying public.

    4. The setlist. Yes, it's great for us. But for the casual Cure fan, it's not very appealing. If you only know the greatest hits you will sit through 40 odd songs and only get a handful of tunes you know.

The bottom line is that if you have money - you will get a ticket. I personally would pay $500 to see this show. I don't plan on paying that amount, but I will if I have to.

Again, ticket sales for LA/NY are a month away. My bet is 50% of the people that would buy if tomorrow was the onsale date will forget and have an awful 'oh crap' moment around 10:30am on 10/31, lol

    ReplyDelete
  132. I heard Lily say she is going to work for the Cure in Las Vegas. Do you think she means L.A. or have they added Vegas dates?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Craig said...
"Hahaha...I've spent enough Thanksgivings with my family. : )

Only one chance to spend it with The Cure. : )"

    Ummm, SWEET!

    ReplyDelete
  134. really I don't get people who want to spend Thanksgiving with their freaking family for chrissakes. Arguing with their dysfunctional brother and eating a dead bird. When you could be at a Cure concert celebrating the existential thought of getting lost in a forest, all alone.

    ReplyDelete
  135. What is also great about these shows is their relative setlist obscurity, as Unknown pointed out, I forget if that was 4. or 5. or whatever, lol.
The greatest hits crowd won't be there THANK GOD. What a bunch of clueless squares getting drunk and high-fiving each other during Just Like Heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I would just like to be the first to thank "unknown" for being the voice of reason!! I have been reading these posts, and the only voice on this site (other than craig's) that doesn't make me want to have a flipping panic attack is unknown. (I wish I could credit you properly, but obviously your handle is UNKNOWN.) I have to agree with everything you said. It reminds me of something I read once about actors and their resumes. (I am an actor, well...aspiring.) It said something like "don't lie on your resume about acting jobs you supposedly had in the past, because the acting world is surprisingly small." Well, couldn't the same be said of Cure fans? I mean, don't get me wrong, I personally love the Cure, and although I wish more people would "get" the Cure, they are admittedly not everyone's cup of tea.

So, although these tix might sell out in a relatively short period of time (I want to hedge my bet, lol), I would not count on it. As unknown said, some if not many casual cure fans may forget a month from now. The diehard fans may not (a la COF), but look at how small this community really is. So although I don't advocate waiting to buy concert tix, I don't think we should panic about whether we can get one.

Unfortunately, I am basically alone amongst my friends and family as a fan of the Cure, so I have no one to travel with me to LA :( Oh well. But seeing the Cure play in 2008 in chicago was one of the best experiences in my life, not to mention the greatest concert of my life hands down (and I have seen MANY concerts over the years).

So, to all my fellow Cure fans, let's enjoy these moments of excitement leading up to these shows, and of course I have no doubt we will enjoy the show itself :)

    ReplyDelete
  137. Thanks Craig, you're right and I agree with you at some point. Don't get me wrong, I'll be thankful if I get a ticket! I just hate the fact of finding the front rows tkts at the brokers web sites later on, at a ridiculous price.
That happens at every show and this won't be the exception.
Paul K - I feel the same about being at the back or at some balcony somewhere. I think it sucks. At least with a GA floor, you know that if you go early you'll be there at front. And about the brokers...many of them already posted prices and even rows or sections (for every NY or LA show) and we're a month away...so get ready.
Maybe as 'brokers' they have some lots of seats that they already know they'll have. I think not all but some rows (usually the best ones) are saved for the brokers.
It's all business. (why they'll sell all the tkts at some price if they can make lots more $$$ with the people who can - and will- pay three times more?)
Just remember when ticketmaster used to have a link that takes you to ticketsnow (broker) suggesting that 'maybe you can find the tkts you're looking for there'. Good luck everyone!!!

  138. Just relax. Eventually we're all going to die.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Lol @ Paul!!! And it doesn't matter if we all die!

  140. M.C. - Thank you, trust me I understand how emotional this can get for people. I've seen The Cure on every tour since 1986, and every time getting tickets is a rollercoaster for me, lol.

    Thoughts on London:

As expected, it sold out in minutes. Of course tickets keep popping so I suspect vigilant people will be able to get one if they keep trying. The technical chaos around this onsale date was ridiculous from the reports I have read. Let's hope Ticketmaster goes more smoothly on Halloween.

I checked my usual resource Stub Hub today, and there are still no tickets available for NYC or LA. That tells me to be highly suspect of any tickets for sale on other sites. Again, my advice is try for ticket through ticketmaster, and if all else fails use Stub Hub.

Now, we have a month long wait for the onsale date for the NYC/LA shows. Part of the reason for the London demand was the proximity of the onsale date to the announcement. I still am questioning 'why' the onsale date for NYC/LA is so far away from the announcement.

My 'speculation' is its just a difference between the London promoters and US promoters. Who knows.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I'm going to go to the L.A. shows. I've bought air tickets and booked a hotel. Obviously, I am a little worried about actually getting tickets, but I think it will all work out. Some good points were made, about "casual fans" forgetting, but I'm sure as the on sale date approaches, more places will report about the concert and renew the excitement for those same fans.

Someone was asking why the announcement and on sale dates are so far apart and I've wondered the same thing since it seems like Monday sale dates are odd, as are ticket on-sale dates 3 weeks before a show- BUT the only thing I can think is someone thought they were being cute and decided that Cure tickets should be sold on Halloween? IDK. I'm just VERY excited and can't wait to see them again.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Maybe they will have loads of presales like for Sydney. THAT was nuts. What was it - like 3 presales or something? If so, maybe the presales will start in another week or two? I am sticking VERY close to COF and ticketmaster! :)

    ReplyDelete
  143. I'd be very surprised if there aren't at 2 or 3 presales for the US shows. But you can all relax for now, as it is very doubtful that they would happen until that week before the public onsale date.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Yes, presales usually occur the week before the onsale date. But it is wise to be vigilant in this case, and keep an eye not only on TM, but also on the websites for each venue.

Bookmark them and check 'em a few times per day. Obsessive? Maybe. lol.

  147. kendra or moraes_luciano , any chance you would want to split the cost of a hotel room in LA? We could also split cab fare or whatever. I mean, provided we exchange pictures or a couple e-mails and we both feel comfortable. Idk. I am actually considering not going if I have to go to the concert by myself. The thought of seeing my favorite band, but having no one to share it with, is almost incomprehensible to me. I live in Wisconsin, by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  148. *sorry. Last night I was kind of drunk on the internet.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Has anyone ever purchased from a ticket broker? The reviews for most are very good, but there's always a couple that claim they're rip-off. I called ticketmaster and they claim that they pre-sell blocks of tickets to brokers and that is how some already claim to have tickets.

    ReplyDelete
  150. steerpike - for the 2008 show at Radio City Music Hall I used Stub Hub. www.stubhub.com

They are reputable, and guarantee the authenticity of your tickets. Here is a link to their full guarantee:

    http://www.stubhub.com/fanprotect-guarantee-legal/#buyers

I don't know if they have a UK division. If I cannot get tickets for the LA shows then I will be using them.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Ticketmaster pre-sell blocks of tkts to brokers (and they're not the last rows) As I said, you know where to find the best seats paying much more $$$ than face value.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I hope the audience does not ruin the show by sining along. Keep our mouths shut! I'm not paying $105 to listen to you!

Yes, that would be great. I don't know how to e-mail you on here, or if I am able to, so I will give you my e-mail: m_christner26@yahoo.com. Then we can talk about what night(s), which hotel to book, etc.

  155. I remember 1986, standing in line to get tickets for The Cure show at Pier 84 in NYC. I had $40 in my pocket, and the line at the Pier 84 venue ticket booth. I took the train in from Westchester County where I lived, unbeknownst to my parents. Walked to the venue, which was quite a distance from Grand Central. About 110 people in line when I got there. But I managed to get 2 tickets for $17.50 a piece.
I walked back to Grand Central and with the $5 I had left bought a train ticket back home. Walked home from the train station. Ma asked me where I was for the last several hours, just said I went for a walk in a forest, lol. I was such a wise ass back then. I was 15.

Most of you I'll be competing for tickets weren't born yet, lol.

In 1987 when they played Madison Square Gardens for the KMKMKM tour I was able to buy tickets over the phone! I was 17, and had to call from a payphone at our high school, lol. But I got 4 tickets.

1989, waited in line with a couple 100 people at the local ticketmaster outlet.

1992, went to the local ticketmaster, waited in line again.

1996, yep. went to the local ticketmaster, waited in line...again.

2000. Now there was this cool thing called the 'Internet'. The Dream tour was the first Cure tour I ever bought tickets online. You know what? I miss the line.

Sure, there is an online fan community, but it's not the same. When you are in line with all the other Cure fans there is just a great camaraderie. And the excitement when you get up to the desk and the clerk gives you the physical ticket... man I miss that.

Anyway just some 'Reflections' from an old school fan... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  156. OK. I'll play your sick little game. I'm pretty old school too.
My first Cure concert was 1987 KMKMKM ticket price $17.50 Oakland Coliseum.
Haven't missed a tour since then, seen them 14 times. Some brief highlights - scored tickets for rare Bloodflowers promo show at the Fillmore in San Francisco, a small venue.
The last time they toured I did two cool things - I flew to Mexico City and sat in the 3rd row. Then, because I could I followed the Cure around California and saw them in 4 different cities.
    My reflections..

    ReplyDelete
  157. Forgot to add best show on the last tour was at L.A.'s Shrine. Killer accoustics.
And.. I know I'll be at Pantages next month..

    ReplyDelete
  158. i'm freakin' out! if i'm in nyc when the cure play and i don't have a ticket...i'll have to throw myself off pier 17! sure, i'll be with family and all, but...c'mon.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Sorry to bring this up, but, now I see 2 websites selling "floor" seats for Pantages and one guarantees the ticket! Seems too good to be true I mean I have jumped out of a plane but this seems real risky!! Please share your thoughts, Craig, unknown, or PaulK

    ReplyDelete
  160. Lisa, why take a chance with the ticket brokers when you haven't even tried getting them from the official sale yet? Why support the very thing we are all fighting against?

It's your decision, and you should do whatever you are comfortable with, but my advice is to wait. Brokers/resellers should be your very last option, in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Thankyou for your wise advice Craig.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Speaking for myself, the very idea of not getting a ticket would be enough to tempt me to use a broker now; that is, if I trusted them. We've got our hotel, our flight and it HAS to be Monday's show. Does anyone think or know of some kind of pre-sale? Do we just get on ticketmaster at exactly 10:00 and hope for the best?
As for shows: my wife and I fell in love at the Phoenix '92 Wish show. Since then: Phoenix Wild Mood Swings, Dallas Bloodflowers, KROQ flashback, Dallas Curosa and '04 Coachella. The Wish and Bloodflowers shows were sublime.
